Here's a thought; while there's a tiny possability that in the first episode the CMCs just held on to closest ponies and then forgot about each other until they met again, what I don't about them meeting each other for the "first time" in the later episode is that two of them are related to the main characters - since their sisters are friends wouldn't they have at least heard of each other before?

Also the fanbase has finally been given the Cracked treatment, I was dreading this because Cracked can be really obnoxious sometimes (usually with cartoons/movies I liked as kid), but it really wasn't that bad. :)

All in all there are several things i would do differently if I was to undertake this kind of project again.

First and foremost probably sucking it up and paying to have the eyes and cutie mark embroidered professionally, as opposed to my "good enough" cheap guy method of a cardstock stencil and 2 buck bottle of fabric paint.

Secondly, I still haven't figured out the best way to attach the wings. As of posting, neither of them are actually permanently attached, because I think it's going to involve busting some seams so i don't have to sew through as many fabric layers. I am loathe to do this, and have been attempting to circumvent it. I have three broken upholstery needle standing evidence to both my efforts to sew them on as is, and the inevitability of cracking said seams back open.

Lastly, the big ones head needs some definitive reinforcement, the neck is overstuffed like crazy, but it's still not enough support to keep it upright. It kind flops around on its own accord, which largely works because of my lazy sleeping-style eyes. It usually rolls forward onto her legs and makes her look like she's snoozing. All in all though, it has done it's duty of eliciting squee from my wife, so I declare the endeavor a success.

I never understand haters these days. I get that you can't all like the same thing, but you act like we're forcing you to like something, which we're not. I never get the whole "Oh but FiM is EVERYWHERE!" because the places people complain about it (YouTube, Deviantart) are places where you have to search for what you want. So don't search for ponies. It's that simple.

Also a forum having one thread dedicated to FiM is not FiM being "everywhere". That's alright, I'm not even sure I would have noticed if I wasn't told, but evidently a lot of people did the first time, and that lead to her becoming a character (she began as a mistake/oversight if anyone doesn't want to read the article). I may have mentioned this before, but back when I thought FiM was an internet thing (from seeing it on YouTube) I saw people commenting that they saw Derpy in some scenes, so I googled her, and went to the wikia. It was partly from reading that article more closer than the first time that I begain to realise that FiM was a real TV show.

I'd disagree. If you follow that the dragon fluttershy chewed out was going to nap for 100 years, then it shows dragons having an unnaturally long lifespan. I kind of took the last episode to show that dragons were supposed to grow slowly as they accumulated more possessions, over several centuries. Spike went nuts and tried to steal a town, and ended up looking far more deformed than the other dragons we've seen so far, I took that to mean he was not aging naturally at all, but it an accelerated pace unusual for his species. I think the other two dragons support that too. They were definitely greedy jerks, but they weren't actively destroying towns, and they seemed to only take gold and jewels, which spike has naturally lusted after since the first few episodes. They seemed to have a much better handle on their greed.

Okay, I've seen a couple of "Which Pony Are You?" tests, and some have been pretty badly done (I went on one and it asked "which of these is best" and then listed all the main ponies' elements - too obvious!) This test was pretty balanced in places, and not too obvious as to what you'd be getting, barring a couple of choices, but I answered as honestly as I could, and this is what I got;

A real hard worker you are, yup. If there's one thing you hate, it's being inactive or coming across as lazy. You'll put in more effort than anyone else, even if it may be against your better judgement or even if delagating your work is a smarter option. Apropos of nothing, I can't believe it took me this long to realize that the main characters are an equal list of each type of pony (not including "alicorns" or whatever they're called, but from what I gather that type's only avaliable to God-like ponies, or something). I've seen some pony forums that have been around for years and are mostly focused on toy collecting and some of the people there don't like FiM (mostly because they don't like the toy design). Most of them do not refer to themselves as bronies, because they see themselves as having been around "before" bronies.

If I was one of them, I'd insist that we were "true bronies," and that all the young whippersnappers mesmerized by the bright colors and flashy animation of the new generation are "neo-bronies."
It would be lulzy. The "neo-bronies" would be mad, and I doubt they'd be able to make a serious counter-argument that couldn't be shot down by, "We were collecting ponies before it was even cool." (This is assuming, of course, that the old generation collectors decided for some reason to go out of their way to try actively trolling bronies.)

Does anybody besides me find that all the moments people point out to be "Fourth Wall Breaks" really aren't fourth wall breaks at all? To break the fourth wall you need to directly mention the viewers, or something that affirms that you're part of a TV show right? Everyone keeps saying that whenever the My Little Ponytheme (the one used in all generations) is sung or played, or whenever a character directly uses the phrase "my little ponies", as fourth wall breaks. I don't think that's what they are - they're something, but they're not fourth wall breaks.

Aside from the "trollface" being overused in some episodes, it's kind of fun to watch - I'd recomend it. :)

EDIT: And it seems that finally in the UK, Boomerang is airing the rest of season one... only they're calling it season two. Oh, man...

My love of the Apple family is bursting at the seams with the rampant Apple centric goodness of the next several episode synopses.

An Apple family episode, sounds cool and all, but I wouldn't mind seeing an Applejack episode this season (although it looks like in one episode she will at least be the main focus). Is it me, or is the last time AJ was the main character was "Applebuck Season"? Yes, there's also "Look Before You Sleep and "Fall Weather Friends", but in both of those she's just a main character, because in both those episodes, the staring role is shared.

Which is another thing I like about this show - each character gets to be the main character at times (they bill Twilight as the main main character but you get what I mean); sometimes it's just one character who is the main character for the episode, sometimes (like the two episodes I just mentioned) at least two characters share the leading part, and sometimes of course there is no main character, and it's just about all of them. Arguably, you could say even minor characters have their own episodes (Luna was the main character in a season 2 episode for example). I dunno, it's just kind of cool how they share it out.

I saw the Baby Cakes episode, and enjoyed it, as you'd guess it was pretty "aww" in places, and funny in others. For some reason, I thought the scene towards the end where The twins dropped flour on themselves as an appology (watch the episode to get the point of this). to be really "aww", but I dunno why it was.

I was suprised at how negative everyone on the Friendship is Magic Wikia was being about this episode before it even aired though; everybody thought it would a carbon copy of Stare Master, which (as I told them before I even saw the episode myself) it wasn't. Why did they think it would be anyway? I mean, yes, both episodes were about babysitting (or whatever it's called when they're kids, not babies), but Pinkie and Fluttershy are completly different characters, and would approach the situation differently (which they did.) I was also suprised at how so many people on the wikia (and on YouTube) were confused at how the babies were different types of ponies to their parents, and how they were able to suddenly fly and use magic at such a young age, when ponies older than them have yet to do so - and both of these things where explained in the episode! :roll2

A filly is a young female horse or pony.

A colt is a young male horse or pony.

A foal is a young horse or pony of any gender.

I should note that "foal" is used more for really young, baby equines, though, as opposed to "filly" and "colt" which can refer to "teenage" ones as well.

...and in case anyone was interested, a mare is an adult female horse/pony and a stallion is an adult male horse/pony. And a gelding is a horse who has been castrated and is without his boyparts :(

Hypo, is there a reason some of them are called "Avast (Pony's name)'s ass?" I don't get it and it makes me feel weird about liking the songs.


To NorthernChaosGod: You really think so? I thought it made sense, considering it's basically just how our genetics work. Sometimes we get throw-backs from old genes that are from other reletives, it's rare but it happens.
Genetics are much more complex than either the show or that chart can explain. I'm not mad, I don't expect them to get it exactly right. I actually thought it was a funny moment and don't mind it being dumb. :p

I saw all the MLP popping up and I decided I'll see what all the fuss is about and before I had realized I had watched 22 episodes :eek:.

It was also amusing when I put an episode while my boyfriend was with me and he looked and listened to the intro laughed said "Omg the intro this is so cheesy why do you watch this?" then I saw before my very eyes him become entranced and he now asks me when the next one is out.

I never realized she did fosters home for imaginary friends I loved that show I can always remember the 'cheese' episode I think even my mum watched it :p.

Alright, Granny Smith is awesome.

We won't have one this season, but apparently Lauren Faust thought we also needed a Big Mac episode...

Big Mac is a stallion of little words. He just keeps his opinions to himself. I think he knows he's around three opinionated mares and it's easiest to just go with the flow.

We had a Big Mac centered episode idea where he was helping all three of them one day, just going along with what they wanted to keep the peace (the running gag being that his three family members were quite verbose and he spoke only with facial expressions) but finally got fed up and took off. The Apple ladies worried that they had taken his easy going nature for granted and made a big production out of apologizing and promising not to take him for granted ever again, only to find out that he went into town to get another hand- er, hoof- to help. Of course the only words he'd say were to graciously accept their apologies and promises anyway.

So I've been listening to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBwiv_Bt3-c) remix/cover of The Gala song a bit in the past couple of days, when I decided to go check out the original to see how they differed.

Two things:

1. Rainbow Dash's part is easily the best part of the song in each version.
2. I feel super derp for just now realizing the music in the original changes a bit to kind of match the personalities of the pony singing. Derp.
