Thread: Halo Reach: Where's me washboard? Have you seen it?

I'd say the endless replayability of Terrorist Hunts with a friend make Vegas 2 the better buy than ODST; if you're not an avid online gamer that is. Vegas has some fun online modes but Halo obviously trumps it in that field. On the other hand, I always had more fun playing Terrorist Hunts on High Density, Realistic difficulty with a friend than I ever had on any Halo offline campaign, all of which I have personally found to be run-of-the-mill.

IMHO, ITTRP you're simply wrong about terrorist hunt being better than firefight. I play competitive FPS games a lot but mostly I play social games because I just like teaming up with my friends and shooting stuff.

Theres several games BoB ought to consider for co-op experiences and one is not one you'd expect.

Straight off the batt, Gears of War for 3rd person it's amazingly great gameplay, the third installment is on the way, the second and first both rocked and if BoB decided to play online Horde is one of the finest built survival modes in any shooter game.

Secondly comes Halo, Halo was an obvious option for co-op the game is built around it. ODST's firefight is amazing and I can't stress this enough that when it comes to co-op anything that can keep 4 people interested for 4 - 6 hours is a good thing. However, Horde is superior to Firefight because in Horde if you get to level 30 and need a break or someone loses their connection to the game you can restart from level 30 on Firefight it's back to the start.

Third game is the oddball choice. Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2. The main campaign is single player however you have the special ops which can be 2 player via either split screen or xbl/psn. These missions are similar in structure to the Terrorist hunt missions of Rainbow 6 but come with the highly polished engine of CoD MW2 to support them, they're fast paced or slow crawls depending on how you choose to do them. I prefer these over terrorist hunt especially when you throw it on Veteran difficulty.

Then comes Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, sure the main story is co-op which is props over MW2 and it has snap to cover and pop out shooting but frankly Gears always felt more solid in this (aside from the 3rd person perspective) Terrorist hunt is the weakest of the extra modes imho because it simply isn't as polished as spec ops (some of which are actual levels from the game or from CoD 4 with the objectives changed).

I miss the beta already... What'd everyone think? As a fan of the first two Halo games I enjoyed it.

Remember that Paul is actually very good at Halo and the campaign probably took considerably less time for him than it would for 95% of people.

Just looked on Amazon and there's new copies of ODST from £12 and used from about £9. At that price you can't go wrong even without firefight. With firefight that's an insanely good deal because Steve is not wrong, it is an epic game mode.

    What the hell is ITTRP?

EDIT: When talking of suggestions, it should be noted I'm looking for local co-op, not online co-op. Not sure how many games of those you mentioned allow for splitscreen.

EDIT: Ah, GoW2 has splitscreen allowance, neat. Maybe I'll get that sometime. Not too bothered about the online multiplayer - the only people I know online that I played with regularly were Dan and Psy, and after a lot of initial awesomeness in Halo 3, in the end they must have had enough of my inadequate skills and spent most of their time killing me for giggles. I got bored of that after a while.

Oh, right. I just call him Red Pill, or Keith. Never seen him called ITTRP before. xD Or if I did, I probably thought something like "What the hell is ITTRP?"

Well, all of them do. As stated, MW2 only has split screen co-op on the spec ops but is well worth playing. If you're intending to get Gears 2 get Gears 1 first it also does 2 player local co-op and is equally as awesome, second hand in HMV you could find both games for under £20 together.

As for Halo well, I know only too well what happened with you getting betrayed, to be fair it's something we do all the time to each other (we have a policy, if you are betrayed betray them back if you can. If you are betrayed by someone outside the party all internal disputes are forgotten and forgiven and the outsider gets owned by everyone) It's something we've done to Kari more times than enough and to NCG too (caging = the best !) But firefight is very different because it's co-op status and survival mode style of gameplay theres a limited pool of lives to share out between the group therefore dying is bad enough but betraying someone intentionally is pretty much out of the question because at the end of it the 8th set on easy, it's so difficult to kill enemies, especially after respawning so you need every life saved up for this point in time.

When referring to Halo, I just meant in deathmatches and stuff. Psy/Jess/Danielle/myself went through the main campaign without issue. But as for Dan and Psy, don't worry, I played with them many a time before that so I know how they work... but that doesn't make it less boring for someone like me who lacks the skill to betray back. I kept playing with Danielle/Jess for a little while afterwards but we all moved on to other games and whatnot. Halo 3 was fun, but I'm probably not going to pay for Xbox Live again anytime too soon unless a new and absolutely awesome game comes out that features really good multiplayer action. It's rare I do online gaming, in all honesty.
