Sherlock Holmes - Too much action, but solid. I lol'd at the subtle reference to Holmes being a coke-head

    7.5/10.

Predictable, awkward, visually stunning, tear jearking, and Michelle Rodiguez is a badass. Also, I think I heard Mariah Carey singing the song in the credits so that automatically brings it up four points.

    7/10

Sherlock Holmes is great! I enjoyed it a lot, but I was turned off by the supernatural villain, so (SPOILER)I'm glad that he turned out to be a poser. Didn't see that coming!

I also just watched Ever After again. Drew Barrymore is a bad actress in this movie, but it makes me squee just the same. Prince Henry is so cheesy and beautiful.

Beautifully filmed coming of age story. Loved it!

Argh, it's such a good movie but Drew Barrymore and the prince dude were so bad! I hate them!

sherlock holmes: 4 and a half fingernails out of 10 (pretty high score)

I've been all about the sherlock holmes the last few months; I've read the first three novels on my ipod, but for some reason, I couldn't get into this. I'm not sure what it was-- Watson was a badass, there was Victorian mystical rites (but no aleister crowley) and kinky . I guess the premise of Watson leaving Holmes to his own devices felt empty (besides, I'm fond of the good doctor) and I did miss the first ten minutesxD I felt it was a pretty reasonable attempt to capture holmes's personality, though

I watched Sherlock Holmes too. I thought it was pretty fun movie. I liked the big guy, I don't know if we ever learned his name or not. And I loved Holems speech at near the end.

The Fellowship of the Ring extended cut. Pretty rad, I liked it more than the theatrical cut. Nice bits of story added here and there.

So bad it's good. Hilarious and lots and lots of fun. Especial fun with accents and ethnicities!

I don't remember Watson being so big into gambling, but maybe that comes later.

I can understand the implicit desire to flesh out Holmes's character beyond the usual cipher of flawlessness, but I think it reflects poorly on modern culture that this latest film reduces him to an immature, unreliable, unshaven layabout who's only a genius in spite of himself—like you can't sell a hero right now unless he's kind of hapless and eccentric and has mussy hair. He doesn't even play the violin correctly. :huffy:

Like Allison said, at least they didn't write Watson to be a useless tagalong, though.

The (SPOILER)supernatural elements made me nervous all the while, but that just made it a greater relief when they (SPOILER)were dispelled and disproven at the end.

I would probably watch the implied sequel with (SPOILER)Moriarty.

Just saw Avatar in 3D, but not IMAX. Stunning film visually and fun, but man, are the characters predicable archetypes. I've heard a lot of comparisons to Dances with Wolves, and I see the resemblance, but I kept thinking of Dune a lot more when watching this.

    Just watched "Once".

It's a lovely little movie with some good music in it. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
