To me, that dog actually looks like he was caught in the act. He's panting, which means that he'd just been really active. And he's got his ears back, which is usually a dog sign of deferral or whatever.
I could just imagine him saying, "Tara! OH HEY, GIRL! Um, torn duvet? What do you mean? Oh thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat duvet. Right. I don't know anything about it."

Also, yeah. I walked in and they were all like "Huh? that? wasn't meeee!" and just split in four different directions.
Oh and after I got back and cleaned up, they just all had a quiet nap.
