It depends on how long you have your nose pierced before you take it out as to whether it closes up or not. I think once it heals, it's pretty much not going to close up ever - I have had my nose pierced for 5 years, and hadn't worn a stud for nearly 2 years until recently. I put a stud in recently to see if it had closed up and it hasn't, so I'm still wearing one now! but, if you're not wearing a stud you can barely notice there is a hole there.. unless you look really closely, I suppose!
