Guardians of the Galaxy - 7/10. Fun, cute movie! I've become quite sick of all the hype surrounding it and it put me off from it going to see it, but Rocket was in fact one of the best roles. Probably the best thing Bradley Cooper has ever done. And also I bawled my eyes out at youknowwhatpart. And holy trout did Chris Pratt look incredible. I watch him on Parks and Rec atleast once a day and didn't really care about him getting in shape for this movie as I already like him, but watching him on screen, yep damn looked pretty good. I also like that (SPOILER)there was zero romantic moment/kiss between Pete and Gamora. That was awesome, and I really liked that. There were some sweet moments and obviously the time they got close, but otherwise, yep, really happy to see a movie where the hero did NOT get the girl.
I think I liked this more than the Avengers because it's about a group of misfits without phenomenal cosmic powers. I know it's all hoke and fiction, but in a way that seemed to make them more relatable to me. Pretty good movie!
Captain America: The First Avenger - 5/10. Eh. Was alright. Will probably never see it again. I just have stars in my eyes for Chris Evans as Cap and wanted to watch him on screen for two hours. It went on longer than it should and I felt like it should have ended at several places before it actually did.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 6/10. Pretty disappointed that I feel like Nick Fury hijacked this smurfing movie. I feel like many of his scenes were useless. (SPOILER)The part where SHIELD turns on him and beats the hell out of his SUV? We didn't need to see all that. That was a showoff action scene. We could have cut straight to him being in in Cap's apartment all bloody and telling Cap not to trust anyone. Would have made for a better part of the story, I think. I disliked Black Widow being in this movie, I think she was totally unnecessary and a little too convenient. I also disliked how it seemed mostly about SHIELD than Cap somehow.
Additionally, I was really going for the Winter Soldier bit. That was awesome. A deadly anonymous highly dangerous assassin with a robot arm? Yes, amazing. I was kind of disappointed when he was revealed as Bucky, though. I know it makes for a good plot twist and drama, but it seemed like a massive stretch to me. What I did like, though, was that they did not have some big happy bromance reunion at the end. That made it watchable.
