Rye thought that we Brits said "Kar-mel" and Americans said "Car-ah-mel".

    The silly sally.

OOC:Happy peanut swirls, over chocolate covered mountaintops and water falls of Caramel! Happy nugget in the meadow sings a song of satisfaction to the world...

    The world.

When singing the above song I pronounce it the first way, all other times the second.

There's an extra a in there for a reason, folks.

Let's keep the bitchiness to a minimum, please, ladies.

    And it's Ca-ruh-mel.

the correct pronunciation would be more like care-uh-mel. not car-uh-mel. first syllable rhymes with air, not bar. and yes, there's an extra a in there for a reason: because there are THREE syllables in the word. thus car-mel is wrong.

Yeah, care-a-mel is how I really pronounce it. Basically, it's a difference between 2 or 3 syllables. 3 is correct!

It depends how much of the stuff I've got in my mouth. Sometimes cah-rah-mel is just inefficient.

Taking extra effort to pronounce words is not the American way.

Good, bordering on great way to say it. Dunno, I've heard non-Brits say "kar-mel" but I've never said it that way myself.
Not my words Carol, the words of Top Gear magazine.

I've always pronounced it 'Care-ah-mell' myself.
