The Speech

Why the hell I'm not nominated for Most Hardcore Gamer, I'll never quite understand. It's like a giant bitchslap right in the face.

But the obvious fact that this whole award is a sham aside, the nominees for Most Hardcore Gamer are as follows.

Captain Maxx Power – Uh, he bought Painkiller recently. Possibly at Yahtzee's request. Also, he hates the hell out of the fact that old games (especially RPGs) make you memorize the effect of every single spell or item because they're too lame to just put a little info window in your inventory screen. That's pretty much all I know about Maxx Power regarding video games. NEXT NOMINEE PLEASE!

I'm My Own MILF – According to his pretty little girlfriend, “He'll mention video games and make video game jokes during intimates. That should just about tell you everything.” Gaming is his main hobby, which I suppose is an important prerequeset for Most Hardcore Gamer. Dunno how hardcore he can be if he's still not convinced that the Wiimote is more than just a silly little gimmick a year and a half later, though.

JKTrix – Alright, here's one I know a bit about. JKTrix actually wasn't a gamer at all until he was old enough to get a job. Since then, he's definitely been making up for lost time. Despite living in Bermuda where games are both rare and freaking expensive, he's amassed an incredibly impressive collection. A little bit of JKTrivia, if Trix sold just one quarter of his collection, he could use the money to completely end world hunger. It's true! One day someone will make an awesome music game based on Gurren Lagann and Dragon Ball Z and JKTrix will immediately collapse upon himself like a dying star.

Kawaii Ryûkishi – Master of the most arcane of video games. Can regurgitate any fact about any game anyone could ever know, including games he doesn't even like. Like anything Tetsuya Nomura has touched. He's much too mysterious to really write much else about.

Kentarou – He's a Wizrobe for Christ's sake! It doesn't get much more hardcore than that. He loves his Smash Bros which makes him great by default. Also likes Metal Gear Solid. Fantastic! NEXT

Necronopticous – Necro is something of a connoiseur of shmups and loves Earthbound. Perhaps the thing he loves the most in life is Team Ico. Games like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are prime examples of games as art and that seems to be a topic near and dear to his heart. He's also a big fan of indie games and appears to be very interested in what people can come up with when restricted by limited budgets and manpower.

Ouch! - Few people know that Ouch actually took his name from a sound effect in Toejam and Earl. It's the truth. Don't question me. He's also reached the point where if he couldn't make Halo jokes with his friends, they would have nothing left to talk about. Ever. That may be good or bad.

Well, there you have it. A lot of the things in this speech proably would have been more helpful during the voting phase, but hey, whatever. Here we go!
