Should model-teachers be allowed to teach? The above links are just two instances in which hot, young, attractive female teachers who do modeling on the side have come under fire for their conduct outside the classroom. If they do a swimsuit photoshoot, and their school discovers it, they are usually fired, if not suspended, or at least reprimanded. If they modeled clothes, and were fully clothed, they probably would not have a problem with it, but if they do a swimsuit photoshoot, or worse, lingerie or even completely nude altogether, they could get fired from their teaching job.

The next two links, posted above, are about a man who has a double life as an 8th grade English teacher and a runway fashion model. Now, he's fully clothed, so there's no problem with that, and he uses the extra income he earns from modeling to buy books for his students, so that's a good thing.

But what about female model-teachers? If they model clothes, they're okay, but if they model swimsuits or lingerie, that's bad. To the parents, some of them might think that an attractive, hot young woman who has a penchant for showing off her body in photoshoots should not be teaching their children. Now, some of these young women posed for Playboy or other erotic magazines in college, but are not doing any photoshoots now, but their pasts apparently came back to haunt them when their photos were discovered by the school. Many of these teachers end up fired, if not suspended, or at least reprimanded. Or they still continue to do modeling, but they do swimsuits; they are not nude, but they are still scantily clad. They wear outfits that you would see on a beach in a photoshoot, and that gets them fired or suspended from their teaching jobs, if not at least reprimanded. Are these young women too hot to teach?

To me, if I had a child who had a hot, attractive young female teacher, I would only object if she appeared completely nude or topless, or if she simulated sex in a photoshoot. If she appeared just wearing a swimsuit, I would have a slight problem with that; I see that when I go to the beach or swimming pool, but it depends on the kinds of poses she took in the photoshoot; whether the poses were too erotic or not, and whether or not they suggested simulating sex. If the photoshoot looked like something out of Playboy magazine, I would have a problem, but if it's just normal poses, then I'm okay. What level of dissatisfaction would you have if your child had a hot, attractive female model for a teacher, depending on what they model, and how they model? Are model-teachers too hot to teach?

No definitely not, it's cruel beyond all reason to be attractive in front of teenagers.

What about young children under the age of 10?

Teachers should go through a vetting process to ensure that they don't have too many "Hot Points". Can't be having attractive people teaching our children. Who knows how that will skew their ideas of beauty in the real world!

Well I guess with that logic it is a crime to be attractive. Don't be proud of how attractive you are either and model cause seriously, show some humility and stop being attractive! Don't teach kids cause, goodness you are far too pretty!

All I know is I definitely remember more of my biology lessons which coincidentally had a A+ would drop my pencil again teacher.

I feel like this is contradictory of you considering you're largely against pretty much everything.

I think what a teacher does on their own time as long as it isn't illegal is their business. They can teach if they have the right qualifications and their looks don't have any effect on that. Do they model on the side? Okay. Porn on the side? Okay. That's really their business.

I think it varies by state too? Like a teacher in Oklahoma wont get paid the same as in Illinois or something.

People are ridiculous when it comes to teachers of minors. I know teachers who have told me that they have to be careful buying alcohol in town in case a child's parent sees them and complains. Your children's teachers are human beings, with bodies and social lives. Get the smurf over it.

That being said, the additional publicity probably helped their modeling career take off, at least.

I've heard about trout like that too.

Along with complaints like; They have a bumper sticker on their car for one political party and the parent is very much in support of the other party, the teacher has politely refused the parent's invitation to attend the parent's church on several occasions, the teacher has been seen in certain inappropriate social settings (my child's teacher goes to the club?!?), and on and on and on.

This whole thing is ridiculous. If I was an awkward teen, and I heard the school had just fired my science teacher who was also a hot model, boom, there goes another drop out.

The thing I find funniest about this is my sister and her husband are teachers, the drink wine like it's going out of style, have gone to bars immediately after school with other teachers, run into former students at the liquor store, etc. and literally no one gives a trout. But maybe things around here are a bit different.

Then again, no one really gave a trout when she was being sexually harassed by a student either so things aren't all peaches and cream here.

So I'm a teacher ,currently teaching 3-5 year olds. The sad thing is, we do feel very restricted. A lot of my friends have had to sign contracts to say they will not have a facebook or twitter account incase parents find them. Thankfully I work around 45 minutes away from home and therefore it's very unlikely I will bump into any parents or children, but my collegues certainly feel the fear of going out and having a few drinks and seeing parents.

For some unknown reason, people think teachers are robots. We can work all hours of the day, never get tired, have no feelings, have no life at all and act like a social worker,nurse,parent,babysitter and educator rolled into one. That on top of the general public's view of a teacher's 'easy life' is why the UK certainly are struggling to find new teachers with more and more dropping out of the profession.

Give teachers a break!

It's weird, but I actually think it's important for kids to have a few hot teachers in their lives. It's generally a pretty safe crush, and "usually" a good learning experience. So why not

I do generally think doing porn and then trying to have a normal life, is one of those conundrums like with girls wearing mini skirts and low cut tops and then walking around construction sites. Things are going to be said, or done. And it's not right. But it's hard to be surprised when it happens. I wouldn't condone the cat-calls. But I would expect them to happen. But at face value, I really don't care what a teacher does in their free time. As long as they meet their qualifications, and can teach kids what they need or should be taught, more power to them

We trout on teachers. We ruin the good ones and make them miserable. We take away their ability to be creative and cripple their attempts at discipline. We don't pay them half of what they're worth. And we overcompensate for screwing up and allowing pedophiles into schools by harassing attractive students and policing sexy teachers. The whole thing is so preposterous it makes me ill.

Granted my high school also had strict policies for guys as well. They couldn't have drooping, saggy pants or they were given suspenders to wear and they couldn't wear under shirts as regular shirts (like the sleeveless ones for example). A particular teacher in middle school harassed a girl by measuring her skirt in the hallway and then humiliated her asking her why she was wearing a skirt that short. It was ridiculous.

School uniforms prevent all that. Pip pip!

I know it's a bit of a stereotype, but statistically there is validity to it. If the culture in general drinks more, then perhaps they're more likely to not care about drinking habits of others?

It's probably more cultural. Plenty of people love to negatively judge you for the same things they do when they think no one is looking.

I don't think a teacher being a model would make a teacher more attractive to a student who didn't already find them attractive.

For instance, I fancied the pants off of my GCSE Geography teacher. I moved seats to be behind the girl who always needed help with her work, because he would stand next to her chair and bend over forward to look at her work. He had a nice bum.

Finding out he was a model wouldn't have made him more attractive to me, it would just mean that I might be able to find pictures of him shirtless online, rather than just using my imagination.

Different people have different things that they find attractive, so the only way to ensure that no students were being distracted by attractive teachers would be to have all lessons taught in absolute darkness. And even that wouldn't stop students being distracted by voices they found sexy (like my GCSE RS teacher, he had a voice like chocolate).

So, in short, villification (is that how you spell it, do you think?) of teachers who were models or have part-time jobs as models is ridiculous.

No, this one was an NQT (Newly Qualified Teacher), or something like that. Early twenties, very lively, drove a hot hatchback.

But actually on the topic, there was never any teacher I fancied. Like, there were a few that I thought looked pretty or attractive, but nothing to get me 'excited' about. It takes quite a lot to get me 'excited'. I do find it stupid though when model teachers are sacked. So they look nice and want to do a side job? What of it?

Far as I'm concerned, as long as they're not doing anything illegal, they should be able to do whatever.

I can understand the logic somewhat behind not allowing teachers to do certain kinds of modeling on the side (like underwear, nude, swimsuit, etc etc). Not saying I agree with it or anything, but the idea behind firing teachers for doing things like that is similar to stories I've heard of people getting fired in other jobs. It has nothing to do with the quality of education of students or anything; rather, I'd assume it has to do simply with the reputation of the school. People don't care that a teacher is attractive, but if parents have the possibility of finding pictures of scantily clad teachers, they'll likely throw a fit. School boards/principals/etc don't want to deal with the possibility of that kind of controversy, I'd imagine. I'd be interested in seeing comparisons of these kinds of issues in other countries though.

It kind of makes me think of something a saw where a high ranking guy was fired from his company because he posted a video of himself going through the drive through of a Chik-fil-a and harassing the lady at the window because he disagree with the company's stance on marriage. Doesn't really effect his performance on his job, and it's his own personal viewpoint, but it can create a negative image for his company.

I think in general what people do outside of work should be their own business as long as they are being productive at work and bringing no harm to the other employees/students/etc, whether you agree with what they are doing outside of work or not. I guess you could still see these things as harming the image of the school or company though, which I think makes it seem to be a little more in a gray area.

If current university trends are anything to go by, school pupils nationwide can look forward to a deluge of newly-graduated single Geography teachers in their early twenties who couldn't think of much else to do with their degrees. I can hear the pencils dropping from desks already.

I don't mind seeing short-shorts on girls as long as their mid-thigh length. If the shorts are so short that they only cover your hips, then I have a problem with that; it's too short, but if it's mid-thigh length, then I'm fine.

And I don't want to see saggy pants, either.

Agreed. School uniforms are the norm in the UK, and it stops a lot of the problems which arise from people wearing their own clothes, such as competing to have the coolest clothes.

Maybe someone should start a new thread about school uniforms? People have been talking about them quite a bit.

They do school uniforms for urban schools that have a lot of people who get their clothing stolen or because of gang violence (red color clothing etc.) They probably should've done it for our school because clothing was consantly stolen in the girls gym locker.

In college, they don't do school uniforms, so while I won't object to a school uniform if they do decide to use one, I don't think they need it. I do, however, think that there should be dress codes for students, as well as teachers.

For instance, do you think it's appropriate for teachers to wear jeans? I personally do, but not everyone does.

Its one of those things where they want everyone to look "professional". I would much rather my teachers wear jeans. But none of mine ever did. So it's extremely likely my school had that sort of dress code for the faculty >.>

My schools - primary, secondary and sixth form - had dress codes for the staff.

Also, my sixth form didn't have a uniform, but you had to dress in smart clothes (e.g. suits).

I'm all for dress codes. Men generally look a lot hotter in suits.

The only good thing about the news piece is that it is getting attention, and seemed to go at least slightly viral (well, it's here, isn't it?) and people are talking about it. The talking, based on this thread at least, seems to be a general agreement that it was absurd. So hopefully it's going viral because people think it's absurd, and more people will see the general consensus on the matter and start to realise that it really, really was absurd to fire someone over such things.

I have never before heard of a teacher getting fired for being attractive. I've never really had a huge attraction to any teacher, though. I've thought some were really pretty but not actually fancied them. Looooads of people at my high school fancied various teachers, I remember that much. Nobody cared. Or at least, nobody I knew cared enough to make it obvious to me that they cared.

If a teacher was doing porn on the side I can imagine it would cause debate but if it's just sexy snaps, psh. Teachers have the right to feel good about themselves just like anyone else.

EDIT: Regarding what they wear: Smart casual is fine for teachers as far as I'm concerned. Why should I find it harder to be educated because they are wearing jeans?

If students have to wear a uniform or conform to a dress code, then it seems only fair that teachers also follow a dress code.

Because it is at the schools discretion as to whether they ask their staff to conform to a dress code as well. I had to wear all black at my job in retail - did it make any sense to wear all black? Not really. Could I have done my job in jeans and t-shirt, absolutely. But it was a requirement set by the company, and if a school wants to set a code for their teachers that is absolutely okay in my opinion. It's not about you finding it harder to be educated or easier - it's about the presentation of the school and their staff, just like any other job.

In my secondary school and at my sixth form, I noticed that girls and non-straight guys (there were a few of us, although not many) were much more likely to admit crushes on teachers than the straight guys.

I'm not really sure why that was. Maybe the straight guys felt uncomfortable at admitting attraction to women who did not match the unrealistic expectations of beauty created by the media?

I don't think that's it, and it's a bit of a jump really.

I knew plenty of boys at school who crushed on the lady teachers, same with at 6th Form and then Uni. It's all anecdotal though, like, everyone is different, people aren't always gonna be attracted to the hot teacher - regardless of sexuality/gender.

My observation was just based on my own personal experiences.

When I was at school my friends and I wouldn't ever talk with each other about 'crushes', so that'd be why you never overheard them saying who they liked. Guys tend to stick to "so and so is really hot" or something to that effect.

I was thinking of "so and so is really hot" as part of the whole crushes thing.
Straight guys were always going on about women they thought were hot.
They just weren't talking about teachers.

Well that's weird because in my experience guys were always much more likely to talk out loud about who were the good looking girls at school. Maybe there just weren't any attractive female teachers?

Most of the female teachers were in their forties or older. Maybe that's why.

Or maybe it was something to do with being middle-class? Most of the students were.

It could well be that my school was an exception to the norm.

That's not a good question when we've already pretty much answered we don't care how they look or dress in this thread. Sleeves, jeans, sombreros, it's not a big issue.

We didn't talk about sleeveless shirts yet. I forgot to ask that question in one of my earlier posts, which is why I'm asking it now.

But they have talked about clothing and how they don't care about what is worn.

We didn't talk about socks either. DO YOU think they should have to wear socks?

I'm strictly no socks on my teachers. If I dare see anything covering up those ankles... :argh:

The funniest thing is on no-uniform days. Me and my friends used to have a little competition to see which teacher had the worst casual wear.

Yes, sleeveless shirts should be acceptable. Children aren't going to not learn math because their lady teacher is in a sleeveless god damn blouse.

Teachers should be allowed to do whatever they want in their spare time as long as it does not involve breaking the law or questionable activity with younger children. Porn is probably a no-go, too. Honestly, though, smurf off if you think people should be punished at their jobs for their level of attractiveness. This is equally as bad as saying, "Are ugly teachers too ugly to teach because kids won't pay attention to them?" If they're qualified for the job, they're qualified for the job.

I can say I'd much rather have my child being taught by a calm, caring, effective teacher who does porn in his/her spare time vs. a teacher who

can NOT be MOCKED.

Once again, teachers should be able to do whatever is legal in their spare time outside of school. That includes things like being an exotic dancer, or starring in adult films, or joining the Westboro Baptist Church and protesting incredibly inappropriate things in incredibly inappropriate ways while citing incredibly inaccurate views based on their incredibly poor interpretation of the Bible.

I might not like it, but if they maintain the required level of professionalism in the class room, there shouldn't be much I can do about it. Their life outside of work is their life. Very few jobs should fall out of that category.

So apparently this guy has been branded the 'world's sexist maths teacher'. The fluid dynamics of turbo machinery really turns him on, which sort of sounds like a really obscure innuendo. And his PhD research was on wet steam flow. Like seriously, the guy is a walking innuendo. What do you guys think?

I personal don't care what a teacher wears, as long as they don't show to much. Every school I went to was business casual dress. They wore jeans and a T-shirt all the time, no one cared, and we all still got an education. It wasn't a big deal.

I think you misunderstand the whole "rolled-up sleeves are sexy" thing.

There has to actually BE a sleeve.

A forearm on its own isn't interesting. The rolled-up sleeve is what makes it.

He's actually gone the opposite direction, covering the lower parts of the limbs and leaving the upper section exposed.

The reverse sleeve roll.

Idk Goro has had a paper bag face but also also a handlebar on the back of his head. There's something to be said for utility. And the four arms means he can cook me breakfast among other things.

She was a good teacher, so I can't complain. :P

For serious, my wife had this didactics teacher whose views on teaching were baffling to me.

She apparently lowered her students' grades if they so much as wore jeans when teaching a class, or if their hair was not tied in a bun or ponytail. Clearly loose hair is too much for hormonal teenagers to handle, and the jeans just makes them all turn into rebels.

Said teacher's also pretty much the worst person in existence and the worst kind of didactics teacher I can imagine, since she taught them really little about actual teaching. All the classes were about how you look in class and how awesome she is because she used to work for the Ministry of Education. I am so done with this.

Wow. I really hope this post wasn't serious...anyway, it's more important that boys and girls both learn how to control their sex drives and gain the skill of being able to focus no matter what distractions are put in the way. Girls should be allowed to dress how they want. If boys are unable to concentrate, that's on the boys. Most girls do it for attention anyway. Take away the attention and they will stop doing it.

I'm glad that being hot isn't actually a barrier to teaching.

I was teaching classes of university students once a week during my semester in Japan, and I would have hated to have been forbidden to teach based solely on my smoking hot good looks. :p

today was a really hot day and i was on the train and i rolled up my sleeves and this tracksuit guy next to me started salivating, it was really weird. he kept prodding his friend and like motioning with his head, it was really awkward but like i had already sat down and didn't want to move. then these ten year old kids got on the train and the creep got really scared-like and started eyeing them, so i took it as a chance to flee out on the next stop. what a weird experience!
