  1. VNs in the Steam Summer Sale!

by , 06-14-2015 at 12:24 PM (Karifean's Blog of Visual Novels)
Figured I might as well make this little list for anyone interested in taking advantage of the current Summer Sale to grab a couple of games.

planetarian ~the reverie of a little planet~ is 50% off, putting it at € 4,99. Being made by the same company who also made CLANNAD and Little Busters!, naturally, I can only recommend it. It's only three hours long and thus definitely one of the best 'short' (<5h) visual novels I've ever read. Especially if you like Key, or you're interested ...
  2. Religion

I'm not a religious man, but I've recently discovered that my cat is a Protestant.

I found a dead cardinal on my doorstep.

  4. One last rant about a certain Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy XIII is a game I haven't talked a lot about on my blog or social media, so allow me to start this rant off with my thoughts on the game.

    I didn't like it.

Now, ever since I made my feelings of this game known, I have had several people from the FFXIII fan community (apparently this exists) that has come out of the woodwork to explain to me why I'm wrong and should give the game a second chance to the point of excessive nagging. So, allow me to address each ...
  5. AIR: Why the Key community is amaaaazing

Even if you haven't read AIR, this is just wonderful.

  6. Days of PokePast - The Wonderful Art of Pokemon Generation 1

The Wonderful Art of Pokemon Generation 1

I love Pokemon Gen 1. I loved it when it came stateside in '98, and I love it still now, nearly two decades later. It is a strange, almost experimental feeling set of titles, defined by many odd quirks, bugs, and choices the developers ironed out in subsequent generations, and because of this, it, more so than any other generation in the series, has a distinct ...

  7. Hit Reset

So I took some time off of my exercise program because I was dreading it, I had a hurt knee, and I broke down crying. So I focused on weights and jogging for a little bit. Going to start the program back up again tonight and hopefully it will be more successful.

Also going to start volunteering at the sexual abuse trauma center again as an on call person. My car is broken so I can't intern there now, but sharky is home in the evenings for crisis calls.

    I'm not feeling too ...

  8. Days of PokePast - Top and Bottom Pokemon of Gen 1

Heyyyy, I found my way back to the blog section again finally, and DAMN did I fail my original goal! I even forgot everything I had intended to say about the Gen 1 games after I finished Yellow again. Man, I'm so awesome. >: D

That said though, I've always felt bad that I stated my intention to do something in this space and then simply ignored it right afterwards, especially since I did play through Pokemon Yellow again specifically for better perspective on the first generation. ...

  9. Cross†Channel First Impressions

by , 05-29-2015 at 01:09 AM (Karifean's Blog of Visual Novels)
Well... I've never felt this in the dark about how a visual novel might turn out.

At first glance Cross†Channel takes place in a typical highschool setting. Immediatly the protagonist, Taichi Kurosu, turns out to be one of the most annoying characters I've seen in a while because he spends every scene sexually harassing one of the girls. No, seriously, I can't think of a single scene involving a female character where ...
  10. AIR Air Arc Thoughts

by , 05-26-2015 at 10:20 PM (Karifean's Blog of Visual Novels)
About time I posted this. Between university, Higurashi and Cross Channel I forgot about it for some time, but the bookclub still has me coming back to it every so often.

So Air is AIR's final arc. The arc's name is actually also capitalized, but to make a distiction I'll take the liberty to change that. They really couldn't have picked a more confusing name, could they?
