Watched In the Mouth of Madness the other day. Not a particularly bad movie. The things that held the movie down were the scenes between Styles and the main character were painful to watch, and then the fact that (SPOILER)I hate it when there is nothing the main character can do to stop anything. I don't really mind the good guys loosing, don't get me wrong, but at least give them a chance, and then have them fail. Not just give them no opprotunity to begin with. The seen at the very end was great though.

Maybe when I have the time I will read everyones posts in this thread because I am interested in renting movies- especially the ones that can't be found in movie rental stores these days.
Last movie I watched "The Darjeeling Limited" was a good comedy. Basically about three brothers that go on the The Darjeeling Limited to catch up on time in recent event of the death of their father. They travel throughout India on a spiritual journey. I liked the film and thought it was a good movie...
I saw Year One. It was entertaining, If you like jack blacks comedy you'll like it. Otherwise it'll probably be a miss for you. The best part was the leeroy jenkins skit in the special features. :P

It was interesting how they made this children's classic play out, and the effects were stunning, but not much really happened. The wild things were characterized pretty well and the little boy did a great job.

I watched 30 Days of Night (xD... I have about five/six times now).
- It doesn't feel like it paces on for 30 Days, that aspect is indeed what the minds behind the film failed on.
- The atmosphere is pulled off rather well save for some illogical antics (used to take the pacing of the film events somewhere, which is understandable).
- The important vampires are all there (save for Vincente who was replaced by Marlow).
- The story has a deep focus on the events involving Eban and Stella.
- It's missing what makes the vampires special (Save for maybe a half minute where Marlow is using his nails to gather henchman, and the slight event where Arvin hints that hey, maybe these vampires are extremely smart and resourceful).
- Cunning is shown through the beautiful Zurial and, mindless (but controlled) acts of insanity are shown through the stunning Iris.
- Awkward jump cuts here and there (don't ruin the movie, but I can't help but notice them after seeing the film a lot).
- The violent nature of the ghoulish vampires (It's clear that the old Nosferatu film inspired the look) are welcome any time at my place :D!

Where the Wild Things Are is quite possibly one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen.
Weak plot, dragged in the middle, non-definitive ending, but my god. There were scenes in that film where I almost cried it was so lovely to see.

I agree with Del Miriel that it dragged out in some parts. The boy was a great actor, but I still think having James Gandolfini as the voice of Carol was a weird casting choice. There were some things that were very subtle about the film that I liked. It may you pay attention to body language and interpret it for what it is rather than blatantly having a conversation about what the characters are feeling. The CGI animation looked amazing, but there were some parts where the Wild Things didn't move as fluently as they could have. I also thought the soundtrack was great and fit nicely with the film. All in all, enjoyable film though disturbingly violent for a kid's flick.
Overall...7.5/10

I recently watched Where the Wild Things Are and Paranormal Activity.
I am a Spike Jonze junkie. Hell, I've basically been free promotion for Wild Things since I saw the trailer and wouldn't shut up about it to anyone. Despite all my personal hype, I'm in love with the movie. I heard so much about a boring middle and lack of narrative but I was riveted the whole time. Maybe I'm one of those early-20's guys that just has to look at it and make cute sense of every monster and line, but whatever. It's not perfect and it's not for everyone, but it is exactly for me. I'm not even going to score it.
Paranormal Activity. What you don't see is usually the scariest! There were spans of time where nothing much happened yet I never felt like nothing was happening. Some interesting stuff going on spotted here and there. Though I still can't decide of Micah is a BAMF or just a retard. I got the 2007 ending which I think is way superior to the new theatrical ending, but either is fine enough, I guess. 4/5

It didn't look like much in the commercials, but I was so impressed by how well they combined really adult issues into a really genuien and hilarious story.
I liked how an older man was the hero, and how it dealt with (psychology nerd :(), his struggle to find integrity at the end of his life to look back and see that he did accomplish so much. I liked that it was people in this movie too. Usually Pixar doesn't do that much for me (aside from Finding Nemo and Toy Story, a lot of the movies have been pretty good, but now WOW like Disney usually is), but I was so impressed.

watching this explained a lot of what my peers always found scary I never understood before.
The beginning was too slow, and I almost couldn't stay awake long enough to get to the good parts. The good part was pretty good though.
The Host. Not as original as I had hoped but still a damn good movie in its own right.
Just saw Zombieland. So much fun! - I really enjoyed it all the way through.
...and Emma Stone is pretty damn hot in it.
The last movie i veiwed was A clockwork orange
that is a very strange movie that has kept me entertained mostly from the pure strangeness of the movie
It has alot of gang violence and sex/rape scenes at the start which did a quite good job and getting me interested in the movie then it went into to a quite interesting veiw into the main characters mind whilst he is doing those things. I would suggest watching it because it is quite obscure and entertaing and he has a awsome english accent

I was just bored this morning and was looking through the guide to find something to watch. This came up on tbs I think and it said that Dinero and Snipes starred in this movie so I gave it a try. It was a pretty good film for me. Though I believe you can only give a real critic on a film if you've watched it at least twice.
From this watch though I really liked the movie. In case you never seen or heard of it it's about a man whose down on look with his job as a knife salesman. He's also been granted limited custody of his son by his child's mother. When things go out of hand though and he can't get a grip on life he becomes this over obsessive fan and of the famous baseball player that is played by Snipes and tries to do whatever he can for the man. My summary sounds funny, because I don't want to spoil too much. It's an old movie though. made back in 96. It was entertaining enough for me and I give it a hefty 7/10.
The Proposal - No immortal classic, but cute and pretty funny. Feelgood~
The Last Sect
It's a little different from the run of the mill vampire movie, it's still bad though XD!
Lesbian Vampires turning woman into beautiful vampiress' while men get turned into mindless zombies XD! Decent laughter was had... and the action choreography is very well filmed for the budget. but I doubt laughter was the feeling meant to be induced...
Changeling. Directed by Dirty Harry himself and based on a true story, very compelling my retinas still haven't recovered from sitting so close to the TV.
花樣年華. A pretentious bore and enormous let down.
The Men Who Stare at Goats
Surprisingly funnier than I first imagined with a nice dark sense of humor that suits my taste. Pretty good acting and just an overall fun premise. May need to pick up the book that inspired the film. I give it, 8 whiffle bats out of 10 starfishes. :p
Zombieland.
The zombie gore was appropriately cheesy and the Bill Murray stuff was pretty amusing. The characters were ok. I didn't think it was as funny as I was expecting based on other people's reactions. I don't get the cult hype this movie got. It was entertaining enough but nothing special.

This film should have been called, "Men in Love" because Oliver Reed's character and What's-his-name's character have a homoerotic wrestling match while naked and sweaty. Chyeah. This film was directed by Ken Russell and if you're familiar with him you'll know he is a crazy British bastard whose done other insane films like, The Devils, Altered States (which I have in my possession but haven't watched yet), Crime of Passion and Music Lovers.
But instead of watching this boring, Brokeback Mountain esque film, you should watch Rififi.
Overall...9 outta motha trucking 10.
Saw VI:
Not as grotesque as the last three, which is good. I watch these movies despite the gore unlike many other blood hungry kids out there, I watch them hoping there'll be an amazing plot twist. Unfortunately, this is the first saw movie where I've been able to guess the twist, so that was a bit disappointing. On the other hand, this movie answered a question I've been wanting to know since Saw 3, what was inside Amanda's envelope. I was almost starting to think they had forgotten all about it. They also answered my other question from Saw 5, which is what was inside the box. Yeah, I need to know what's inside things. I was so sure this movie would tie in more with Saw 5 though, with the two survivors and the building everyone had in common, but I guess not. all in all, not a bad Saw movie.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
It really wasn't what I had expected, which was kind of nice - everything was fairly fresh, despite having seen a few of the clips before. It was very unsettling and creepy. The low budget really did wonders for it. Overall a very solid horror movie, and I can see why it's held in such high regard. I'm considering getting the remake but I'm not sure if it'd be worth it.

This Is It
Basically a collection of all the rehearsal footage for MJ's concerts he was going to do before he died. Quite excellent really. I'm happy they focused solely on him being alive and didn't turn it into a depressing tribute film where everyone talks about him in past tense. It felt like a normal behind the scenes documentary. The concert would have been actually pretty awesome, I really loved some of the specail effects they were using and the costumes. MJ still had all his moves and was quite impressive for a guy in his fifties.
Great music collection with beautiful numbers. It was also really interesting to see how involved MJ was in making everything a reality. I had heard he was a control freak but seeing him in action was a sight to behold. An overall, really good film. :cool:

The House of the Devil. It was made in 2009 but takes places in and looks like it was made in (on purpose) the 80's. It had glowing reviews, but honestly I wasn't that into it. Like 50% of it is a girl walking through a house and turning on lights and then turning them off again. I don't mind slow pace that builds up suspense but after a while it wasn't working anymore, then the "pay off" was not good and the ending stupid. Oh well :desu:
Big Trouble in Little China on Blu Ray. Quality 4/5.

You can tell its a Wes Anderson film, its definetly got his humor and yes, it is random but in a good way really. The stop motion is off putting at first but really works for the film. The soundtrack as usual is quirky and works well with the film.

Requiem for a Dream. Very good movie. Interestingly done in some points. Certainly a good message to it, and one that is very well handled.
Oh, and Lux Aeterna. Lux freaking Aeterna, people. Oh my gasm.
While I would never endorse heroin use, two of the biggest dangers it causes (risk of overdose and risk of infection through dirty needles) are direct consequences of its illegality; the former could be solved by regulating the drug's consistency and the latter could be solved by distributing clean needles. Requiem is a very well-made film, but it completely misses the point.
The last film I watched was Brazil, which I found to be perfectly made in every respect. Certainly a bizarre film, with tons of symbolism I have to confess I'm not even close to understanding, but it has a very good message and the way it presents it is chillingly effective. No surprises there since it's Terry Gilliam. I'll have to watch Time Bandits next.
I was very surprised to find out that Brazil is apparently also a favourite film of the American Right. This seems to have surprised Gilliam as well. Apparently they missed the numerous subtle jabs at big business and consumerism throughout the film.

I saw the film years ago and in multiple sittings so it's entirely possible I just missed it. If that's the case then I should probably re-watch it.
Trainspotting
Very interesting flick. Sorta hard to watch at points but that really seems like part of the whole idea. It's strange that it appeared to have been marketed as such a fun, hip movie when really the narrative is pretty bleak. Not as soul-crushing as Requiem for a Dream in regard to its treatment of addiction, but not exactly a walk in the park. Very interesting film though, stylishly done and a pretty fascinating look into a whole different culture. Danny Boyle is really becoming one of my favorite directors.
Paranormal Activity
I may very well be the only person to find this movie absolutely hilarious. I can just see this big demon laughing his ass off as he torments this poor girl, simply because he has nothing better to do with his time. And the fast forward moments the girls standing still cracked me up. She was shaking like a little ankle bitter who couldn't move or speak. XD
Though, judged the movie on it's own merrits, the twos reactions to the situation were very realistic, and the effects were well done, especially considering the budget. However, it failed in it's entirety to scare me.
I give this movie a 2/5, simply because the movie failed to do what it had intended. Though mind you, I've never been scared by a horror movie, so perhaps I'm not a good person to listen to in regards to this film. :p

Impressed with the creation of suspense. I thought it handled that very well. However, I thought the acting was somewhat sub par. As Neo's said, the effects were well done. Obvious and simple, but well handled and the actors supported the effects well. Perhaps the only good acting was when they were silent and just moving around looking at stuff.
Anyway, quite a good film. Nothing spectacular. Didn't find it particularly scary. Oh, and the ending sucked ass. Would much have preferred Spielberg's ending. :colbert:

My mother bought this movie from a guy at work because one of her co-workers said it was good. Turned out it wasn't. My brother and his roommate came to my house and he told my mom to watch it. She watched some of it, but this is my review.
The movie was very average. I was thinking it was some kind of horror movie, but it's really not. It's just an average I guess you can call it thriller slasher. I wasn't scared in the least. That's not the whole reason why I don't like it though. I was guessing the events of the movie the whole way through and it was pretty predictable. My brother's roommate asked me did I see the movie when I was guessing how the ending was going to be and I replied "No I've just seen this kind of movie a dozen times"
There wasn't much original about this except that the little girl was Russian and that's about it. The supposed twist wasn't surprising for me either.
Yeah predictability goes way to the bottom on my list.

The last movie I watched was Adventureland. I was pleasantly surprised by it, specifically the performance by Kristen Stewart (not to mention how attractive she is in the movie). Jesse Eisenberg did another good job, quickly becoming one of my favorite awkward boys to watch stumble around on screen. All-in-all, good movie.
I also watched The Man From Earth, which, without hopefully giving too much away, is about an "immortal" teacher. It is comprised of a cast of about 7 or 8 people and takes place in and around the living room of a very small house. It is extremely dialogue-dependent, since that's what about 95% of the movie is comprised of, and extremely good.
Oh, and I watched Mysterious Skin. It is, without a doubt, the most difficult to watch movie that I have ever seen and I actually had to pause it at one point because it's just so damn painful to watch. Highly suggested though because it's amazing.
Watch all three.
Now I'm going to watch (500) Days of Summer.

I saw Children of Men for the first time several days ago and was highly impressed by it. Technically it was a very well made film, with an extremely evocative atmosphere that made the dystopian setting viscerally real, and I appreciated the social commentary. A lot of nice music choices too.
Apart from that I watched Iron Man and Star Trek for like the billionth time each. I love both films a lot and can't really evaluate them objectively anymore.

Tokyo Zombie: It's a very silly zombie comedy. It wasn't bad - I was quite entertained the whole time, but I can't really call it hilarious. I can't think of many laugh-out-loud moments during the whole thing. It was just silly. The bar has been raised pretty high for zombie comedies thanks to Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, and this really isn't a bad movie to watch if you're in the mood, but it's definitely not destined to be a cult classic. I was also disappointed at both the lack of gore and relatively little usage of jujitsu on the zombies.
Matilda: A lot of times I find that when I watch movies from my youth that they're rose-tinted from nostalgia, but this one actually remains pretty good. Stands up well both for kids and adults, I think.
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels: This movie was a blast. I always got the impression that Snatch was more highly regarded but I felt like this was stronger overall. The plot is so intricate, and the web of characters so complex, that I really was just completely sucked in. It's a shame that (from what I read) Guy Ritchie's kinda lost his touch, because this was really a wonderful and fun movie.
The Prestige
This movie was hardcore suspenseful.
(SPOILER)It really freaked me out that the other magician had an identical twin and thats how he worked his trick. And the clone thing was really smurfing cool.
One Hour Photo
Well, at first the film had seemed like some kind of stupid stalker's film to me, then however, when Sy (Was that his name?) started to become mad about wanting to become a member of the family and mixing up their problems as a family, the film started to become interesting.
Especially the last scene with the officer is extremely intense. Great movie, just as expected from Robin Williams (:
Shoot 'em Up was dumb as hell. I saw a Felini film called Nights of Cabria the other day and it was hilarious. The main woman in it reminded of the chick from Strangers with Candy.

I suppose the best way to sum it up is to say this: All I could think of while watching was how good Jurassic Park, Aliens, Starship Troopers etc would look with this technology. 4/10. :( watch District 9 instead.
Meet Joe Black - I love the concept of Death being in the real world and interacting with people. It's a good movie sad :( but good!

I really enjoyed this. The story was very unique and Margie was adorable. The scenery reminded me a lot of being home too so that was fun also. Overall just a really great movie, no particular highlights or anything, it's just overall a really solid film.

Twilight: New Moon. Nothing happens.
I just saw two films back to back.
The Red Canvas is a martial arts drama about a man and his strained relationship as well as a big tournament on the titular red canvas.
The story turned out to be surprisingly compelling by juggling the two storylines about family and the tournament and mixing them together in the end, and the actors did a decent job. The fight choreography and cinematography are amazing; the fight scenes are mind-blowingly epic in a good way with enough lingering shots mixed with frenetic pacing to really get your blood bumping. The final battle alone is a highlight as the hero has to go through not only a physical but psychological battle as well.
What really elevates this film, however, is the score by James Peterson. I never expected to hear a powerful orchestral score for a martial arts film, and Peterson really delivered a beautiful yet brutal score that really complements the story on screen. The final, 11-minute cue titled "Ballet for Brawlers" is a highlight and it really makes the final battle epic as it goes through all the leitmotifs that the score had presented earlier in the film. All in all this film is worth watching if you enjoy a compelling mix of brutal fights and an emotional family drama.
Another film I saw was Gilda. The story's about a small-time gambler who ends up in a casino at Buenos Aires and his relationship with the casino's owner and Gilda, the owner's wife.
The first thing I have to praise about it is the sparkling chemistry between the leads: Glenn Ford and Rita Hayworth really steal the show with their amazing acting and how they really elevate the love-hate relationship between their characters to an epic level. Cinematography is wonderful as well with slick camera moves, use of perspective and manipulation of shadows and light to set the right mood.
The music is really memorable as well with tango rhythms being played in the background, but the most memorable scenes are the musical bits with Gilda singing. The song that I really liked was "Amado Mio" which is definitely one of the most stunning moments in film history. The film as a whole is definitely worth watching if you enjoy good music, a surprisingly complex plot and film noir elements.

My first problem with this movie: since it is an all boy's school the director casts boys for the female parts. Yes, in Shakespeare's time this was how it was done, but this is NOT how any Catholic boy's school would do it EVER.
The main character is a homo who plays the fairy (hahahaha) in the play. He finds a "magic love potion" in the play . . .
My second problem with this movie is that NO SUCH POTION EXISTS IN THE PLAY! Bad, bad, bad screen writing to invent something that is supposedly in a famous piece of literature that simply isn't there.
The boy uses the magic potion to cause people to fall in love . . . but by some absurd coincidence, the first person each person sees is only that of the same sex. Come on! And not only that, it causes them to not only fall in love, but to adopt stereotypically gay mannerisms and lifestyles. And to suddenly spout Shakespearian poetry even if they would have never before been the sort of person who would have read it.
Naturally the main character causes the straight jock he has a crush on to fall for him.
So when the drama teacher catches on and doesn't seem to be surprised at ALL that there is magic afoot
she advises him to return everyone back to normal, including the jock he likes. He does. But what's this? The jock is still in love with him?
The end.
I HATED this movie. Of course, I'm probably mainly bitter that they stole my idea and defecated all over it, thereby preventing me from ever getting my rock opera produced . . . but thems the brakes.
Regardless, it's an awful movie.
But the boys are cute and the music is good.

7/10 - Crappy storyline, beautiful visuals. I thought it was solid popcorn flick entertainment, but nowhere near as good as people are hyping it to be. I've heard it compared to Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, but no. Just no. It was decent.
Delicatessen -
Finally saw this after meaning to torrent it for ages. I love Jeunet, but I was ambivalent because the plot is similar (greatly similar) to Sweeny Todd, and I absolutely detested that movie - it was the only movie I almost just stopped watching in the end from pure hatred. But then I remembered that Jeunet isn't some twat trying to get back his Nightmare Before Christmas glory, so I watched it.
This film was really great; probably one of the funniest ones I've seen in a while. The imagery was also fantastic, one of the things you wouldn't expect in a movie like Delicatessen. A shockingly good first movie attempt.

When I first heard about it I thought this movie would blow. Then it got some good reviews and people were talking about how it blew them away. I found it somewhere in the middle. The visuals were stunning at times but there was never a point where I was blown away or thought this movie would change filmmaking. The story was completely unoriginal and absurdly predictable at times, and besides the doctor none of the characters stood out to me at all. The 3D experience was pretty cool and it was probably what made it worth the money. I also liked the fight scenes.

Last movie I saw was Brothers. Was pretty good though it wasn't what I thought it was gonna be. Then again, the way my boyfriend described it, we both thought there'd be more melodrama. The last segment of the movie felt a bit too long but at the same time it felt appropriate after the fact. Worth seeing it if you like drama and something that is not too over-the-top and that is a bit slow paced.
You'd be hard pressed to find a non-religious school putting on any play with guys kissing each other, let along a Catholic school. It's pretty much 100% unreasonable. Huge mistake of the movie Number One. And even IF somehow the drama department got away with it, you'd be hard pressed to find straight guys willing to play those roles, especially the straight guys as shown in the film.Quote:

What if I told you I was doing a movie about someone who finds a copy of The Wizard of Oz and discovers in the old book a diagram to build giant robots to take over the world?
The reason why that's idiotic is because EVERYONE knows there's no such diagram in the book The Wizard of Oz. So should I write a script where a character finds such a thing, it would be considered a VERY awful device in screen writing terms.
If these people wanted to do a movie about some gay boy turning everyone gay, fine. But it has NOTHING to do with A Midsummer Night's Dream. And they should have left it alone. Or at least followed the rules set up in Shakespeare's play.
This would mean NO "magic potion" but the boy would somehow have to find the flower that Puck originally used in the play. This flower would not make people magically adopt a gay stereotype, but just make them fall for whomever they first saw. That's not difficult to pull of. But resorting to idiotic cliches and juvenile screenwriting explains why these film makers can only make bad gay b movies.

The point of the movie is to rely on laughable coincidences? Better screen writers would not depended on the gay aspect and caused the love flower to create all sorts of OTHER interesting combos. Why? Is she some bad reject character from Charmed or something? Why would any sane person EXPECT that magic is going to turn everyone gay? If she's supposed to be some sort of supernatural being or whatever, they should have developed it. I would say awful. It's seriously the worst movie I've seen in at least a couple years. And I've seen some bad horror movies. But at least those bad horror movies have clear character development and storyline pay offs and justifiable rules.
This badly written of a screen play would NEVER have made it in mainstream Hollywood had the characters been straight. The only reason why it got made is because we have laxer standards for gay movies.
I hated it. Vehemently.

I gotta say, I wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. Going in to, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I knew since the writer of Juno was a part of it, I knew this was gonna be quirky. I'm a big fan of black comedies and this is definitely one of the more darker comedies I've seen. It had a few parts where it was on the verge of being an outrageous B movie horror with semi believable blood (blood was really red for some reason) and minor plot holes. Other then that, I thought it was really enjoyable and Megan Fox actually did a good job at delivering her lines. It was a funny albeit disturbing movie. And wtf was with the random girl make out scene. xD All in all, I enjoyed it right from the opener in jail and the opening credits where you see "Jennifer's Body" in Pretty in Pink text so it made me think this was going to be another teen movie. Nope! You're in for a treat.

The Blind Side
Good movie telling a good story. There's not much more I can say than that. Sandra Bullock was good in it and her accent didn't annoy me as much as I thought it would. It's just a really cool story and even better that it's true.

I only half watched these, but man, The Day After Tomorrow and Journey to the Center of the Earth (3D!!!!!11) had some awful science. I told my nephew not to believe any of the physics in Journey and if he had questions to ask me instead.
It was all I could do not to launch into the chemical definition of magnetism when he asked about the floating rocks.

Just saw Sherlock Holmes. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would be rolling in his grave and it will offend the purists, but it's jolly good fun, despite the fact that it characterizes Sherlock as a sort of 19th century James Bond.
I'm relieved that it maintains some witty dialogue and intrigue and not just mindless action sequences. I'm also a sucker for Irene Addler, so naturally I'm glad they gave her a prominant role.
It's not up to par with the Granada television series, but I had a good time.

Sherlock Holmes was entertaining. Robert Downey Jr. makes my heart go pitter-patter and I totally want to see Rachel McAdams naked.
If you like Robert Downey Jr. in a historical setting, check out Restoration. He plays a doctor in the 1600's at the court of Charles II. He plays a character who is at first self centered and dissolute and at the end selfless and compassionate, and I for one totally bought it.

Sherlock Holmes, and it was very entertaining. Not exceptional, but I also had really high expectations for it. Still, great. And HolmesxWatson is the most entertaining duo since HousexWilson.

I just saw Aliens for the first time. I enjoyed identifying all the pop culture tropes and catchphrases it spawned, from the "They're in the vents!" scene to "Let's rock!" to "Game over, man! Game over!" I didn't even know Aliens originated "Nuke the whole thing from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

Predictable, awkward, visually stunning, tear jearking, and Michelle Rodiguez is a badass. Also, I think I heard Mariah Carey singing the song in the credits so that automatically brings it up four points.

Sherlock Holmes is great! I enjoyed it a lot, but I was turned off by the supernatural villain, so (SPOILER)I'm glad that he turned out to be a poser. Didn't see that coming!
I also just watched Ever After again. Drew Barrymore is a bad actress in this movie, but it makes me squee just the same. Prince Henry is so cheesy and beautiful. :kaoclove:

I've been all about the sherlock holmes the last few months; I've read the first three novels on my ipod, but for some reason, I couldn't get into this. I'm not sure what it was-- Watson was a badass, there was Victorian mystical rites (but no aleister crowley) and kinky :bou::bou::bou::bou:. I guess the premise of Watson leaving Holmes to his own devices felt empty (besides, I'm fond of the good doctor) and I did miss the first ten minutesxD I felt it was a pretty reasonable attempt to capture holmes's personality, though
I watched Sherlock Holmes too. I thought it was pretty fun movie. I liked the big guy, I don't know if we ever learned his name or not. And I loved Holems speech at near the end.
The Fellowship of the Ring extended cut. Pretty rad, I liked it more than the theatrical cut. Nice bits of story added here and there.
