Red Dead RedemptionJohn Marston. When the main character dies it's always sad. When the main character dies and you realize there's no other possible way this could have ended, and the fact that he realizes this too, makes it extra sad.
Crisis CoreZack Fair. You know it's coming, even up to the scene it happens. It's completely telegraphed, but that doesn't make it any less tragic. Especially since Zack is built up as a pretty damn likable character during the whole game. The way it's done is brilliant too. Best part of that game by far.
