Hey, hey, I'll take a shot if no one else will. =D

"I once knew a man with three faces;
We'd meet up in all sorts of places.
We once shared a dream,
'til he spoke of war like a stream -
and then finally ran out of aces.

Then there was a man with a stick,
(A teleport made the fight quick).
He condemned me to hell -
before slain near a bell.
His fights he knew not how to pick.

I also met with a warrior-lady, who,
Believed false information was true.
I admit she smelt nice,
though I about fought with her twice;
In the end it turns out she came through.

Add in a mage of incredible might,
With a misconstrued conception of 'right',
Playing behind the scenes,
For a terrible means,
Yet didn't last long in a fight.

Last but not least I had a foe,
And damnit, wouldn't you know,
This all-powerful being,
Lay dormant and scheming,
Inside of an innocent doe."

Each character respectively for the win. ;D

This should be easy for you guys. Maybe a little too easy. But it was fun to write. :3

You're a regular poet, Shinka :)

1) Delita. He's Ramza's friend, pretends to be different things to different people and speaks of defying the stream of fate.

2) Zalmo is the one who declares Ramza a heretic, but is easily defeated in the church battle if you teleport (or Ignore Height) up the church tower.

3) Meliadoul fights Ramza once, and switches sides mid-battle the next time she meets Ramza. She wears a perfume accessory.

4) EDIT: On second thought, it may be Kletian. He's a powerful wizard, loyally serving Vormav's dark designs, but is a complete pushover in the last battle against him.

5) Altima is the boss that was incarnate in sweet little Alma, Ramza's sister.

Shinka
09-26-2006, 01:11 AM
Point for BG. =D

Delita, Zalmo, Meliadoul, Kletian, and Altima. With Alma and Ramza in there. xD

Sorry if it was mind-numbingly easy, but like I said, it was fun to write. =P

Well then BG, your turn for a new riddle!

Despotus
09-26-2006, 02:58 AM
:D I loved that one, Shinka. I'm glad I deferred my turn! Where are ya, Mycroft?:p

BG-57
09-26-2006, 12:31 PM
It was actually tougher than it looked. I initially went with Elidibs as the wizard. :greenie:

Say, do you write poetry on commission, Shinka?

Anyways, here goes:

Here I wait by the gate
For my master to appear
With the twins in tow
Nothing memorable to say

Shinka
09-26-2006, 01:24 PM
Could it be 'Worker 7' you speak of, BG? He waits at that gate-ish entrance of Nelveska Temple, awaiting his long-dead masters' return, and has twin Hyudras in tow. And he doesn't say much.

First thing that came to mind, but my first guesses tend to be wrong. :rolleyes2

Editness: Oh, to answer your question, BG: I write stories and poems and such for fun, but I've never seen myself as particularly good at it. Certainly not skilled enough for people to commission anything. :rolleyes2

BG-57
09-26-2006, 07:33 PM
Good guess, but it's not Worker 7 New.

I'll send you a PM about the commission I had in mind.

conan
09-28-2006, 07:31 PM
Could you elaborate a little bit on the "twins in tow" line? I think I've got it, but I can't figure out which twins are in tow.

BG-57
09-28-2006, 10:27 PM
By that I mean the speaker is with two characters that could be twins.

Despotus
09-29-2006, 07:27 AM
What I was wondering is whether it was the twins or the speaker that had nothing memorable to say. :O_O:

BG-57
09-29-2006, 12:07 PM
The speaker.

feioncastor
09-29-2006, 02:22 PM
Does it have any relationship to the scene in Gariland Academy, right before you fight the thieves in Gariland? You know, right after the "No jobs. L I T T L E M O N E Y" thing? Those two guys talking look alike, and I guess that no one in that scene was completely memorable, save Ramza and Delita.

BG-57
09-29-2006, 06:04 PM
No, but you're correct in guessing that the 'twins' are generics.

conan
09-29-2006, 10:45 PM
Well I wanted to guess the chocobo standing in front of Igros Castle, before Ramza goes in to kill Dycedarg, but then I can't think of what the twins are, so that guess must be wrong.

BG-57
09-30-2006, 02:15 PM
It's not the chocobo at Igros.

The generics are human.

conan
09-30-2006, 06:15 PM
Another guess: The archer at Golgorand Execution Site! She is disguised as Princess Ovelia, and she's waiting near the gate waiting for her master Gafgarion to "appear" from his disguise. She has nothing memorable to say when Gafgarion asks "Any last words?" and the twins in tow are the two time mages up top who haven't shown up yet. Do I win?

BG-57
10-01-2006, 02:32 PM
It's not Golgorand Execution site either. Although the 'master' is Gafgarion.

Lich3636
10-02-2006, 05:14 PM
the gate of lionel castle. the twins are the 2 archers. speaker is the summoner

BG-57
10-02-2006, 07:15 PM
Not the gates of Lionel Castle.

feioncastor
10-09-2006, 12:01 PM
Hint time.

BG-57
10-09-2006, 12:25 PM
The speaker works for Gafgarion, but the 'twins' work for a different character.

feioncastor
10-09-2006, 12:47 PM
Is the speaker Rad, and the twins are Alicia and Lavian? I don't think that Rad ever says anything at all.

BG-57
10-09-2006, 12:51 PM
You are correct, Feion! The speaker is Rad when he hangs out with Alicia and Lavian at Orbonne Monastary.

Technically he has proposition-related dialogue if you send him off in proposition parties, but this is completely optional and even if you do, his remarks are nondescript.

feioncastor

feioncastor
11-09-2006, 06:22 AM
Sorry, my bad.

And no, I don't. My riddles are the ones that aren't ever answered incorrectly. I like BG variety riddles, the kind that seem completely senseless until Despotus answers it, and I say "ooooohhhh, I see."

The Round Shield? It's not round at all, and it can be held in either hand.

No, all the items of this class (that you get to see) look different on screen and in the inventory.

Algus.

feioncastor
11-27-2006, 06:56 PM
Or it could be a generic archer in a random battle that I don't kill because I want to gain JP. You know, where you almost kill him, but then you heal him, speed break him, weapon break him, and turn him into a chicken. Oh, and Don't Move/Don't Act if you have it. And Stop. And Slow, for when stop wears off.

Yeah, either that or Algus.

hey all, I was browsing through these quizzes at work last night, and had to join so I could partake in the action. I have a really good one that I've had for a few years now, I hope I get one of these right so I can give it to ya'll. My FFT knowledge is top knotch, however, i suck at answering riddles, so we'll just have to see how it goes.

feioncastor
11-28-2006, 04:36 PM
You could probably just go ahead and post. I'm sure the 24 hour stipulation has been satisfied.

Maddness66
11-28-2006, 08:18 PM
Ok then, so here goes.... Hope you all like it. I revised it into a riddle a while ago, was more or less just a question in the past...anyways, here goes....

From beginning till end
in darkness and in light,
I wake the sleeping and make them fight.
I give the gift of restless slumber and strength of stone,
to absorb the mighty, but not in flesh nor in bone.
All who gaze upon me know it true,
through darkness and light, for I always do

Who am I and what do I do?

BG-57
11-28-2006, 10:14 PM
Welcome aboard! :)

My first inclination is something that cancels Sleep, but I can't narrow it to one item specifically, so I'll go with my second inclination and guess the Cursed Ring, which adds +1 to MA, Strength, and Speed, but at the heavy price of making the wielder Undead.

Maddness66
11-28-2006, 10:17 PM
excellent guess, but you're incorrect

BG-57
11-30-2006, 12:23 AM
I may have to do this by elimination. :p

Is it the Grand Helmet, which cancels Sleep and Darkness?

Maddness66
11-30-2006, 08:45 PM
No, I'll give you a hint...

it's not something that can be equipped or that you use in battle

*EDIT*

From beginning till end
in darkness and in light,
I wake the sleeping and make them fight.
I give the gift of restless slumber and strength of stone,
to absorb the mighty, but not in flesh nor in bone.
All who gaze upon me know it true,
through darkness and light, for I always do

Who am I and what do I do?

I'm getting the feeling that this won't be solved...tomorrow I'll answer it if there hasn't been any more guesses or the correct answer. If you do want to try it out once more, I'll give you one last hint. Each line has some sort of significance in the answer. Figure each one out, and you'll get the answer, but you need to think outside the box to get the second part.

Maddness66
12-03-2006, 03:40 AM
From beginning till end - this line implies everytime, from the first to the last you see a Zodiac Stone.

in darkness and in light, - this line signifies the evil and the good in the object. It turned the Shrine Knights into Lucavi, but resurrected Malak from the dead.

I wake the sleeping and make them fight. - Raising the dead in battle to fight. Zalera summoned undead to fight in battle with him.

I give the gift of restless slumber and strength of stone, - this line describes the power given to the Lucavi demons. The skill "Nightmare" is used by Queklain and Zalera and "Titan" is used by Velius

to absorb the mighty, but not in flesh nor in bone. - Bloodsuck, which is given to Zalbag with the stones power

All who gaze upon me know it true, - you know its the stone when you see it due to its unique appearance in the game

through darkness and light, for I always do - this is the toughest line...I didn't really give any good hints as to what it is the Zodiac Stone does...you just have to know through paying attention to the game. Every time you see the stone light sparkles from it, even in the darkness of the Deep Dungeon.

Who am I and what do I do? - Zodiac Stone and everytime you see one, it sparkles.

Agreed. Here, here. *SECONDS THE MOTION WITH A RAISED HAND*:thumb:

The desire to go home

A poorly worded riddle, and quite easy, but keeps the thread alive.

Perhaps it refers to the Nanten deserters at Grog Hill? They wanted to go home because they were tired of the war, and they thought that by killing Ramza they might get a pardon.:monocle: Thought I'd stop by and say howdy folks! Hope you're all well! :)

BG-57

Well, Feion? Shall I riddle you?

feioncastor
01-21-2007, 08:38 PM
Despotus is correct!

I long for your riddling. To be riddled by Despotus is indeed a great honor. I only hope that I shall be able to rise to the riddle and venture a guess that is at least something close to the answer you're looking for.

Despotus
01-22-2007, 08:13 AM
I hope this one satisfies and satiates your longing, Feion!

A leading night with lots of wind,
seen at the start but absent throughout,
although I've only seen battle once,
my power is often heard on the battlefield.

You've been riddled...:joker:

BG-57
01-22-2007, 11:47 PM
I'm inclinded to guess this is a one-battle character, so I'll go with Ovelia, who appears in the opening of the game, but gets kidnapped. Her MBarrier skill is very handy.

Despotus
01-23-2007, 05:28 AM
No, sorry, it's not Ovelia. She is rather prominent throughout the game in spite of, or argueably because of her kidnapping; but the answer to the riddle truely is "absent throughout" most of the game.

dodhungry
01-23-2007, 09:29 PM
well my first guess would be Zalbag. After thinking about it it didnt quite seem right but alas im going to stick with my gut feeling. He is only seen a few times at the begining but after that he only appears in a couple of scenes.

There is only 1 battle that he fights as a guest.

And supposidly he is a ledgend on the battle field.

BG-57
01-23-2007, 11:06 PM
Teta perhaps? She wasn't a fighter but appears in one battle. And her name casts a shadow over the rest of the story.

conan
01-24-2007, 04:06 AM
Could it be.....Shiva the summon?

Despotus
01-25-2007, 02:59 AM
All very good guesses, but unfortunately no one has gotten it yet. BG was really close, but Teta doesn't satisfy the first line of the riddle. Conan, shiva is often heard on the battlefield and has a long wind, but I can't think of other ways it fits the riddle. And Dod, Zalbag was a great warrior but he's been in many battles and we see him often throughout the game.:greenie:

Hint: The riddle may make a little more sense when you read it aloud.

BG-57
01-25-2007, 09:01 PM
I sense a pun here (night=knight). Since I'm close, I'm going to guess a Knight involved in the same battle, Golagros. He talks pretty big, but to no avail, to either himself of his hostage.

On a side note, he reminds me of Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs; overly talkative in tense situations.

Despotus
01-26-2007, 12:14 AM
Getting closer, BG... you're right about the pun (night=knight), but it's not Golagros. ;)

BG-57
01-26-2007, 02:42 AM
Gustav then?

feioncastor
01-26-2007, 07:05 AM
Gaff Gafgarion, maybe?

You see him at the beginning, and dies and isn't seen again. But you do see his powers a lot once you get Orlandu. Also, he's a Dark Knight, or a "Night".

The "absent throughout" might refer to how you see him at the beginning of the game but never again through chapter 1.

Despotus
01-26-2007, 07:18 AM
Not those knights (Gaff and Gustav), get closer to the beginning...:shifty:

BG-57
01-26-2007, 12:43 PM
Lezales, the Knight who leads the enemies in front of the first Orbonne monastary battle?

Despotus
01-26-2007, 05:00 PM
Nah... the answer to the riddle appears earlier than Orbonne... ahem... earlier. Hint, hint. :quarter:

feioncastor
01-27-2007, 01:24 AM
Before the Orbonne fight, you only see Simon, Ovelia, Agrias, Ramza, Gafgarion, and a female knight who dies.

Perhaps you're referring to Agrias.

Despotus
01-27-2007, 02:15 AM
Nope, sorry. Agrias also is quite prominently featured throughout the game, at least she is in my party.;) No more hints for the time being. Good luck ladies and gents!

feioncastor
01-27-2007, 03:18 AM
Oh, I think I got it!

The flashback scene in which Balbanes dies is technically before Orbonne, as is all of Chapter 1.

In that scene, you see Dycedarg, who is a "Lune" Knight, which is a mispelling of "Rune", much like "night" is to "knight". You only see him fight once, but the moves he uses in that fight are seen used by a few other characters.

That doesn't do much for the absent throughout line, but maybe I'm right anyway.

Despotus
01-28-2007, 04:45 AM
That doesn't do much for the absent throughout line, but maybe I'm right anyway.

Sorry, Feion, that line is oh so vital to understanding the riddle.:p

feioncastor
01-28-2007, 07:56 AM
Alma, perhaps? She gets nabbed by Vormav and friends and is absent. You see in her in the scene where Balbanes dies, I think.

dodhungry
01-28-2007, 08:53 AM
ok here is a shot in the dark for a random guess. Im going to say the death corps knight you fight in the slums of dorter. 1) He leads that fight and that fight is the only fight he is in. 2) He has lots of wind cause he spills the beans about the death corps location. 3) Power is heard on the battle field cause you use generic knights like him all the time. 4) its in chapter 1 so before the monastary. :holmes:

Despotus
01-29-2007, 02:00 AM
Alma is hardly a "night", and she is present during different parts of the game, especially the end. As for the Death Corps knight, a very good guess but the answer to the riddle actually has a name and is well known in Ivalice. Keep trying!:)

BG-57
01-29-2007, 11:28 PM
I'll guess Balbanes, although he's unlikely since we don't actually see him in any battles.

Despotus
01-30-2007, 02:59 AM

Not Balbanes, he's seen plenty of battles.:fencing:

Is it Professor Darovan, who had little combat experience, but taught an easy class at the Academy? He's so notoriously long-winded that Mediators have named a sleep spell called Mimic Darovan in his honor.

Despotus
02-01-2007, 04:48 PM
Oh yeah! BG-57 got it! I knew you wouldn't disappoint me, Mycroft. :holmes:

"A leading night with lots of wind,"
Prof. Bordam Daravon is regarded as a 'Leading Knight' and he gives notoriously long-winded lectures at the Academy.

"seen at the start but absent throughout,"
Daravon is the 'instructor' in the FFT tutorial, which some people might actually try before starting the game, but is never seen during the story.

"although I've only seen battle once,"
Prof. D. only fought in one battle during the 50-year war.

"my power is often heard on the battlefield."
'Mimic Daravon', as BG mentioned, is a Mediator Talk Skill that puts enemies to sleep.

:mwahaha:Excellent work, Mr. 57. I look forward to your riddle! :D

BG-57
02-01-2007, 10:17 PM

Name the composer. :D

Despotus
02-05-2007, 11:32 AM
I'm guessing this could relate to a proposition? Is it the artist Mamenko (sp)? Otherwise, I'd say the 'composer' of this riddle is BG-57!:D

BG-57

Good guesses, but no. The composer is a well known real person. :p

Yeah, although it's not him.

The five items can be found in a specific place.

BG-57
02-11-2007, 04:09 AM
It's not a shop. The first line is a weapon, but not a staff. But you guessed Pheonix Down correctly.

EDIT: Oops, I see why you guessed a staff. Let me change the riddle to make it more accurate:

An Imperial aid
Soothing Strings and Drinks
