It has much more relevance to the overall story than something that just takes place in desmonds head during a coma. Yes it leads to him knowing where to go next, but desmond is actually interesting in brotherhood. Most people I've talked to agree Constantinople is kind of lame. Again, I will give it the gather missions are awesome, but mostly the game just feels redundant. The whole thing could have been acomplished by one long cutscene.

Except Revelations finally gives you background on Desmond, actually expanding on what little the previous three games mention in passing, as well as finally meeting (well sort of) Subject 16. Not to mention Revelations finally reveals (rather beautifully I might) the ending chapters to both Altair and Ezio, who are both infinitely more interesting than Desmond will ever be. Brotherhood basically spends its time showing you that Cesare is evil, which was established in the first fifteen minutes of the game, whereas Revelations actually has Ezio deep into Ottoman politics with a couple twists and turns and betrayals. You never really know if you are helping the good guys or not, the game really brought back the element of AC1 where you can't tell if you are actually helping or just making a bigger mess out of things. The new cast members were also more interesting.

I can't really grasp how jumping from one Italian city to another is more fun than jumping from a former Roman city now turned into one of the biggest Ottoman capitals in the world. Climbing the minarets was fun and the landmarks were more interesting because the Western world doesn't like talking about Constantinople, whereas they won't shut up about Rome. The mix of Greek, Arabic, and Roman architecture made it visually more interesting than Rome who has a few derelict Roman buildings and the Coliseum and little else to look at that wasn't copied/paste from ACII. The Marco Polo quest also felt way fresher than the Brutus Cult from Brotherhood, which not only didn't go anywhere story wise, but ultimately was just a copy paste of the Assassin's Tombs quest in it's entirety (though the masquerade mission was pretty cool) with your victory being another new "ultimate armor" and weapon.

It's not that I hate Brotherhood, I just honestly felt like it was something either meant for ACII and was cut due to time, or it was meant to be a DLC. While the Desmond sections were nice in Brotherhood, I just find him boring even if he's the "chosen one" and I felt the Desmond sections were better about expanding the quirky support cast of Assassins. Still, the Desmond puzzles in Revelations are just awesome, and I really liked how they mixed his narrative with the level design.

I've been playing a lot of FFXI. It's easily my favorite game of all time. Recently, I've also started playing Halo: Reach.

I'm probably not the best person to ask. I'm not hardcore enough to even have a job over level 50 and I've only partied once in the past 3 months.

Generally, it's the same as I've always remembered it, though. Still quite alive!

    Brotherhood is even better.
You can pretty much skip Revalations, all it adds is two new tools and two new moves.
One of the moves is useless, one of the tools most certainly would not be used by a stealthy assassin, and the other one doesn't even make sense in terms of anatomy or physics. Also the town in Revalations kinda sucks. (the collection missions are epic though)
You are just wrong. Revelations is awesome, it's not as glitchy , flows better, Constantinople is a hell of a lot more fun than empty Rome, easily the best story and pacing in the whole damn series, and bombs are fun. Not to mention the Brotherhood system is a hell of lot better barring the Tower defense game, but considering it's really easy to skip it altogether, it's not a problem.

Honestly, I feel Brotherhood is the weak link of the Ezio trilogy. It's buggy, it's sub missions are infuriatingly annoying, it's story is simple but gets dragged out for 20+hours, the vehicle missions are more frustrating than fun. Rome is mostly empty country, the Guilds are treated like they are important but instead they are just extra padding and an excuse to re-use characters from AC2, the Subject 16 missions cycle through the same three damn puzzles. Honestly, Brotherhood really does feel like a DLC chapter that got padded, and released as a full game.
To be honest guys I wanna get both. I really enjoy the Assassin's Creed gameplay style. The free running & combat blend is a lot of fun. I loved The Saboteur but Assassin's Creed 2 (AC1 not so much) executes the premise in a much more polished manner. I was honestly very surprised with some of the gameplay elements in AC2. Rebuilding the city with the Auditore residence in it was a nice touch I must say thus giving the player an actual incentive to do the slightly repetitive side quests. Getting to each of the Assassin's tombs presents the player with reasonably challenging free running sections & the Templar hideouts are also pretty decent.

It is a pity I have left it this long to dive into what appears to be one of the strongest franchises in gaming.

im a few hours into brotherhood and it is not as smooth and polished as ac2 was. unfortunate.

i was so happy that i had my old stuff from my old saves in ac2 and then friggin fraggin story occured, which makes sense i guess.

dont worry sd, i'm pretty much at the same point as you in the franchise, so it's not just you.

I'm currently in Chapter 11 of Castlevania: Lords of Shadows, it's basically a God of War clone with some elements of Shadow of the Colossus mixed in in both the story and gameplay. I used to think I didn't really like GoW gameplay, but now I'm thinking I just hated Kratos and the Greek setting and the gameplay was it's saving grace.

It's a nice reboot entry with plenty of series in-jokes spread throughout the game, and while I already had the ending spoiled for me (though this twist is what actually made me finally buy it) but the story isn't half bad and having Patrick Stewart play a large role in the games story as a prominent character and as the narrator, really makes me excited to see the start of new chapters. The game play is pretty good, though the platforming segments suffer from the bad camera changes due to pre-rendered backgrounds. It wasn't so bad in the starting chapters but some of the later chapters become really frustrating because either the controls reverse when the camera changes in mid movement onto a new screen, or sometimes the controls get stuck when you are trying to activate levers. Button placement is also a mess as the R2 and L3 buttons have too many abilities attached to them and the circumstances that change the activation of one ability over another is very slim. I'm pretty bad about mashing in the analog sticks when I'm moving so having them actually use them as buttons for absorbing magic (which keeps you stationary) as well as movement can be frustrating.

Overall, it's flawed but pretty fun.

I've been playing Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale. I picked it up from the Steam Summer Sale, and I have been really enjoying it! I also started playing through a demo of Thomas Was Alone, and the game seems brilliant. Someday I will have to pick it up when I have the extra money.

Actually Revalations is an entirely different story and you never actually get to learn what happened.

oh seriously, there's no desmond bits? is it just ezio's later years?

so my biggest wtf moment was when

(SPOILER)the two male voices said 'he's going into shock' 'put him back in the animus' at the credits of ac brotherhood. i was like 'wtf' is this an animus within an animus scenario now like the inception movie? man that'd be weird.

Well the DLC material actually answers some of the cliffhanger ending to Brotherhood. The Revelations answers the other half concerning the Precursors.
