Believe me, even though Play magazine loved it, I felt the review was more satire than a glowing reception. This game has not been doing outstanding anywhere. Most see it as being mediocre. To be fair though, this is a fanservice game and seeing as we are all fans, its not surprising we all adore it.

But then, it is Square's first attempt at a fighting game since, what, Ehrgeiz? Even without the fanservice, it's a pretty good game with solid mechanics.

Wow so I havent been on this forum for like a year but i hunted down my password and such and here i am again anyway!

    I use Cecil and Golbez
My Cecil is 100 already Golbez is lagging behind at 44 but oh well.
This game is done pretty well imo and well i love it, Onion Knight bugs me but he is pretty much the only one who does, and Shantotto (the Taru) as a FFXI Player I am proud to see she is broken *Shakes his fist* FOR I KNOW WHAT SHE DOES IN FFXI! Anyway thats about all i have to say, its the only PSP game I have done the Ad Hoc Wireless on as well
I would of liked to see a online mode that doesnt require you to have a PS3 however but oh well I will make do.

Ok, just one thing to add: I hate randomness with a fiery burning passion.

Your friend card comes with a randomly-assigned color that determines which gems can be battlegenned from you in Online or Friend Card battles. I got Red. I hate red. Apparently, there is no way to change this, without completely starting over.

    Stupid, stupid, stupid Square...

I'll probably be resetting the data until I get one I like shortly, and then I'll probably never play again, because I won't want to go through all the stuff I've already done again.

A miniscule gem in the tiny corner that you'll barely pay attention to bothers you that much?

I can understand but I also have OCD when it comes to minuscule bull. Luckily my color works for my character so I don't mind.

    You're welcome

Your Cecil is pretty mean as well.

I'm really liking Gabranth, but I love high risk/high reward characters. I just need to start leveling people and abuse the Duel Coliseum.

Not a huge fan of the Ghost you give people being determined by your in-game tactics, if only because my tactics vary a lot if I'm playing a computer than if I'm playing a human. Flood-spam works fine for wiping out those pesky CPUs, but I don't want those tactics carried into my Ghost battles.

I was able to track down the source that said Cecil was an easy character to start with.

    Cecil -- “Style Maker”
His ability to switch between Paladin and Dark Knight allows him to excel at both Air and Ground style combat. He appeals to beginners because he's not limited to one style. Most of his attacks have auto-targeting, combined with his strength, beginners will most likely flock to Cecil.

Recommend: Starting Players who don't wish to limit themselves to one style of fighting.
What they said about Cecil as well as this
    Warrior of Light -- “All-Rounder”
A difficult character to start out as, as all of his attacks are linear. By linear, I mean when he's directly above or below his opponent. His greatest attribute seem to be his defensive nature. Forcing the player to know plan their attacks carefully or end up beaten by a faster player.

Recommend: Advance Players, with a good sense of timing.
got me thinking that Dissidia's fighting system is so complex that the "well rounded characters are good for starting out" rule didn't apply to this game.

I just felt like posting this since I wasn't able to cite my source last time.

    >>> I finally got the game in my hands, and I had to buy a dirty psp to play it so this must be the most expensive game i`ve got in years..

Anyways the game is just what I expected and more, the whole chaos/cosmos story was a bit lame but this is a fighting game so Im just being picky here. The fighting system is very original, im grateful they didnt make this another Tekken or Soul calibur..
Tidus story/path was the most interesting one (im not surprised really)..

Finally, this game is a great FF1 tribute..

Randomly ended up buying a PSP today after flipping a coin a few times (don't ask) and it turned out to be a Dissidia bundle which was pretty random but nice. My thoughts after my first session:

first of all i smurfING HATE THE WAY

    THEY ALL TALK LIKE THIS.

seriously why in gods name did they do it, did they record all the sentences in half parts because of sound file size restrictions and then piece them together very badly or something? Jesus it is annoying. Also I hate the voice acting, everyone apart from Tidus sounds exactly the god damn same only with a little difference in pitch, no variety whatsoever, dire.

Cecil's story was the first one I did, I didn't like Cecil all that much either. I mean I guess his moves get a little bit better when he levels up or something maybe but I didn't like his aerial attacks all that much and found his ground moves a bit too long to get going so easy to dodge. Maybe I am just bitter because Golbez was an absolute god damn prick who I never want to see again I don't know

Did Cloud's after that, generally lulzed at his emoness but find him a lot more fun to use than Cecil, is a bit slow but it doesn't matter 'cause he has a lot of moves that can close distance easily and have some nice attack power. I like his bravery attacks as well. After Golbez was pleasantly surprised to find Sephiroth eating and dying in about 10 seconds. Story mode itself is pretty entertaining although I really hate how much the game tries to punish you for actually wanting to play well or complete goals. I mean I am not a proper OCD gamer who has to do absolutely everything in a game but the +1 DP challenges on fights are pretty fun imho and it pisses me off that you can only attempt it once without having SP taken off you for retrying. such bulls

other than that was just fannying around in quick battle, favourite characters so far are Bartz and Tidus although I have no smurfing clue what the hell you are supposed to do to make blitz ace work, maybe my copy of the game is just duff but no matter what I press or when I press it the overdrive bar loves to time out every time, which is kind of failridden (edit: apparently it just likes to do that for me in quick battle, in story mode it worked like every time.) . Onion Knight is fun to use but his moves leave him wide open to get buttraped. don't like Firion, maybe he gets some better techs at higher levels but his whole crappy archery thing doesn't do anything for me. really want to unlock all the chaos people already playing as the evils was the main reason I wanted to get this game in the first place
