My secret shame is now my not-so-secret shame: I've been watching InuYasha lately.
Let's talk about different animes and suggest different animes (and how we like them even though they're all pretty terrible).
The only Anime you really need to see is Cowboy Bebop because it is one of the most glorious pieces of any kind of cinema ever made.
Monster and Paranoia Agent also kick ass.
I've been watching anime quite often lately, but I've been going off recommendations because I don't trust my instincts when it comes to new stuff to watch. I mean, I tried something new, but it turned out to be really terrible. So I've been going off what I've been recommended.
They're not all pretty terrible!
Cowboy Bebop is obviously one of the greatest things ever. So is Evangelion. So is most Ghibli stuff, and most Satoshi Kon stuff.
And a shout out to Dragon Half, which is hilarious.
"Excuse me Miss, do you like pineapple?"
Dragon Half is amazing.
Anime has the same ratio of crap to good stuff as regular old television. No need to tar it all with the same brush as InuYasha.
Maison Ikkoku is miles better than InuYasha and Ranma 1/2 (the manga certainly is anyway, because it doesn't go on for about 50 volumes).

I'm currently going through One Piece.
FMA:B is the best anime series I've seen so far.
Secret shame? Pffft. I watch a crap load of anime. I enjoy it for the ridiculous violence, crazy storylines, heavy Japanese influences (duh), and the panty shots.
Recently completed Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann and A+++ would watch again. The tits and feels in that were epic.
Gurren Lagann is great. Really bittersweet ending though ;__;

Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040
Sailor Moon (w00t! I got my kiddo into Sailor Moon. She loves it)
Outlaw Star
Gundam Wing
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Magic Knight Rayearth
NANA (the anime & the movies)
I'm sure there's more that I dig, I just can't think of 'em..
Oh yeah. Chobits. I've only seen a few episodes, but yeah.
