Dancing Chocobo What is the longest shift you've ever worked?

I did a 16-hour shift once. The only thing that got me through it was reminding myself that I had the next day off. Then I got to the end of the day and they told me I had to come in the next day anyway.

Christmas Eve at The Cheesecake Shop. I think it was 6am to 8pm. So, 14 hours? And then I worked the Christmas morning afterwards, too! It was actually really fun. And considering how young I was and that I was living rent-free with my family, I was more than happy with the pay. That's not even touching on the considerable amount of free cake I got to take home. >=]

I work 8:00 - 21:00 every Saturday at the moment. 70 minutes of which is lunch and dinner. That's probably my most intense to date.

And it's followed every Sunday by an 8:00 - 18:30 shift.

I don't think I've done any longer than 10 hours.

Years ago when I used to work in a nightclub I would sometimes work from 6pm-4am, with only two 10 minute breaks. And I'd be on my feet the whole time. My feet used to hurt so bad on the days after work.

I now work a 9-5 job. The latest I've ever left the office is 7pm, when I've been extra busy.

I think 7:00 - 21:00. Yeah that was long. It was basically a whole day, waking up, working, sleeping. I think I still went out afterwards actually, and got up at 7:00 the next day.

13 or 14 hours. I did homework for 26 hours straight once, but that's not really a job, heh.

The most I've worked in one day was probably about 14 hours. That's not a straight "shift" though, as I would be at work for 12 hours or so, and then bring work home with me. 12+ hour days for 2-3 days during busy weeks are not uncommon for me, unfortunately.

    29 hours.

But I don't think that should count, because sometimes in the military you have to do that.

When not in a war zone though, I've worked 19 hours before. But my usual day (before I became an instructor) was 10-12 hours.

13 hours. 8 hours regular shift with 5 hours of overtime. You can't legally make someone work so long that they will get less than 11 hours of non-work between two shifts, so more than that is pretty rare. I've seen coworkers work 8 hours overtime on Fridays though, but I never sign up for that stuff. Can't really force people to work overtime in Norway either, and in most lines of work it is forbidden to not pay at least 50% more per hour, and give us a 30 minute paid break with free food if we work for 3 hours extra or more.

I just did a 12 hour shift a week or two ago. 8am to 8pm. Doesn't happen often, but I was the only person working in my area so I opened and closed.

I've had the option at one point or another to work 14+ hours as long as I didn't get "more than 40 hours in the week", but I've passed. I'm not living for work. I like free time.

Stepping outside at the end of the night, you wouldn't know I had ever seen the sky before. What a breath of fresh air. A novelty concept like "windows" gets lost on some places.

When I worked at a clientéle company of UEFA.

8am-10pm. This was voluntary mid, though I still got paid for it. My shift itself was only meant to be 8am-4pm.

Bear in mind this also meant I had to get up at 5am to get to work for 8am, and got home at around nearly 1am due to reduced trains running at that time of night. I had to be up at 8am again the next day for my next scheduled shift. Needless to say I came in dead tired the next day and went home sick about 3 hours later.

13 hours. It wasn't very enjoyable and I did not get extra money for doing so as I was on a fixed salary. At the time I was trying very hard to make a good impression.

Fourteen hours in a single shift. Additionally, I worked two jobs for two years for 12-16 hours a day, six days a week.

I think I may have done is 13. Back when I used to get mucho-ubertime, I'd do 4 extra hours in a day.

Nowadays, even if I got the option I don't think I could do it. Since the beginning of the year they don't want anyone staying late anyway. They'd rather we come in an extra day for 4-10 hrs.
