Ahhhhh! Now that is delicious! Doesn't help me though...grah. I'm thinking along the lines of the 4 fights to get into Terra, and somewhere near there. An event with projections around the time of the 4 fights....hmmm....Urgh. These riddles would probably help if I had played FF9 recently. I could be on completely the wrong track, but the duality made me think of when you split the team apart. So it's when the teams a big group!

There isn't really any projections on the way to Terra. It could be the wall with all the gemstones of each shrine on it? but then they don't really have any beams of light.

Although Taharka does kind of beam up in a holographic way. I remember that because I thought it looked funny.

No to ALL of you. MUAHHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Hint: Remember that it ONLY exists in "dreams of darkness and beams of light". And when something "exists in a dream" it usually...

Quindiana Jones
07-23-2006, 03:28 PM
Doesn't exist in reality. Unless you have cool premonition powers, and *blithers on for another half hour*

I just had a couple of long going riddles, that's all ;)

The Swedes are invading! They'll confuse us all with their English language prowess! *flees*

I'm working on a brilliant riddle right now, so I intend on figuring this one out waiting for someone else to figure this one out, then figure out their probably easier riddle myself.

For some reason I thought summat to do with Quina. She has quite a few weird visions. Like the see one in Memoria, or the huge food one in Quan's Dwelling.

I'm working on a brilliant riddle right now, so I intend on figuring this one out waiting for someone else to figure this one out, then figure out their probably easier riddle myself.
I hereby nominate you Funniest user of the 20th and 21st century combined.

Hint: The event NEVER ACTUALLY HAPPENS! *gasp*

And the event is bigger than Quina :shifty:
By that I mean she has nothing to do with it, plus exactly what I said.

Quindiana Jones
07-24-2006, 06:08 PM
*dances to the tune of "I Got A Nomination For Something"*

It's a really fun dance with lots of flatulence. Hm....deja vu.....

But Quina's huuuuge! So the characters talk about the event, expecting it to happen, but it never does?

Rantz
07-24-2006, 06:21 PM
Well someone expects it to happen. :)

Quindiana Jones
07-24-2006, 06:34 PM
Is it Garland's thingy about Terra...what was it....assimilating (?) Gaia?

Rantz
07-24-2006, 06:42 PM
Well... close enough. The answer I wanted was "the merging of Gaia and Terra". I think the reasoning should be pretty easy to get now, but ask if you want something explained.

Now, show us the brilliant riddle :D

Quindiana Jones
07-24-2006, 06:49 PM
Hm. I would've guessed that earlier, had I thought better. I wanna hear your reasons. :D

Rantz
07-24-2006, 07:03 PM
Lol, fine then ^^

I am seen,
You see the event happening when in Oeilvert,

but I only exist
in dreams of darkness
and beams of light.
but it never really happens, except for in Garland's (darkness, both by his looks and his mind) wishing dreams and in the projection in Oeilvert.

In duality I am not
As long as Terra and Gaia are separated (duality), the event does not happen. When it happens, unity has taken duality's place.

I shine with purple as I am.
You were on the right lines with your first guess :D
This refers to the blending of red (Gaia) and blue (Terra) being purple. As I said, only a personal assumption based on one type of logic. :)

Quindiana Jones
07-24-2006, 07:11 PM
Mmmmm...that was delicious. Though I wish I had guessed figured out the answer later because I'm still tweakinbg with my riddle. Grar.

In the greatest of kingdoms,
With work, I reside,
To help out the royalty,
With their work and their pride.

I'm not on the outside,
As my work is within,
My name is the top,
Of the others aboard.

Rantz

In the greatest of kingdoms,
The greatest of kingdoms on the Mist continent is Alexandria or Lindblum - not sure if it's ever foretold which?
It could also be symbolic, in which case it's harder to tell what it is.

With work, I reside,
With work - either as it sounds, or with the word "work".
To reside can be either to live with or to exist with. Those are the only meanings I can think of right now.

To help out the royalty,
My bet would be that this is not as easy as the royalty in-game, but rather like you did in your FFVIII riddle, where "royalty" referred to Solomon, a real life ruler/royalty.
To help out is probably what it sounds like.

With their work and their pride.
The word "their" suggests that the royalty spoken of is not just one, so maybe it is in-game royalty after all.
"work and pride", well, I guess it's sort of what it sounds like.

I'm not on the outside,
As my work is within,
Works inside a castle, house or just in a closed group? Hard to tell.

My name is the top,
Of the others aboard.
This seems like word play or some sort of visual guide.

I'll guess Blutzen, mostly just to make a guess. He is the topmost Pluto knight on the list apart from Steiner (Steiner would be too obvious).
The rest of the reasons for that guess are self-explanatory with that reasoning above.

this riddle isn't as twisting as my usual ones. The majority of it is straight forward.
Greatest kingdom is in reference to most powerful in 'some' circumstances, but greatest/largest in capacity.

One of the words in the second verse gives you a clue to what 'career' I'm on about in the riddle. Look carefully for it, but as I said the rest is normal and straight forward.

Quindiana Jones
07-30-2006, 05:32 PM
So it's someone/thing in Lindblum, as that is easily the largest city.

I get the feeling of Erin the Sky Captain, or Hilda. I'll go with Hilda for now, as I can think of a good explanation for her.

Lenna
07-30-2006, 06:11 PM
no sorry, you're best saying your explanation with the answer so I can tell you where you've gone wrong

Quindiana Jones
07-30-2006, 06:15 PM
Alright. I'll explain it now anyway. I couldn't be bothered before :D

In the greatest of kingdoms, - Hilda's a Lindblum lass.
With work, I reside, - She lives with Cid, who is always working.
To help out the royalty,
With their work and their pride. - - Either helping literally in his work, or just being there when he comes home. Also Cid could say "I have a wife" and be full of pride.

I'm not on the outside,
As my work is within, - Being with the Regent, she would probably stay mostly inside the Grand Castle.
My name is the top,
Of the others aboard. Finally, you have the Hilda Garde airship. "Hilda" would most likely be written on it, above the crewmen.

The work is referring to actual work the character has, not for anyone else they're related or associated with.

Quindiana Jones
07-30-2006, 09:36 PM
I still reckon it has summat to do with Lindblum and airships, so I'll go for Engineer Zebolt.

In the greatest of kingdoms, - In Lindblum again.
With work, I reside, - Whenever you go and see him, he's at the airship place.
To help out the royalty,
With their work and their pride. - He helps Cid with airship business. Airships are the Regent's work, and are the pride of Lindblum.

I'm not on the outside,
As my work is within, - He doesn't fly a ship, he just engineers them.
My name is the top,
Of the others aboard. - I guess he would be higher and more important than the crew of the ship, as it wouldn't exist without him.

I'm actually starting to think the Kingdom could be Alexandria, as a Regent isn't really royalty....

Lenna
07-31-2006, 11:42 AM
you just got the answer PQ lol, and Regent is a replacement of royalty. Stepping in for royalty while the disappearance of a king / etc. and he's higher above because he's Head Engineer.

Holy cripeys I'm amazing. Also I'm away for the next three days (or two, I dunno, I'm on holiday) so it would be pointless to post a riddle. I think someone up there doesn't want me to post one. But God's wrong, and I'm better than Him anyway.

Someone else can post another riddle (does this mean I get two goes in a row ;)) and then I'll post mine after it.

I reckon it's Mist. It's the waste product of the Iifa Tree's soul thingy, so is probably full of all those crappy memories that people seem to carry around with them. It makes lots of nasty nasty creatures, and it's also translucent, so you can kinda see through it.

MIST!

Quindiana Jones

I'll do mine.

Not once, not thrice, but in between.
Our loyal companions can be seen.
With friends by side, and running behind
They really are not hard to find.

"The Bible only names me once!" they say,
But tell me, friends, what are they?

Rantz
08-20-2006, 03:45 PM
Not once, not thrice, but in between.
This makes... *thinks for an hour* ... six times? Or maybe twice.

Our loyal companions can be seen.
They can be seen twice, they are loyal companions. One would assume that is to the player, but 'our'? Could still be to the party or some other friendly group.
Essence: They are friendly to 'us'.

With friends by side, and running behind
This seems visually describing more than anything else. Maybe we see them with friends on their side(s) and behind themselves in a battle? In a FMV? Or maybe simply in-game cinematics.

They really are not hard to find.
They are easy to find, maybe because of the close-by friends? Or maybe they're big in size?

"The Bible only names me once!" they say,
Mmhmmm, interesting. More Bible references. :p

But tell me, friends, what are they?
'What are they?' makes me think that maybe your going for just that, what they are, instead of who they are. For example, if the riddle was referring to Zidane, the answer would be Genome. This could just be me over-analyzing it though :)

My first guess is the Nero brothers (Benero, Genero and Zenero). Nero was mentioned in the New Testament, I don't know if it's more than once.

Quindiana Jones
08-20-2006, 07:16 PM
Good to see you analysing it, though most of those are not correct ;).
For example twice?? Dunno where you got that from...

Perhaps if you had a read through a book of useless knowledge, you might find yourself understanding the Bible references first.

Possibly Zorn and Thorn?

Quindiana Jones
08-30-2006, 11:44 AM
Nope. The answer is a thing, and is only found in two places. You meet Zorn and Thorn in many places. It's not a group either. Good guesses though. But please give your reasoning.

Rantz
08-30-2006, 12:34 PM
Pumice pieces?

[Line 1 & 2] There are only 2 Pumice pieces, right? Or am I wrong?
[Line 3] Not sure. Maybe has to do with Ozma, or synthesizing them?
[Line 4] One is hidden in a chocograph, making it hard to find, so here's where I'm starting to go wrong.
[Line 5] The Bible may have mentioned pumice, since (according to Wikipedia) it has been around since ancient Roman times.
[Line 6] Ostrich steak!!! ... Ahem... I mean pumice pieces.

Quindiana Jones
08-30-2006, 01:27 PM
Nope, but cheers for reasoning. I suggest you stay away from the Bible reference, as it isn't needed. If you knew the reference then you'd know the answer instantly, but it's probably quite hard to find it.

Think simply about the second line. Turn it into a question and ask yourself or someone else that question, chances are you'll get the answer then.

Vivisteiner
08-30-2006, 06:48 PM
I think there are 3 pumice pieces.

Is it running shoes?
Not once, not thrice, but in between.
Found twice

Our loyal companions can be seen.
Again, you can only get 2

With friends by side, and running behind
Well you mentioned running

They really are not hard to find.
Its not too hard to find Hades or Tantarion

"The Bible only names me once!" they say,
Hades was leader of the Underworld. Tantarion is a book like the Bible. Hmmm.

But tell me, friends, what are they?
Dunno, but my best guess is running shoes.

Quindiana Jones
08-31-2006, 01:26 PM
I think you will all be justified in leaving threatening user notes after this, as I have made two mistakes in the past two riddles I've done. Yes. I'm ashamed. However, I have an amazing ability to correct things. Yey!

Not once, not thrice, but in between.
Our loyal companions can be seen.
With friends by side, and running behind
They really are not hard to find.

"Shakespeare only names us once!" they say,
But tell me, friends, what are they?

It probably doesn't help you much anyway, it's just for my own piece of mind :D

And nope. Not running shoes.

Rantz
08-31-2006, 01:45 PM

RIDDLE!

Rantz
09-10-2006, 05:38 PM
Okay, so I don't have a great guess, but this thread is dying. Let's think rational:

The last line reads "what are they?", this likely means that we are not after individual names, rather a species, race, type or the like.

- The answer is seen/found in two places

- The answer is a thing (not things)
A thing does not necessarily mean it's an inventory item, more like "it's not a living creature"

So it's a thing but it's still they, this fits with the "we're after the type, not a unique item" theory.

You say we are to think of the second line, well the second line doesn't say much in itself, it does say though that they are loyal companions, which could be a major key.

You say turn it into a question, well a question could be "Who are our loyal companions?". It makes me think of pets, dogs mostly, but they aren't really things...

"With friends by side, and running behind" this line is confusing me, not that it's badly worded, I just can't think of any possible context where this is true... Maybe in the escape from the Evil forest?

The only "things" I can come up with there is the Continental map... "Map" would sort of fit in with some lines:

[Line 1]: You get the continental map first, then the world map...
[Line 2]: They are loyal companions in that they are with you most of the time and very useful, always to your advantage
[Line 3]: Evil forest escape scene as mentioned above
[Line 4]: You can't avoid getting them, thus they are not hard to find
[Line 5]: No idea, but you said don't worry about this line so I won't :p
[Line 6]: Maps?

If that is wrong (which is probable), I would like to know if there are any word games in this riddle, and if I'm even going in somewhat the right direction :I

Quindiana Jones
09-10-2006, 08:46 PM
Things can be living creatures :D:D:D

Rantz

Things can be living creatures :D:D:D
Yarrrrh. :mog:

I'll guess dogs, the reasons can be puzzled together from my earlier posts. I'm not in the mood for typing out a full reasoning again ^_^

Quindiana Jones
09-11-2006, 07:34 PM
Correctamundo!

Not once, not thrice, but in between.
Our loyal companions can be seen. -----You can see dogs twice in the game: Treno and Conde Petie.
With friends by side, and running behind ----In Treno the moogle is always running behind the dog, and in Conde Petie the it trots along with the owner.
They really are not hard to find. ---- Considering how you have to go to each of these places, you're guaranteed to see both.

"Shakespeare only names us once!" they say, ---- Merchant of Venice. Crab is the dog. It's the only dog ever named by Shakespeare in his plays. (the Bible mentions a cat only once, you can see where I got confused :D)
But tell me, friends, what are they? ---Um....yeah...obvious.

Rantz

Wow, it was right :p
Enjoyable riddle as always, now let me think of one.
*thinks*

Ok, here's one.

Both the blue, with the red garniture,

I have known, but now I serve
a greater purpose, I bring the verve!

I guess I could've made it longer but I think that should be quite enough.

Quindiana Jones
09-12-2006, 04:57 PM
Sounds to me like thingy...damnit I never can remember his name haha. LOWELL! THAT'S IT! Yeah I'll go Lowell.

Both the blue, with the red garniture, - He starts off dressed as a moogle, which he hates so is
and the red, with the blue coiffure, - *blank* He has blue hair :D
I have known, but now I serve - Hm....
a greater purpose, I bring the verve! - Hm....

Lost Number
09-12-2006, 05:04 PM
Hmm...what does verve mean again? I'll look that up. Red and blue themes both make me think of the 2 planets idea. "But now I serve a gretaer purpose" could refer to Kuja becoming his own man, and he does change a red colour in trance. He aint really blue normally though. Could also be Zidane, and seems to fit better. I'll go Zidane.

....except he hasnt known. Bollocks.

Nope, neither Lowell nor Zidane. :)

Remember that a new line does not equal a new sentence, this whole riddle is one sentence but broken up into lines for rhythm and rhyme ;)

Both the blue, with the red garniture, and the red, with the blue coiffure I have known, but now I serve a greater purpose, I bring the verve!

OK, i will assume that the last 2 lines join straight on, fair enough. however, by the lack of , in the second line, does it run straight on? Wait, it makes sense now. So, blue with red additions, and blue with red additions? It seems in terminology to refer to clothes. But...Zorn and Thorn! Wait...Meltigemini!

Quindiana Jones
09-12-2006, 07:14 PM
Oh yes. Didn't realise that.

Could it be the artist guy that moans at Lowell then?

Rantz
09-12-2006, 07:41 PM
Nope, not Meltigemini or the artist (Michael?)

LN, you're almost there with the sentence structure. You could put the riddle like this, for readability purposes:

I have known both the blue with the red garniture, and the red with the blue coiffure, but now I serve a greater purpose, I bring the verve!

Quindiana Jones
09-12-2006, 07:48 PM
Both the blue, with the red garniture, Blue thing. Red clothes.
and the red, with the blue coiffure Red thing. Blue hair.
I have known, but now I serve The answer has known them both
a greater purpose, I bring the verve! But serves a greater purpose.

Sounds a bit like Beatrix.

Rantz

Not Beatrix, but yeah, most of the explanations are right. Don't overlook "I bring the verve!" though.

Both the blue, with the red garniture, --- Blue thing. Red clothes.
and the red, with the blue coiffure --- Red thing. Blue hair.
I have known, but now I serve --- The answer has known them both
a greater purpose, I bring the verve! --- But serves a greater purpose.

Verve is enthusiasm. Someone that's served (I wanna guess Z+T), but changed their mind, and brings some kick into the story.

Steiner?

Rantz
09-13-2006, 07:03 PM
Nope, wrong :)

Hint: It's not a character.

Lenna
09-14-2006, 07:21 PM
If you're into colour theories, you could say that the serving could be related to Kuja, his colour in the game is a blue-ish purple, then he turned red through Trance, but then trance could be related to any character that serves as a higher authority.

My guess is the Cargo ship. In theory, you'll see that Zorn and Thorn were in charge of watching over the Black Mages.

Verve is enthusiam, but also another word for Animation and liveliness. Well at first, the cargo ship was designed to bring the mages to Alexandria. (to serve alexandria and her queen etc)

I bring the verve - I bring the animation? - I bring the puppets.

It's course changed when Zidane tried to get it through south gate, as did it's purpose. It's was to get Garnet to safety.

if it's not a character I would bet it is either the cargo ship, or Hilda Garde 2, as that was also in command of Zorn and Thorn when Zidane was sent to get the gulug stone.

Rantz

Your reasoning is always interesting to read but I'm afraid it's not right this time :D

Both "blue" and the first "red" are quite literal, while the second "red" is more hinting. And also "bring" is not so much "transport to" as it is "give to".

Lenna
09-14-2006, 10:02 PM
in that case I think Hippaul is the reference to the first Blue and red, but I'm still unsure about the second.

Hmm...the problem is, blue with red is a common theme with several characters, and even a lot of other things, not least of which is the Invincible. Looking at what the second red and blue could hint at, there is even more range for speculation. Which i cant be bothered to do right now. I doubt "I bring the verve" is being used to mean livening things up, as if it aint a character, it cant really be too lively, but even if it transports it, there is little to go on. I have just had a strange thought, so I 'll go with the plane Zorn and Thorn chase you in when you are on the ship to Lindblum.

No, neither Steiner's armour or that plane.

Lost Number, I think you missed something that I wrote earlier too: ;)

And also "bring" is not so much "transport to" as it is "give to".

If you all think there is too little to go on I could add a second verse, only if you want of course... It's sort of hard as the riddle maker to see how much you need to give away. :choc:

1. a style of arranging or combing the hair.
2. a head covering; headdress.

So could it mean the answer has a blue thing on top of it or something? :)

Rantz
10-03-2006, 11:53 AM
The second line does not refer to Lowell Bridges.

Lindblum is wrong.

The answer does not have a blue thing on top, but what that line refers to does. The two first lines refers to two individual subjects that aren't the answer themselves, but have something to do with the answer as told by the riddle.

Try posting your interpretations of the riddle (i.e., other ways it could be written) and I'll guide you as best as I can, young Jedi.

This probably doesn't mean anything, but I looked up "verve" (in the last line) in a thesaurus and it came up with Flair and Elan (Elan with an accent above the E.) I think Elan is the name of Amarant's Flair skills when he's in Trance? Just found that interesting. :)
As for the riddle itself, is the first line a hint to a character? Brahne is blue, with red clothes.

I'm gonna guess The Red Rose, Brahne's airship.
1st line - Brahne.
2nd line - Lindblum? I think the castle has blue turret thingies, and the red could be the fire the mage cause?
3-4th lines - Not really sure...

Rantz
10-07-2006, 04:26 PM
That's very interesting, but unfortunately Flair/Elan does neither have any connection to the answer nor are of any use for the riddle's solving.

The two first lines refer to characters, but neither refers to Brahne.

The Red Rose is wrong unfortunately.

and the red, with the blue coiffure - Ruby. Red, because her name is Ruby, and blue, because her hair is blue.
I have known, - Superslick has been in their possession.
but now I serve

To get into The Desert Palace you must choose the right pool of sand to walk into. If you choose wrong, you have to fight the Antlion.

One will lead you to escape, the other to a cage.
Upon defeating Antlion #1 (at Cleyra) you can escape, but when you get to The Desert Palace you'll get imprisoned.

The Queen of the Sword awaits at first,
Beatrix (at Cleyra)

but turns next into a powerful mage.
Kuja (at The Desert Palace)

Ok then, here's one (in a new post for slightly more attention :)):

My acquaintance you may have gotten
from the darkness, where I dwell
Although I may be gone and forgotten,
I know Father Time quite well
My former master hides in thin air,
his being you may have missed
to find him you may have to be aware
that he really does exist.

Now, when you've seen me, you may find
that you have seen me before
But only when you look behind
you'll find who I'm really made for
For although I have a close relative here,
a friend of yours, well and alive,
my own life span, it ended, I fear,
in Final Fantasy five.

So who am I, my playing friend?
Am I kin of men or mice?
Neither, but bring your doubt to end
With three times three, but twice.

All wrong. I'll start thinking out good clues soon. EDITH: Update with major hint

The riddle:
My acquaintance you may have gotten
from the darkness, where I dwell
Although I may be gone and forgotten,
I know Father Time quite well
My former master hides in thin air,
his being you may have missed
to find him you may have to be aware

Am I kin of men or mice?
Neither, but bring your doubt to end
With three times three, but twice.

Wrong answers:
Namingway Card
Gilgamesh
Sir Fratley
Necron
Kain
Black mages
Qu, Quale, Quan, Quina
Grand Lethal

Hints / notes:
The answer is a "what" (not a "who")
The last line suggests "99".

Lav Layderce was a who though. The cheeky Chico. Who's Edith by the way? You best not be cheating boy!

Question: Is "kin of men or mice" referring to Burmecian or Cleyran things, or is mice more of a metaphor for cowardice or something? Feel free to tell me to shove this question where the Sun occasionally shines if you think it'd give the answer away.

That line is actually one of the more irrelevant ones. Or well, it tells you (together with the "Neither" on the line below) that the answer is neither human nor mouse, but the "mice" part is mostly there for filling up and rhyming.

My first thought was a genome, but thats who. Then, i thought Black Mages...thats a what, isint it? There are no classic black mages in either FFVI, VII, or VIII, the last was in FFV. Three times three but twice is 18, which means what? And my former master...i dont know! I should be doing biology homework, not working on this. I'll go for the black mages.
For although I have a close relative here,
a friend of yours, well and alive, <-- Vivi?

Rantz
11-19-2006, 01:53 PM
You think right on many points, although Black Mages is the wrong answer and not very close. 18 is wrong as well, but I don't think you should focus too much on that.
You're thinking in the right lines when you say Vivi, but since Black Mages are far from the answer, Vivi is also far from the relative suggested.

Biology homework is futile! Actually no. :)

A lot of it sounds like the secret reunion with Quan at Quan's Dwelling to me. I haven't played FFIV though, so I don't know where that ties in. :) It's most likely miles from the answer, but hey, it's worth a try! :p

A few other thoughts have come to mind, one is the sword in Lindblum weapon shop, which is Clouds Buster sword. Wrong. Another is Zidanes Grand Lethal, or maybe the ability or weapon you get it from I'll research that. I go for Grand Lethal right now.

Rantz
11-20-2006, 04:53 PM
It is neither the Qu nor any Qu clan member. It is not Grand Lethal either, but yes, 99 is what the last line suggests.

The Boco card you win in Memoria?

My former master hides in thin air,
his being you may have missed
to find him you may have to be aware
that he really does exist. (you get the card from the phantom guy)

Now, when you've seen me, you may find
that you have seen me before
But only when you look behind (in previous games)

For although I have a close relative here,
a friend of yours, well and alive, (chocobos?)

my own life span, it ended, I fear,
in Final Fantasy five. (was it the last game he was in? i'm not sure)

With three times three, but twice. (card #99)

Rantz
11-25-2006, 10:30 AM
You are correct, Taggerung! My full reasoning is as follows:

My acquaintance you may have gotten
from the darkness, where I dwell
Although I may be gone and forgotten,
I know Father Time quite well
My former master hides in thin air,
his being you may have missed
to find him you may have to be aware
that he really does exist.
Rare Phantom, from which you win the Boco card, is invisible, he hides in the clock room (hence "I know Father Time quite well") in Memoria.

Now, when you've seen me, you may find
that you have seen me before
But only when you look behind
you'll find who I'm really made for
For although I have a close relative here,
a friend of yours, well and alive,
my own life span, it ended, I fear,
in Final Fantasy five.
Although you may recognize him as Choco (a close relative), he is actually Boco from Final Fantasy V.

So who am I, my playing friend?
"playing" refers to the fact that you have to play cards to acquire this card.
Am I kin of men or mice?
Neither, but bring your doubt to end
With three times three, but twice.
3*3 = 9, 9 twice = 99, which is the card's number.

Well done! Your go.

I follow the azure path to a gate and a mountain - The river in the forest to the gate
Mike Tyson would kill for my power. - TANTALUS TORNADO PUNCH or something.

The spark of the holy sword - You learn it from Excalibur, which is a "holy" sword in mythology - oops, it was Ragnarok, apparently. Also, the attack sort of looks like a spark, if I remember correctly.
Breaks and bends reality. - ?
Beware the climax of the plot - ?
For one may give a blind eye - ?
To the shocking disaster before them. - Shocking disaster could refer to the name.

Probably not, but just to keep it going.

Ragnarok.

You seem to have basically described the end of the world there, which in Viking culture is what Ragnarok was.

I recall hearing that, after the Vikings invaded Northumbria, Mercia and East Anglia, they began to take on Christianity, and as a result concluded Ragnarok had happened and that Adam and Eve were the survivors. No idea how true this is, though.

Rantz
01-22-2007, 09:33 AM
I don't know from where I got the idea that you learn Shock from Excalibur. Let's try Climhazzard instead:

The spark of the holy sword - This, you learn from Excalibur at least.
Breaks and bends reality. - When Beatrix uses it as a finale, it lowers all your characters' HP to 1, even though that is not what the attack "really" does.
Beware the climax of the plot
For one may give a blind eye
To the shocking disaster before them. - Maybe these lines refer to what happens after Beatrix uses Climhazzard. The "climax of the plot" is where Beatrix turns against Brahne after having given a "blind eye" to the "shocking disaster" she has caused.

Timster

abrojtm

You are all beating around the bush.
The answer is Beatrix's "Seiken" skill

The spark of the holy sword --Spark: "Thunder Shock" Holy Sword translates to Seiken from Japanese

Breaks and bends reality. Key word: Break--"Stock Break"

Beware the climax of the plot. -- Beware=hazzard + climax= Climhazard (I was running out of ideas)

For one may give a blind eye -- Refers to Beatrix, who wears a patch

To the shocking disaster before them. -- Shock.

The riddle as a whole referst to Beatrix's "Shock" when she realizes that she has indirectly betrayed her kingdom.

Rantz

It always seems easy for the one who makes the riddle :)

Anyway: I'm not sure where to start. The riddle seems abstract, as if to describe an event or feeling, rather than an item or a monster, for example. If we follow our minds too far in could be referring to Memoria, since it's a place built on their memories (their minds). To find an end, we must first begin seems like a key line.
That's all I've got for now, I'll guess Crystal World since I don't have any better guesses.

Well done! The Crystal it is! The clue I was ready to pop open was "It's right in front of you from the beginning", in that it's in the game's title art.

Even infinity will come to an close: The Crystal is the source of all creation and just keeps on going and going, but destroying it will stop that.

If we follow our minds too far in: End of Memoria, straightforward enough

It'll help share your fate, should no-one oppose: Kuja's attempt to destroy it, thwarted by Zidane and co.

To find an end, we must first begin: Just the first line again; stopping whatever's at the beginning will stop everything.

FIIIINALLY!

I've waited for so long to get a riddle, and I've already made one for FFVII,FFVIII and FFX as well. So here's the beginning of my riddle empire:evilking:, read and cry:mwahaha: :

My looks may be deceiving,
but it doesn't matter,

Is it Hilda? I never really saw her much in the game.

Rantz
01-28-2007, 07:20 PM
Tantarian?

Par. 1 - Well, it's a book. You don't expect to fight a book. You'll only battle Tantarian once.

Par. 2 - If the "Family reunion" is the ATE of the Nero brothers meeting up (which seems likely), then you can fight Tantarian shortly after, I think. Actually, you can fight him earlier (on disc 2) but I'm taking a chance. Everyone may not know, and all that.

Par. 3 - "Dry fly Annie", eh? Well, I'm guessing this is some sort of code to find the name of the answer. I looked around a little but I couldn't think of any excuses for my guess for this line, except that Ann (as in Tantari-Ann) could be a shorter name for Annie. I know, it's a long shot. :)
The last line could simply be a filler, but in this case it could refer to the Tantarian's way of speaking ("I've been found!", "See ya!").

Timster
01-29-2007, 02:29 PM
Nope it's not Hilda and not tantarian either.

Rantzien's reasoning is very good, too bad it's not right.

Sailor Erin?

Par. 1 - She may not look like a hardcore card player, but she enters the Treno Card Tournament as the Champion (although Cid is probably the one doing the playing). You will also only meet her once in the tournament.

Par. 2 - Pretty much the same reasoning as my last guess. The tournament takes place in Treno, shortly after the visit in Alexandria where you'll see the ATE "Long time no see!" (where the Nero brothers meet up).

Par. 3 - "dry" would refer to the fact that she is a sailor, but not in water, "fly" is obvious. "Annie"? I haven't a clue. :)
