Let's just hope that was a one-off decision that went the way of the hosts. A lot has been said about the big players and this is a stage on which they must perform. The same should be said for the referees. They're obviously gonna be nervous officiating a World Cup match but they need to show conviction and not get caught up in the atmosphere.

I thought Croatia acquitted themselves well and were worthy of a draw.

Also, I thought it was hilarious when the Goal Line Technology popped up for the first goal. "Hey! Look! We're here! And we work! We probably won't be needed for the whole tournament but we're gonna show every single goal after it's juuuussst gone over the line to justify our existence!"

• Dodgy refereeing decisions but that's what you get when you use referees from countries where they never have to referee huge games every week.
• Not really a penalty, but I think everyone is getting a bit caught up in the hysteria, I've seen those given in the Premier League dozens of times

• The disallowed goal for the foul on Julio Cesar was the worst decision imo. I just can't see how that was a foul, unless the ball left the playing area.

Mexico v Cameroon has been fun to watch so far, despite the frustration from Mexico being repeatedly screwed out of goals. The first disallowed goal call was pretty close (though I think still wrong in the end), but they got boned hard out of that second goal. Still, they're playing really well and dominating the flow of the game, so I hope to see them pull out a win in the end.
