KDE has been way too unstable and crashy for me in the past. I love the look and customizability, but that's all moot when I can't open Konquerer without it randomly crashing, or do anything to the panel without it disappearing (and subsequently me having to kill the process, delete the config file and restart it).
Here's mine. I just changed the theme and desktop yesterday.
This is my desktop of Ishida from Bleach. I did have Renji beacuse he's cooler but I like this background more.
I have heard that from several people. I however, have never really had a problem that was not solved with minor tinkering. Then again, I use slackware. The most stable and sexy featured Distro I know of. I heard more problems with Kubuntu and mandrake than any other distro.
I'm not a power user. I don't need every option available to me from the outset. If I need something Gnome is more than configurable. I also use more Gnome-oriented software than I do KDE, so i figure I might as well not waste my time installing Gnome dependencies in KDE.
The best combination I have ever made(and the best wallpaper I have ever made)

I scanned in a picture of Gamma from a Zombie Powder manga I have. Pictures don't upload for me, so I had to link it.

Ubuntu 7.04 "Feisty Fawn". Gnome 2.18. Beryl 2.0.1 composite manager. Avant Window Navigator (the launcher at the bottom). Compiz Screenlets (the widget things on the side). Buuf icon theme. Carbonit GTK2 theme and GSM emerald theme.
AWN doesn't let you customize icons yet, so that's why I have the crappy Banshee and GIMP icons instead of the nice Buuf icons in the launcher. I think I have 25% transparencies on the cube so you can see the backsides of windows on other viewports.
Gosh I want Beryl. I've been having issues with it in Dapper. I'm going to be doing a fresh install of Feisty shortly though.
Mine usually looks like this when I boot up.

KDE is may be better than any version of Gnome, but Fluxbox is better.
Beryl is nice too, but it doesn't really work out with Fluxbox since they're both window managers. It would be nice to see *box functionality in Beryl someday.
[q=Hsu]I'm hoping that Feisty has the xorg updates that are supposed to really kick up performance for it. I haven't really read.[/q]
Do you mean modular XOrg-7.1? Can't you just install that from the repos? I thought it was in Edgy anyway.
Fluxbox is a nice WM, but I prefer E17.
Yeah, I like Enlightenment too, it's very similar to Fluxbox on the surface.
I didn't have any good reason to choose Flux over E17; I just like the configurability.![]()
