Pokemon X is receiving most of my attention at the moment. I also recently played through Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies, which I thought was excellent. I'm also playing a bit of Gears of War 3 (because Judgment is a pile of rubbish) and FIFA 12 (to get the achievements before EA closes the servers).

So, finished the campaign of fire emblem awakening after like 50 hours of pure awesomeness. This game is just astounding and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone with a 3DS. This game fixed so many problems I had with the GBA fire emblems (though not all) and improved upon everything that makes fire emblem great.

In the end...

pros:
-Amazing new mechanics that allow for some really fun and unique strategies
-Fansmurfingtastic music as usual.
-Really fun writing that doesnt take itself too seriously, but also knows how to amp up the intensity if needed.
-This game has a great sense of humor that plays on all of the old fire emblem tropes. I found myself laughing quite frequently during this game which doesnt happen for me very often.
-The difficulty allows for a lot of customization and its very fair while still extremely punishing. It's hard to get the luck based strategy game right, but this game did it very very well.
-It's such an absurdly vast game. The amount of characters to get, the marriage system, the child units, the pair up system, reclassing units and skill building... the amount of thought one can put into character building is enough to make ones head spin. I know I spent many hours just overwhelmed by the amount of info. Some may see this as a con, but I found it absolutely fascinating. You can get so insanely creative its amazing.
-And an absurd amount of post-game content that will likely keep me busy for months to come.

Cons:
-It takes up a lot of time, which is a huge issue for a ton of people if you arent on break.
-The story can be extremely predictable
-Some of the writing near the end got a bit too melodramatic for my taste, but thats every fire emblem game sooo
-The 3d gives me a headache, but thats how I am with every 3ds game
-Harder difficulties like Lunatic and Lunatic+ require spending a lot of time grinding experience and the early chapters are absolutely ridiculous in their stupidity.
-The total price of DLC adds up quick, and some may argue its pretty overpriced.

But yeah, this game is stellar. I fully embrace the flaws and the strengths of this game. It's a fantastic experience if you're willing to put in the time. If you have a 3ds, pick it up. You won't regret the purchase. This is definitely my game of the year.

I got VVVVVV for .50 off Steam and it is awesome. I've died 1527 times! I don't know what these Shiny Trinkets are, but I want them. After "Doing Things The Hard Way" and "Prize For the Reckless" I think I can handle anything the game throws at me now. Maybe.

I started Assassin's Creed IV last night. I'm not very far yet and only put a couple of hours into it but I'm enjoying it a lot so far. I loooove the "real world" premise, the setting of which is giving me Deus Ex: Human Revolution vibes, and sailing the boat is a blast.

Also: super hot main character.

Playing so much lately!

Morrowind: I was rocketing through the main quest until a couple of weeks ago at which point I slowed down because this has become my "streaming game" and I don't get to stream that often for various reasons. Still, people do show up and watch me mess around in an open world WRPG, so that's pretty great. One of my addons has apparently added a ton of bonus content to the MQ so that's kind of fun because it freshens it up a bit.

Bravely Default Demo: Love it. I've put more time into it than some of the complete games I've payed full price for, ahaha. I'm pretty sure most people here know of this game but if you don't it's basically an oldschool Final Fantasy without the Final Fantasy game. You get to mess around with job classes and beat things up. It's fun.

Pokemon X: Still playing it; my current projects are Operation Breed The Perfect Goomy and Operation Complete the Pokedex. The latter would go a lot quicker if I was just going purely through trades but I'm carefully handraising most of the Pokies I get which is actually pretty great because it means now I've got an absurd amount of high level Pokemon. Good word I love this game. I'm not sure how I can go back to the older gens now.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: :save: DO WHAT YOU WANT CAUSE A PIRATE IS FREE, YOU ARE A PIRATE :save: - it's the same shtick as other AssCreed games but extra fun because you get boats and oh yeah, you're a pirate. Having a lot of fun with this one so far! We'll see if it holds my interest though - games in this series always tend to lose my attention partway through.

Replaying FFV (and exploriing the job system a little more thoroughly than I have before) after an abortive stab at The After Years (see my rant in the appropriate forum for an idea of how that went). Considering giving Dimensions a shot next, or applying some mods to some of my favourite Western RPGs - Baldur's Gate or Temple of Elemental Evil - and giving them another shot.

Just started playing "Guacamelee" the other day - it's a great deal of fun. It's a sort of beat-em-up platformer which involves pulling off combos on skeletons and combing your way through temples by using a clever mechanic that lets you switch between the worlds of the living and dead. I didn't stop playing for a good few hours when I first picked it up. The stylish visuals and music are another plus.

I'm also still playing a lot of Assassin's Creed IV which I'm pretty sure is my favorite AssCreed game. You wouldn't think that a pirate game would be this comfy, but there you go. Nothin' but the open sea and sailors singing shanties. :)

Finally catching up with the remaining Walking Dead Season One episodes. Holy trout, did I seriously just hack a guy's leg off? That is some super graphic trout.

I just started up Saints Row 2 yesterday, and I've been intermittently juggling Minecraft and FFIX. I played FFIX for a little today and became furious when I needlessly died and hadn't saved in some time because I am an arrogant asshole and it did not serve me well, so I shut off the game to play something else. Later tonight I'll probably begin Batman: Arkham Asylum fiiiiiinally. This is about all I can juggle right now, I think. I really only picked up Walking Dead because I'm waiting for Batman to finish downloading, and now I think that maybe it wasn't such a good idea. Oh well!

I've abandoned Fallout for a little while. Too much new ground to cover right now.

And I just got Borderlands 2, Sleeping Dogs, Bioshock 2, and I really really want to go through the GTA games and work my way up to V ;-; Too much trout to catch up on! I can feel my life ending one minute at a time in the most wasteful manner possible, but I give no smurfs.

edit: I'm a liar, I'm playing fallout 3 right now

Aye, found that out the other day, luckily before I played either. :)

Assassin's Creed II done. I even bothered to Platinum it, and I must say it was probably the easiest Platinum I ever got. The story was great and I liked that I could upgrade Montewhatever's shops and whatnot. I felt the fights in AC were a bit better than the ones in ACII for some reason I'm not sure of, maybe I just never got the hang of it.

If Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood hasn't changed the battle system, though, then I've definitely got the hang of it now, because I love this game more than the previous two by some distance because of one reason alone: Recruiting other assassin's. Oh man, I love sitting around the coops and sending them on missions and leveling them up and whatnot. Most of mine are up to level 8 now, although I still need to get a couple more towers down so I can unlock my last two recruits. I'm not sure I can be arsed getting 100% synchronisation, though. Some of the requirements are just not worth my time... maybe when I'm done. I dunno.

I got tired of trying to beat something "the right way" at some point and just sat on a bench and highlighted who I wanted dead and called out my crew, and they stormed the place while I chilled out. It was great. I like to assume that this is what it looks like when I'm making my kills, when seen from a civilian perspective. Guy's walking along, minding his own business, BAM, assassin jumps from alley and murders him. Patrol dude on a horse? BAM. Assassin runs up, pulls him off, kills him, mounts the horse, horse rears back and whinnies for dramatic effect and then my assassin rides it off into the distance. Awesome.

Pretty much.

I should warn, the Assassin promotions are fun missions, but do lock things down a bit. Once you promote to full Assassin, they become more powerful and can't die permanently, but you can't change their armor color anymore, as they don the Assassin white. Their cape, however, is based on the color scheme it was before they were promoted, so set that up in advance if you care at all.

If you like that aspect, you'll like Revelations even more. You get more Assassins, and they work great. There's even a mission where you get to take the ENTIRE Brotherhood in at once (no more than that, spoilers).

Pity that seemed to vanish in ACIII, or took way too long to unlock.

Still playing FE:Awakening.

Basically finished with hard/casual. Just need the limit breaker ability and then I'll take on Apotheosis.

In the meantime... started a lunatic/casual run. Got to chapter 5 and realized that I didnt want to play it in casual and I didnt like the avatar I made.
Instantly restarted on classic with a different character. Let's just say I have the first few pure insanity chapters down perfectly now.

Had absolutely no issues up til chapter 3 which had me beating my head against a wall for awhile. Strangely this chapter gave me no trouble on my first lunatic run. Maybe because it was 4am when I was having trouble... Now I just finished paralogue 1 and am about to start chapter 5. Things are going smoothly now, and my +Def -Luk avatar is the most overpowered unit I have. I learned that using avatar for the first few chapters is far more effective than using freddy, though he is definitely essential for multiple strategies.

I've got my families figured out because I did all of the brain-hurting character optimization stuff in hard mode. Making some slight alterations, but for the most part it will be the same as my old nearly complete file.

And Lunatic+ man... a difficulty less based on strategy and more based on how many luna+ enemies are on the field. I'm strangely looking forward to that...

I finished Dead Money in Fallout: New Vegas over the weekend. It was a great little piece of DLC, very cleverly designed. It was difficult but not unforgiving (unlike Honest Hearts, which was just kind of boring and didn't really seem to have a point or impact). I want to play Lonesome Road now, and then I'll have gone through the whole series of DLC, and can put the game to rest for now. It's really grown into one of my favorites.

I also got a Moga for my phone and have been playing through Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. It's pretty fun, quirky, charming, all that. It's nice to revisit the top-down games, especially ones I haven't already played and beaten 10+ times.

In terms of what it gets you and how you finish up, I actually find +Luck, -Def to be the best final result, and it's what I'm using for Lunatic. It did make things harder, but customization is more important than making things easy. Now I just have to see if that combo is even capable of taking on Lunatic+.

Dead Money is the only DLC I've played, but I enjoyed it greatly. I found it difficult in the aspect of constantly gettin lost in the villas, and suffering from a case of motion sickness all the while. The explosive collar business and the catch in having to stay away from radios and electrical equipment was fantastic, the ghost people are so creepy and wonderful, and Dog/God was great. I get the feeling that this DLC isn't too much a favorite from fans, but the mysterious story behind the Sierra Madre and the overall setting and promise of fortunes to make your dreams come true made it a wonderful DLC for me.

It could work, but it will sure as hell make the earlygame troublesome. No need to worry about crits as much, but those enemies are going to hurt even more. It does give the most balanaced offensive mods with +2str and mag at least. But really, in Luna+ any flaw/asset combo is still suicide so regardless of what you pick you can still expect to reset about 50 times per chapter.

And I chose +def because its always been my favorite flaw anyway, it just so happens that it breaks normal and hard difficulties (lunatic less so because more competent magic users scare MU, but this applies to everyone that doesnt have a res magic or hp asset). I kind of am just attached to it as my MUs asset now and dont see myself changing it anytime soon.

Okay, this is getting off topic. I'm just going to make an FE:A thread.

I want to play Lonesome Road now, and then I'll have gone through the whole series of DLC, and can put the game to rest for now. It's really grown into one of my favorites.

Yeah, that's my feeling too. I got a big Bioshock vibe from it; a lot of misguided ambition that just ended in ruin. I though I had heard people didn't like it, but I don't really know why, other than it being difficult.

Been marathoning the Final Fantasy main series, but I'm taking a breather and playing Castlevania 3 and DBZ: Buuyuu Retsuden.

It's interesting to note that the "Multiple Hits" system used in the first three games in the series was curtailed in 4, and all but abandoned in FF5 onward. I guess it stopped testing well? Or perhaps it's simply a side effect of introducting the ATB. Anyhoo, I'm right up to the basement of Baron Castle, about to fight Beigan.

I finished Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. I started Assassin's Creed III, too, and have got some way in. So far, of the five AC games I've played, Brotherhood is my favourite. I feel it had the right balance between everything. Revelations tried to expand a little too far in some things and sacrificed other things that I felt were still important. It still had great stuff to it, but I just didn't feel anything was balanced just right. It was trying to be too much of everything and ended up achieving little.

I worry that ACIII is heading in that direction, too. There is so much to do that it distracts a lot from the storyline. I find myself more interested in growing my homestead and hunting animals than I am in progressing the storyline. I feel they have mixed two games into a single game with this, and I don't think it works. I love large, open worlds, but only if I have a story-driven purpose for that large, open world. Instead I have a world that feels far, far too large for the game's story (maybe that will change, I don't know, but if it does it's poorly paced and if it doesn't it's poorly designed), and a lot more fun doing the exploring and village-growing than I do taking part in a history lesson. And in this game, unlike the previous games, it really does feel like much more of a history lesson.

Benjamin Franklin and his Almanac? Boston Tea Party? Really? I admit that I liked that I loved the end of the Boston Tea Party where I drop the last crate while giving Mr. Bad Guy a cold stare, but overall I miss the charm and passion of the Italian characters rather than the focus on the history of America. I still enjoy ACIII despite these things, though, and I in particular like those things I have mentioned (hunting/homestead) along with the tree-branch travel which is great fun at times. I'm not hugely fond of the combat system, which I do feel Brotherhood and Revelations were better at, but I like the new weapons.

I also got bored last night and really was looking for a way to kind of... tick through time gaming while listening to my own music. Over the past month mental fatigue has left me not wanting to play FFXIV (although I still look forward to getting back into it, I just want it to be when I'm ready), so after a little wishing I still had my old 386 and all it's games (I don't want to have to pay for them again!), I opted to open up Football Manager 2012 again. Played a game with Eyeson F.C., lost, got annoyed at how the naming convention I used made it so hard to tell who was what in the game... and then got an idea. Opened up my old FC United game (which is about ten seasons in, I'd just finally got a PL title in that game), saved under a new file name and... promptly resigned, removed almost ever league and went on holiday for a season. I thought to myself "You know, it'll be interesting to see what it's like to go for a really low league club as a PL title winnig manager." Let's see how long I last with this venture...

The Bravely Default Demo...

This game lets you turn off experience/job points/money gain and even lets you toggle the frequency of random encounters (or remove them entirely).

The initial difficulty of the demo is ridiculous, but once you get some levels and equipment and figure out the brave/default mechanics it becomes a lot more manageable and quite enjoyable.

Since I've been away and all I've had is my laptop, I've finally got a few PC games. The only PC games I've ever played were Deus Ex and the original Shogun: Total War (yeah it was that long ago).

A friend gave me Age of Empires 3 which is pretty good, and Civ V which I'm also enjoying. I also have Empire: Total War, but I don't think any Total War game can compare to the overwhelming nostalgia I have for Shogun.

If you are looking for something a la Civ then Endless Space is pretty polished. As is Galactic Civilizations II. Both are similar to Civ, but in space! Fallen Enchantress is supposed to be very good although I haven't played it yet.

Alternatively, there's XCOM Enemy Unknown, which is more of a turn based tactics than a turn based strategy, but it's very good.

Super Mario 3D World :D.

This game is so good. It makes me think back to the days of Mario 3 and Mario World with the excellent level design and the amount of creativity seen in the game. The soundtrack is pretty excellent too as opposed to the New Super Mario Bros games in which the music gets stale pretty quickly. I'm also working on playing through the Special stages in the original Mario World which is fun.

I'm also playing Sonic Lost World. I liked it when I first started playing it, but it pales in comparison to the Mario game. It's still fun for a modern Sonic game though.

OT: Cave Story for the 3ds. I have it on steam, but by god does this game work perfectly on the DS. It's perfect for short bursts of gameplay and walking around, and im already nearing the "final" boss fights on normal mode prior to hell after like 5 hours of gameplay.

I also started a hard mode run... oh boy. This is interesting.
I'm enjoying it a HELL of a lot more than my lunatic+ run of FE: Awakening though. This is purely execution based, no luck involved at all, and since the controls in cave story are super tight it makes for a very exciting time. Now, I am just in grasslands though... so we'll see how I feel once this game actually gets difficult in the next level.

I'm officially done with New Vegas. Lonesome Road was good. It's weird how little I seem to care about the various themes that show up in the game until I actually reflect on them. When I got to the end with Ulysses, I thought, "cool, alright, well that was a lame ending for all the exposition." But it really wasn't, in reality the whole thing was a great exploration of the themes of Fallout, the story of the Courier, and the nature of people and society.

That said, Fallout goes back on to my virtual shelf again. I feel like I've gotten as full an experience as I wanted from it until I decide to randomly explore the Mojave once more. What a great game, though - a serious slow burn that has been stuck in my head for over a year now, despite its surface similarities to FO3 (which I loved but had some serious burnout from it).

Next on the docket is Mass Effect 3. I bought it in November(ish) and have yet to play it proper. I'm disappointed there's no controller support in the PC version - wtg, EA. I also hate hate hate Origin. But I loved ME2 and am seriously excited to get back into the universe of it.

Oh, there's also FF Tactics in there, sometimes. It's as difficult as I remember it and I'm trying to get into a flow, but I'm still stuck on like the fourth battle.

I downloaded Kid Icarus: Uprising. Palutina is awesome. I've just finished Chapter 3, but I'm pretty sure I have to watch out for her more than Medusa. Using pheromones to attract the boss was a good idea, but a heads up woulda been nice. Get it? Heads up! Cause the boss was a dragon's head! And it feel from the sky! Man, I'm hilarious, ya'll don't know.

The controls are hard to get used to though. When TwoBestFriends said Liam hurt his wrist playing this, I was like how? But halfway through Chapter 1 I was like oh. And does giving Palutina hearts do anything? It says it doesn't, but most of the time when a game tells you to not bother, you should bother. Except for that chest in Chapter 2, that was totally a trap.

It fixes two things I didn't like the first time around: you can pick what skills to inherit, saving a lot of time and, more importantly, you can rearrange your skills. I finished Gravity Rush for PS Vita and it was great - totally unique and charming. My only complaint is they didn't use the gravity shifting for platforming enough, most of the time it was just used to fly like a super hero. But it was a very classy game and they nailed the Studio Ghibli aesthetic. I like how a lot of these Vita games make full use of the system and all its inputs, its reminiscent of early DS titles although more subtle and perhaps a bit more successful.

Not sure how long I'll be playing Witch and the Hundred Knight.

The story is and characters are pretty damn funny if you're into that NISA style of humor, though the combat is pretty lacking. Pretty simple and basic Action RPG, and the class/whatever it was called switching and subjobs is pretty neat, though isn't really adding enough to a pretty basic system.

And so far the lack of ability to change weapon sets without chaning each individual piece is disheartening, since you'll need to do it any time you fight an enemy resistant to the types of weapons you are using. (You equip up to five at a time, so it can get tedius changing them out.)

I think one of my favourite parts about this game is the developers' obvious awareness that it is terrible. The selling points listed on Steam are hilarious.

You can be a goat
Get points for wrecking stuff - brag to your friends that you're the alpha goat
Steam Workshop support - make your own goats, levels, missions, game modes, and more!

Let's just open up this door and a mini-boss. Two turns in and he's poisoned, his arms are bound, and he's below 50% health. Us on the other hand, the only one who took damage was a Fortress/Dancer who is fully healed. Yup now I remember, my team is broken as fuck. The three in the back do all the work, while the two up front soak up damage. Poor Logre didn't stand a chance.

I was going to play Lunar, but I got distracted by Skyrim. I was doing the Dawnguard quests, but got to the part where I needed to collect two Elder Scrolls. One was easy enough, but the other is the one from the end of the main quest. And I was still on the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller, so I started doing the main quest line again. One thing lead to another and I ended up winning the Civil War for the Imperials. Anyway I actually started the main questline and now I'm on The Throat of the World, which if I remember from the time I actually finished the main quest, that's like one or two quests away from the Elder Scroll and after I get that, back to the Dawnguard Quests.

On the bright side, all this wondering around as let Serana see a lot of what she's missed.

I ended up winning the Civil War for the Imperials.

You made the right choice

Anyways I've been playing all sorts of stuff. Pokemon, FFX, TES I: Arena, Crusader Kings 2... kind of flitting about trying to decide what I really want to dig into next.

I always pick the Imperials. I picked the Stormcloaks once and felt like a huge asshole for taking over Whiterun, especially when Jarl Bargruuf is one of the nice ones. Same with Jarl Elisif. That and Solitude is my favorite place in the game.

I downloaded Muramasa Rebirth for my Vita cause it's Golden Week or something. I'm playing as Momohime on Chaos Difficulty and so far having a blast. The fighting is really fun and par for the course, the visuals are gorgeous and the soundtrack is awesome.

^ Yeah lots of good Vita sales right now. Wanna pick something up but I'm already going back and forth between like 4 games on the system lol.

One of which is FFI Origins. My party is Red Mage, Black Belt, Thief, and White Mage. Played the game so many times, this is a very different lineup from what I'm used to. Still playing Stealth Bastard and Pixeljunk Monsters. Also checked out Destiny of Spirits, a very unique card game that incorporates your system's location settings. It's a very innovative Vita game and is free in beta if anyone wants to check it out.

I've recently been playing a lot of NBA Jam on Fire Edition. It has the feel of the original while also being modern. The commentary is just as good as the original and the team roster is fantastic. I'm maining the democrats right now. Al Gore is op.

My new room-mates and I are all playing through various Pokemon games. I chose SoulSilver. Digging it so far. Silver was my introduction to the series so this has been a pretty nostalgic experience.

No kidding. I'm usually not one for remakes, but god damn. Square Enix could learn a lesson in how to correctly refine and polish a classic.
