Past passado, one of your guesses is correct. :D
feioncastor
07-11-2006, 11:53 PM
It's apparently Balk.
"Balk" refers to stopping abruptly and you said he does stuff without hesitation or squeemishness, and balk is neither hesitant nor squeemish to do lame stuff.
If I'm right, someone else can go. I'm in no state of mind to think up a clever riddle right now.
BG-57

Feion, we'll wait for you. But if you take too long...well, let me just quote BG-57 here.
I've enjoyed riddles in other forums, but I didn't see one here.
A couple of ground rules, which are typical for these kinds of threads:
1) Only one riddle should be posted at a time, until someone guesses it correctly.
2) The person who guesses the previous riddle correctly gets to post their own riddle.
3) Anyone who gets a chance to post a riddle can choose to let someone else post a riddle instead.
4) If a person who guesses a riddle correctly does not post one of their own within a day, someone else can post instead.

Haven't heard from him in a few weeks. I guess he's busy. :(
Nah, the riddles have been too damn hard! :p Seriously, I have been really busy. Thanks for missing me.
I'll take a guess that it's "Sing".
Plug your ears because the Bard's a bad singer?
He does sacrifice his action each turn in order to continue his song.
BG-57
07-18-2006, 03:20 AM

Guts.
BG-57
07-18-2006, 09:14 PM
Feion's right, the answer is additional skills in Guts:
The best set to have (Ultima)
If you plug your ears (Yell, Scream)
Still it has consolations (Cheer Up)
For the self-sacrificing (Wish)
feioncastor
07-19-2006, 08:13 AM
I knew that. Even without Ultima, Guts is almost always the secondary on Ramza for me.
A powerful menace, he is
A boss who can't stand failure
from those working for and with him.
But his bad side, well,
you'll end up snoozing away
or on your way to dead.

You are correct leon-, the answer is Javelin! Both versions have exactly the same name, but one is the spear with the best offensive power and the other is the worst. They have different appearances, so they're like fraternal twins.

BG-57

Welcome back Lich3636!
It's not Fort Zeakden or Deep Dungeon. It's a place though.
Ignorance refers to a skill.
The Amazing Spiderman
08-03-2006, 04:13 PM
Well...let me try guessing.
It's a place. And I think it's either one of these Two.
The first one, althought I don't think it is, is END.
Considering how in END you start at the bottom of the map, and your enemies frequently at the top. That's when de "Party ouf of reach" comes in.
In this one, "Ignorance" can be taken as "Ignore Height". Even thought you can just jump away happily to the top, there are black/blank spaces at the map between your party and that big, 15T cliff that doesn't allow you to do that.
Even thought it wasn't supposed to be, you can still Fly or Teleport and give a shot at your enemies.
My other one, and I think it's the one. LOST SACRED PRECINCTS.
That's another situation when your party and Balk's are far from each other, but they can still shoot the hell out of you, triple attack by the tiamats, etc.
In this one, "Ignorance" can be taken as "Ignore height" as the previous one. There are black/blank spaces between both parties, and you can only cross by Fly, Teleport, jumping where therea re only two blacks spaces, or fight your way down to the bridge, where the behemoth is passing by.
Woo-hoo.
BG-57
08-04-2006, 01:18 AM
It's not End or Lost Sacred Precincts, but you are right on the money with Ignore Height as the skill.

At any rate, FFT is the only game that I feel like an authority on. Although if I were a sleuth I would be prefer to be Mycroft Holmes, (Sherlock's older brother) who's more talented but less ambitious. :holmes:

Despotus

Not a bad guess, Conan. But, there are a few inconsistencies between your guess and the riddle. For starters, I think Worker 7-new does issue a warning to intruders and to the researchers. The riddle says no warning. Secondly, they are told to evacuate or retreat within 30 seconds. The riddle says "don't try to run". Thirdly, other than Reis' little problem, I can't think of any innocent life that hangs over our heads in that scene. I also mentioned that this "character" is from a cut-away scene, not a battle prelude. Keep the guesses coming folks.:)

When little Leo joined,
Or when a Virgo's equipment was purloined,
Or perhaps when a winged menace was slain,
What did you gain?
You can get up to 11 Zodiac Stones by the game's end, not including Leo and Virgo, so they no doubt belong to Vormav Tingel and Alma.
Little Leo would then refer to either Izlude or Meliadoul Tingel. But since only Meliadoul joins, it must be something she brings to the party.
Virgo's equipment must be the equipment you can strip from Alma in the brief time she's in the party roster.
A winged meance may refer to a monster that can be poached for the same item.
My guess is Barette, which can be stolen from Alma or poached from a Red Chocobo. I don't remember if Meliadoul has it in her inventory when she joins, but it's worth a shot.
Despotus
09-20-2006, 01:10 AM
You got it, B.G.!, although you didn't interpret all of the clues right. Little Leo referred to Alma, whose zodiac sign is Leo, bringing the Barette into the party when she briefly joined as a guest. The Virgo referred to is actually Celia (again it's her zodiac sign), whose Barette you can steal at Riovanes Castle. You were right on about the poachable item that can be gained from the winged, and menacing, Red Chocobo! You're up, Mycroft! :D
