Cool!
So...I won't be on until maybe Saturday I'm in the process of attempting to graduate before Monday. I was a lazy as hell Sophmore and Junior.

Nom, I have a glass canon zon I use for MFing and I enjoy her much. For skills I maxed Guided, Strafe, Valk (If you are glass, you need a meat shield), and spread some out over the Passive skills. about 3-5 since gear brings them up to the point where they start to pooter out. Stats, Ive put nearly everything in to Dex, ending up with somewhere near 450 dex (at level 86)

I use BOTD Crusader Bow, Umed Shako, Enigma, Chanceguards, Wartravs, Goldwrap, Ravenfrost, Lifeleech/Ressie Rare ring, Crecent Moon Ammy (for lleech and mleech goodness), a Perfect Gheeds, 17/18 anni, 18/20 torch, 15 all ressie 6 dex GC, mondo Poison scs (about 900 dmg worth), and a couple mf scs as well.

My damage is only about 2000-4000, but if I swapped out my gear for +skills stuff Im certain it would be much more grand. Either way, with all the lleech and mleech I refill both anytime I hit something so I rarely die under non-lag induced circumstances.

I was thinking of this following set-up:

Skills:
Magic Arrow = 1
Cold Arrow = 1
Multiple Shot = 13
Ice Arrow = 1
Guided Arrow = 20
Strafe = 20
Inner Sight = 1
Critical Strike (passive) = 20
Dodge (passive) = 1
Slow Missiles = 1
Avoid (passive) = 1
Penetrate (passive) = 1
Decoy = 1
Evade (passive) = 1
Valkyrie = 8
Pierce (passive) = 20

Mulit-Shot seems a waste after you hit the 24 arrow mark, as it never increases damage output - only mana expenditure.

Guided Arrow is a lovely skill, and so I shall max it so as to gain a respectable increase in damage and reduce the mana cost to 1. Shooting around corners was incredibly fun in Single Player.

Strafe will be maxed for obvious reasons.

Pierce and Critical Strike will maxed only if I somehow have this character reach level 99. Basically, I plan to dump 10 points in each at first, and then filling them in as I level past 89.

I thought of increasing the Valkyrie, since one could simply max her completely and simply tag along throughout the game - watching as the Valk beat the game in your stead.

But even at level 8, she ought to reach level 17 from my +skill items, which is the point when she spawns with all Rare equipment. She also has a large amount of life at this point, allowing her to tank Baal or Diablo easily.

Really, she's meant to tank, while I kill. So 8 points seems perfect.

Armour: Fortitude Dusk Shroud (or Wire Fleece since it makes the Zon damn sexy)

Weapon: Faith Grand Matron Bow

Rings: Ravenfrost
A rare or crafted ring with LL and ML

Gloves: The +skills/20%IAS pair I found, or a crafted Hit power gloves in order to get Knockback (which may also grant the very desirable +skill/20%IAS/LL/ML mods as well)

And then the rest of the gear is difficult for me to chose...

Helms:

Giant Skull

Defense: 350-477 (varies)(Base Defense: 100-157)
Required Level: 65
Required Strength: 106
Durability: 40
+250-320 Defense (varies)
10% Chance Of Crushing Blow
Knockback
+25-35 to Strength (varies)
Socketed (1-2) (varies)

Knockback is a lovely mod to have as a Glass Cannon, and the fact that it may spawn with 2 open sockets gives me the option of placing a Shael or Um rune(s), or select Jewels that raise my attack speed, max/min damage, resists, defense, etc...

However, other than the Knockback and 2 open sockets, there is nothing great about this helm. Additionally, it offers no LL or ML, and the sockets are used in order to achieve IAS% or some less useful mod.

Andariel's Visage

Defense: 310-387 (varies)(Base Defense: 101-154)
Required Level: 83
Required Strength: 102
Durability: 20
+100-150% Enhanced Defense (varies)
+2 To All Skills
20% Increased Attack Speed
8-10% Life Stolen Per Hit (varies)
+25-30 To Strength (varies)
+10% To Maximum Poison Resist
Fire Resist -30%
Poison Resist +70%
15% Chance To Cast Level 15 Poison Nova When Struck
Level 3 Venom (20 charges)

This helm is terribly appealing, as it has 20% IAS, +skills, a huge poison resist, and a high LL. However, it has a penalty of -30% Fire resistances, and with little +resistances equipment available to a Bowazon, this may hurt. But I have 2 meat shields twenty metres in front of me at all times, so it ought not be much of an issue - at least on paper it seems that way.

Tal Rasha's Horadric Crest

Defense: 99-131 (varies)(Base Defense: 54-86)
Required Level: 66
Required Strength: 55
Durability: 20
10% Life Stolen Per Hit
10% Mana Stolen Per Hit
All Resistances +15
+45 Defense
+30 To Mana
+60 To Life

Someone explain to me why something designated for the Sorceress is so damn close to perfect for a Bowazon? The huge LL and ML, coupled with resistances, is too difficult to ignore. The only thing this helm is missing is an IAS modifier, which can be added via a socketing quest and placing a select Jewel in the newly formed socket. This helm is also missing a +skill modifier, but it seems as though +skill items don't quite make such a big difference in non-mage builds.

This helm is also ass-ugly.

M'avina's True Sight Diadem

Defense: 200-210(varies) (Base Defense: 50-60)
Required Level: 64
Durability: 20
+150 Defense
Replenish Life +10
+25 To Mana
+30% Increased Attack Speed

Other than the very large IAS modifier, I don't see any reason to use this helm but with the belt, which would grant a +1skills mod and 20 strength. But I don't need strength, and I believe I can find IAS elsewhere.

It does look nice on the Amazon though, seeing as it's a circlet.

Ultimately, I think I'll likely use either Tal Rasha's or Andy's, unless I find a orgasmic rare/crafted circlet with IAS/skills/LL & ML, etc...

Belts:

Vosferatu's Coil

Defense: 56-63 (varies)
Required Level: 51
Required Strength: 50
Durability: 14
16 Boxes
Slows Target By 10%
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
5-7% Life Stolen Per Hit (varies)
+15 To Strength
10% Increased Attack Speed
-3 To Light Radius

Honestly, this seems to be the perfect choice. There is nothing I can't complain about in this belt. It has LL, Slow, +Str mods. The only thing missing is ML, which can easily be found in rings/helms/amulets.

Wilhelm's Pride

Defense: 75 (Base Defense: 37-42)
Required Level: 42
Required Strength: 88
Durability: 18
16 boxes
+75% Enhanced Defense
5% Life Stolen Per Hit
5% Mana Stolen Per Hit
Cold Resist +10%

OR

M'avina's Tenet

Defense: 81-86 (varies)(Base Defense: 31-36)
Required Level: 45
Required Strength: 20
Durability: 14
16 boxes
+50 Defense
+20% Faster Run/Walk
+5 To Light Radius
5% Mana Stolen Per Hit
All Resistances +25 (4 Items)

Basically, these belts will be used simply if I cannot get my hands on the Vosferatu's Coil. Wilhem's is the only belt I know of that grants duel leech, and M'avina's isn't bad at all with the FR/W and ML.

Boots:

War Traveler

Defense: 120-139 (varies)(Base Defense: 39-47)
Required Level: 42
Required Strength: 95
Durability: 48
Assassin Kick Damage: 37-64
+150-190% Enhanced Defense (varies)
25% Faster Run/Walk
+10 To Vitality
+10 To Strength
Adds 15-25 Damage
40% Slower Stamina Drain
Attacker Takes Damage Of 5-10 (varies)
30-50% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items (varies)

For one reason or another, when I equipped these boots in Single Player, they raised my damage output by around 300-400 points. My guess is that somehow the 15-25 added damage modifier is being ran through the unique formula of finding her damage, and so it's given extra enhanced damage privileges, though I may be incorrect. Whatever the reason, there is a noticeable jump in damage output. I wish the FR/W speed was higher, and that there was a bonus given to Dexterity instead of Strength and Vitality, but overall, these boots seem best.

I imagine that there are rare/crafted boots that would most definitely be termed as godly for a Bowazon floating around out there. A nice increase in Dex and resistances would be perfect.

Amulets:

Crescent Moon

Required Level: 50
10% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
+45 To Mana
3-6% Life Stolen Per Hit (varies)
11-15% Mana Stolen Per Hit (varies)
Magic Damage Reduced By 10
-2 To Light Radius

This amulet boasts a marvelous ML and a very nice LL as well. However wonderful this amulet may be in that respect, it's the only thing about it that will benefit me. If I am short on ML items, I think I'll simply wear this amulet.

Highlord's Wrath

Required Level: 65
+1 To All Skills
+20% Increased Attack Speed
+ (0.375 Per Character Level) 0-37 % Deadly Strike (Based On Character Level)
Lightning Resist +35%
Adds 1-30 Lightning Damage
Attacker Takes Lightning Damage Of 15

The Lightning resistances and 20% IAS are quite nice, as is the Critical Stike modifier. The only issue with the Critical Strike mod is that my inherent Critical Strike ability is calculated first, and then run through a calculation that makes wearing this amulet less appealing than it first appears. The +skill aspect is negligible.

Atma's Scarab

Required Level: 60
5% Chance To Cast Level 2 Amplify Damage On Striking
20% Bonus To Attack Rating
+40 Poison Damage over 4 seconds
Poison Resist +75%
+3 To Light Radius
Attacker Takes Damage of 5

As a Bowazon, I will already have a huge amount of AR, and so the 20% AR boost won't be of any real use to me. knowing that a Bowazon emplioys Strafe religiously, the chance to cast Amp modifier looks like sex on hot sauce. The poison resistances is also nice, though poison doesn't seem to be a very damaging element.

The Cat's Eye

Required Level: 50
+30% Faster Run/Walk
+20% Increased Attack Speed
+100 Defense Vs. Missile
+100 Defense
+25 To Dexterity

There is nothing I can complain about in this amulet. IAS and FR/W, with an ample boost in dexterity. If I find that the chance to cast Amp is deceptively low, or that I have enough ML and LL elsewhere, I will likely use this amulet.

So, any suggestions as to what looks best? What looks wonderful on paper, but is wonderfully effective in-game? Or visa versa?

Most Bowazons I know of maximize Valkyrie as much as possible, for Strafe automatically aims, and hits targets off-screen. The only problem with a Bowazon is Physical immunes, which can be dealt with, in various fashions.

The thing about Guided Arrow is that it doesn't save on arrow economy, and while fun in single player to shoot past corners, a Valkyrie and a Mercenary should be able to absorb the one or two hits that are required before you shoot the living daylights out of that enemy. If a Valkyrie is maxed out, then it should be able to take the enemy by itself.

Here's what I once used:
20 Strafe
20 Valkyrie
20 Penetrate (or which ever one increases AR)
20 Decoy (Valkyrie life synergy)
1 in requisites
1-5 in passives (Critical Strike, etc)

This build puts less of a strain on +skills, and emphasizes the meat tank more. Strafe is more than enough.

Helm: I would agree with Bone Visage (if resistance is what you need, stick one of the low runes, and rotate it as necessary) or Andy's. The lack of fire resistance can easily be overturned by a simple Ral rune. It brings the resistance up by 30, nulling it out. I'm not sure if Dream's Holy Shock would help with the Physical Immunes, nor provide what you're looking for, but is also an option. M'avina's Helm is also an option. If you REALLY, and I mean REALLY need the resistance, use Kira's Unique Circlet (which I also have).

Armor: Chains of Honor. In so many ways is this the perfect armor for a Bowazon. Great resistance (+65 static), increased damage to both Undead and Demons, Lifesteal, reduces damage by 8%. This makes up for the increased damage and defense of Fortitude.

Bow: Grand Matron Faith. Right on the dot. Alternatively, you could also try wearing CtA and Spirit on the alternative set. However, you could try Titan's on the other set for an alternative attack, when combined with TGod's.

Amulet: Cat's Eye, Mara's. The usual, or a Rare with +skills, res, whatever you need. You could also use Highlord's Wrath, which has IAS and a +skills.

Rings: Ravenfrost and Rare. You could also double up on the Ravens for the +Dex. BK's also provide Lifesteal.

Boots: Uhh, Gores (for the CB)? You don't really have too many options here, unless you are lacking in some certain department. If Res, Nat's (Cold/Lite), Aldur's (Fire), or IK (it's got some okay mods, but its true beauty is when mixed with IK Gloves and Belt). I'm not very comfortable with the War Traveler's damage mods (remember that you can't trust the character screen).

Belt: I have a Nosferatu's Coil. I might be online later today, PM for details. IK would also suffice for the Fire/Lite res. M'avina's Tenet also works fairly well. Alternatively, you could also throw on Thundergod's Vigor, which has a 5% chance to heal (casts FoH on strike). The Lightning skills are useless, unless you want a Lightning skill as a backup. In which case, I also have a Titan's for you.

Gloves: Magnus' Skin. +IAS is all that you need, and it comes with Cold res. Alternatively, you can go with IK Gloves/Boots for the synergized IAS, or M'avina's Gloves/Belt, for whatever synergy you happen to get. Lava Gout Uniques also bear 20% IAS and fire res. Soul Drainer Uniques have both Life and Manasteal, but no other spectacular mods.

Charms: I have 2 Passives GCs. I would be more than happy to lend them to you. If you are on later tonight, PM me for details.

Beforewarned that in order to get any +resistance out of M'avina's you need 4 parts. These mods appear only on M'avina's Belt and Helm, for a total of +50 resistance to all. Depending on your items, you should be able to hit maxed, or close to it, as that CoH is a huge boost.

Nominus Experse
06-06-2007, 08:42 PM
Hmm, I didn't look too closely at the idea of wearing Chains of Honour, but due to the LL, Res, and IAS, and huge increased damage to Undead and Demons, it may be better.

The Bowazon seemed spectacular in The Chaos Santuary, which is littered with Demon-type enemies. I think I will experiment in Single Player a bit more.

I'm still very conflicted on what helm to use. None of them seem to really shine and scream "CHOSE ME".

Wearing a Giantskull with appropriate Jewels/Runes would allow me to have Knockback without crafting gloves. Andy's grants IAS and a large LL and PRes. And Tal Rasha's grants a very large duel leech.

I think they all require around the same amount of strength, so I could switch them out on command wihtout any fuss.

As for boots, I think survival is better than damage output at this point. So whatever res I am lacking in, I will opt to wear a pair that will cover the weak res.

The gloves I have are already better than Magnus'. They grant 20% IAS, +2Passive, Enhanced Defense, and ML. The only thing they're missing is res. I've never had an issue with achieving a respectable Cold Resistance, but I suppose we'll see.

CimminyCricket
06-06-2007, 09:13 PM
Yeah, I need to redo my zon! xD

Tavrobel
06-06-2007, 09:37 PM
CoH is your best bet, armorwise. Since in Hell mode, you only need approximately 150 resistance for full, you have instantly reduced your requirements to 85, all. Chaos Sanctuary is littered with Demons and Undead; there are no Animal type enemies until right before you get there, and even then, they are easily dispatched. Iron Maiden is no problem, since it only works at melee range.

Depending on which helm you want to use, any of them could be possible. Remember that IAS maxes out at around 95%. With a high Dex rating, it's more like 75%. PvM only really requires around 5000 Defense, total, and 7000 AR.

If you want res, so that you don't have to worry about it on other equipment, go with Kira's (I believe that mine is 57% all), and can be socketed (with Larzuk). Andy's +100% Poison is also a boon to choose. Skull Visage seems to have the best ideal for customization: two 15% IAS jewels are 30% IAS, but runes could also be used to increase resistance. Two Um runes is an additional 19%, bringing your total to 38% all in Visage. Tal's Helm is also another option with 15% all res, static boost to Life, Mana, and Life/Manasteal. It is also by far the cheapest.

However, if you go with my suggested build, your only real problem would be Mana. Therefore, Manasteal would be of a higher priority, putting preference toward Tal's. IAS has a cap on an Amazon, as well.

There are very few outstanding boots that should be used in all situations. Same for Gloves, but since you have some with good stats, treat your boots like Rings. I'll assume you know which Rings, Amulet, and Belt to use.

Do you even have a Grand Matron Bow? Because I sure as hell don't. Fortunately for you, Faith covers many other weak points. I have a 4Os Blade Bow as of the moment, but not a GM bow.

Have you given any thought to what Mercenary you will use? I'm not sure that Might works on a Bowazon, but it sure as hell boosts your Valkyrie. You shouldn't need Blessed Aim. However, I might think that Concentration (Pride) would work wonders. Thorns would be pretty useless.

However, you could simply not worry about Lifesteal nor Manasteal if you slipped on a Prayer with Insight. That might free up room for resistance (Kira's). A regular Mercenary build would suffice (any helm, Fortitude, Insight if mana boost, Pride for Concentration)

Nominus Experse
06-06-2007, 09:52 PM
I tried a Pride NM Offensive Mercenary in Single Player, and it seemed to be the best option as it raises your damage to a very respectable amount.

I liked the Giant Skull most when I tested the equipment. The ability to customize without losing Knockback is ever so lovely. There are jewels that grant 40% Enhanced damage as well, so that could be an option (albeit an expensive one).

I actually like this build quite a bit. Unlike many other builds, you can easily switch items in and out without fucking your main skill over.

No points go into Vitality until Str and Dex requirements for equipment have been met. A few points here and there is okay, so long as you can equip your median equipment before your end-game build. By level 50, your points should look like this:

Str: < 100 unless equipment demands require it, or +Str equipment is had
Dex: < 100 if not base; if higher, then higher
Vita: ~ 100-120
Eng: none

At level 80:
Str: enough to equip, within 10 points of highest equipment
Dex: enough to equip, within 5 points of highest equipment
Vit: everything else
Eng: base

Also, an interesting thing I discovered today:

I learned how to make it so that your character will indefinitely run while in the Rogue Camp. I don't know if this is news to anyone, but to me it was. For those of whom are interested, here are some shots in order to achieve such a thing:

http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/2271/screenshot005ho6.jpg
When you begin as a new character, Akara bears an exclamation mark, meaning she wishes to bother you. Characters with an exclamation mark will move towards you if within a certain distance.

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/4158/screenshot007ah5.jpg
Lure Akara to around this location. Once here, quickly click Akara and then click somewhere else. DO NOT SPEAK TO AKARA. When you click Akara, she will sop moving, effectively anchoring her in place.

Once she is anchored, move to around this location:

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/8057/screenshot008vg6.jpg
And then click Akara. You're character will now indefinitely run as it vainly attempts to engage Akara.

This is nice for when perming a mule, or giving yourself a seizure if you sit and watch the shaking screen.

You could also use a mule-bot, but meh... basically, for those that don't wish to use any bots whatsoever, this method seems to work mighty well.

They also ban you for:
A) joining or leaving games too quickly or in a repeated fashion (killa gets Realmdowned for Baal runs all the time)
B) changing characters on a single account too quickly or in a repeated fashion (I get tempbanned for mule checking very frequently)
C) lagging (yes, lagging)

Warden (the online collective term for all of Blizzard's security measures, even though it functions solely as spyware, which is in turn used for detecting hacks and third party programs) is capable of banning IP, connection source, and CD-Key. You were either hit by the second or the third.

What really humors me about b.net and its security measures is that when I run my bot, it never gets realm-downed (as it waits a set period before creating a new game). However, when I play as myself, I realm-downed for performing actions similar to a bot.

Eh?

LunarWeaver

I get banned for the game "thinking" I'm a bot now and again. Plus, they implemented those new anti-dupe measures or whatever and I constantly get kicked because my game seems to read like that's what I'm doing. I dunno, that's the best I can figure anyway, because it never used to happen and now it does.

And I used to do so many runs in a row that it would temp ban me, too. I'm human, damnit, let me run my runs :nonono:

Nominus Experse

I reckon I now have around 1/12 of the game's total uniques and 1/10 of its sets.

It will become much more difficult when I am unable to save each and every unique or set I come across. In fact, the items I take back with me will exponentially decreases, it would seem.

I really don't know what I will accomplish by collecting every single possible item in the game, but nonetheless, I want to.

EDIT: It will take even longer when b.net realm-downs me....

If you preset it to a long enough delay between games, it'll never get you. However, it's easier to catch a person doing bot-like things, because of the little things that humans do to give themselves way. You'd think it would work backwards, but it doesn't.

And I used to do so many runs in a row that it would temp ban me, too. I'm human, damnit, let me run my runs :nonono:

They don't want you to do endless runs/endless Baal, either, so I'm not surprised by that.

I don't get Blizzard's line of thinking on that at all. The biggest allure of Diablo II is the variety of items and attempting to hunt the rarest ones and make the best character possible. But they refuse to just accept that. They're anti-runs, anti-MF, anti-transfering, anti-stash space, anti-mule, anti-everything that makes Diablo II what it is. Everybody just gets around it, anyway. It seems pointless.

I take it that you've never played 1.03 vanilla, or 1.07 expansion.

They are anti-runs, because it's too easy to store items. Also, there's a greater increase on server demands. Even though you can summon a new client, the buzz doesn't go away for a long while. So massing games isn't fun for the servers.

They are anti-muling/MF, because Diablo II is supposed to be about item management. You have ti know what to sell and to throw away, and what to keep.

They officially are not anti-transferring. Anything you lose is your own fault for the same reasons listed above.

I'll agree on the Stash, and that their restrictions are incredibly harsh. However, if you've ever played Diablo I, you'll know just exactly why they put these restrictions in place. That game died online years ago. I'm surprised they even bother to support it anymore. It's almost the same for Starcraft.

Dear god, I hope they haven't banned my CD-Key, I only have one for the non expansion.

I think that they ban on the Expansion if you got caught by Warden on expansion. If you've never cheated (or even been online for Vanilla), then you'll be fine.

I wish ATMA worked for b.net....

ATMA will never work online, because the coding base assumes that all things about characters are stored locally. Since Realms are stored on the servers, re-writing ATMA to work for B.net would be an entirely different program, not to mention the added code to keep it from appearing malicious to Warden.

LunarWeaver

I have been around since the beginning of D1 of course <3. I watched them both evolve. It's just that they implement a lot of new ideas, but never to make certain things easier when I know they could. 1.11 is a completely different game than the 1.00 (and not all due to the expansion), but they still won't put in an xfering system. It wouldn't be that hard at all and then I wouldn't have to bug other people to help me do it. They won't do it for the same reason you said: they've been trying to make it about "item management" since the beginning. They've even said they want to force players to pick and choose what they keep and don't. But when people have been getting around it for this long with mules, it's time to just let it go.

As for runs, I'd rather they just be unhappy about it then go for the whole "good drops on the first kill and then never again"...thing. So I'll just let it go. Although, that's just for items; I want them to nerf the experience. If Baal was gone, people would simply get together and run from the beginning of Act-5 to the end as an 8-person group. This would make the builds much more even and the characters all have more of a purpose rather than it being a bunch of Hammerdins and then you. If that's all I wanted to do, I'd make a simulator where I stand in a red room and watch a white bar slowly fill itself over and over. In fact, considering the time it takes to find a good baal game in Hell, it would probably work out to twice the experience in the long-run to just get together and play through Act-5 in its entirety, but what do I know.

I can dream of things that won't happen...and I shall. Dreams of patches never to come.

I'm making a Javazon. It's the first Amazon I've done without the magic line of skills, including Decoy and Valkyrie. They sure gave Lightning Fury some hella high synergies. Of coure, I'm really doing all the synergies for a badass Charged Strike :jess:.

EDIT: Today was quite profitable. I amassed around 60 - 70 new items today.

MORE INTERESTING EDIT:

Cim has thought - surprising, I know, it thinks - of an interesting tournament we could hold for all of us lame Diablo II players of EoFF.

We could hold an official Hard Core EoFF Diablo Dueling Tournament.

Here is the premise:

We all create one or more Hard Core players.
We then level them up to 9 or 10.
At this point, we hold a duel between a fellow EoFF player of the same level.
Whoever wins advances on to the next round.

These would be untwinked characters, so then it wouldn't simply be a duel of who has the best low-end gear.

That's all he spoke to me about, but I think there are few things we could also do.

- Team duels would be interesting.
- And having one character that has defeated all the others separately will fight ALL of the others at once to see if he is completely and utterly king. Also known as suicide/revenge.

So, an example would be this:

Caffeine is one of them habit forming drugs. Eventually, you need more and more just to get back to normal. Withdrawal symptoms can be very painful, ranging from laziness (OMFG), violence (o rly?), and thoughts of death from having no source of caffeine (well, this is rare).

By the way Lunar, you don't actually install it. Literally, it's drag and drop after download. For the even lazier, there's Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V. Okay, so you might have to back up the MPQ file, but that is, at most, 6 clicks.

Right Click --> New --> Folder --> Click --> Drag --> Drop --> Rename (optional)

Actually, depending on the source, it'll come to you as a RAR file, all compressed and stuff. That takes a substantially increased amount of effort, but seriously, how do you not know how to use an archiver?

Seeing Nom's screenshot made me decide to start up a random minor side-discussion in this thread:

How do you organize your inventory and stash? Where do you keep your cube?

I keep my Tome of Town Portals in the upper-right corner of my inventory with my keys, then work my way back to the left with charms, leaving 8-16 spaces, or 2-4 columns, free to pick up items. In my stash, I keep my cube in the upper-right or upper left corner, with gems organized by column at the bottom of the stash, skulls and runes at the top next to the cube, and other items in the middle.

*Ribcracker*

EDIT: OMFG, managing all these items is a pain in the ass...

If you want, you can use my mules. Quite a few of them have half empty inventories/stashes.

Cim has my passwords.

How do you organize your inventory and stash? Where do you keep your cube?

Cube is top left of the inventory, always, and is usually clear of items. The tomes (TP and Identify) are either to the right, or directly below. The TP tome is usually to the left of the Identifies. Charms litter going from left to right, in whatever order is most convenient. At the end of the day on an active character, I'll wind up with anywhere from 4*4 spaces to 2*4 (vertical dimension first).

In my stash, equipment goes at the top (top left for Cube if necessary), whiles Gems and Runes go at the bottom.

My inventory is pretty much the same for Median, except for my Cube/Stash, and low Runes take up the bottom right of the inventory. My Cube holds all of my equipment. In the Stash, Gems are at the bottom, Jewels/Shards/crafting jewelry go to the bottom left, and highs Runes go to the top.

Nominus Experse
06-13-2007, 07:43 PM
Tav and I seem to be clones in how we organize our items, both in our inventory and stash.

I always make sure that my Anni and Torch are in the middle of my inventory, so that I don't accidentally sell or drop these items.

Charms are grouped together based on type. All my MF are clustered together, as are my Life, Res, FHR, etc... The only time this is broken is when I jam my Torch and Anni in the middle of it all.

The tome of tps is always tucked away on the left side of my inventory so that I can quickly call up my inventory, right-click the tome, and travel on home. I could call up the skill select, but I found out that it is less distance and requires one less click to simply right-click my tome. I could hot-key my tome of tps, but that's something I don't want to do - I generally am not in need of retreating, but rather in need of returning to Cain.

On characters that have a naturally slow casting animation - such as the Amazon - I place 4 tps in my belt to avoid the casting animation. Very handy when retreating or simply cannot suffer the slow animation.

The cube in generally empty so I can carry polearms and other large items without any hassle. My inventory is chalk-full of MF charms, so carrying my cube is something of a must. Once I return to town and Cain has identified my items, I either place them in stash, load them off in some random Normal game, or sell them. New characters seem to like anything with a gold or green title, if even its useless.

Due to the nature of my MFing, I commonly fill up within 30 minutes. Although, I expect this will become increasingly slower as I gather more and more items.

My estimate as of right now is that I have around 200+ items.

EDIT: Wooo! Found a Highlord's, Gheed's, and a Stormlash within three runs.

Yeah...most of the girls on Diablo have pretty good gazongas, but the 'Zon puts 'em all to shame.

(For the record, the gay thing still is not strong enough to drown out the fascination with boobs. I'm sure SRL would be willing to corroborate that too.)
No, the gay thing is enough for me, I have no fascination with boobs. I do notice their size and all that, but it does nothing for me.

I now see why companies loathe taking inventory.. it takes forever, my god.

I've now hit the 264 mark in terms of items; 280 counting duplicates of items (Magefists, Wizardspikes, other useful items, etc...)

I still need to organize them all, but I think I will have to make separate accounts for each item type, seeing as there are far more items than I initially thought.

Fun times.

EDIT:

I made a checklist using Excel for all the Uniques found in the game. I created such a thing for myself, but I thought that perhaps others could make use of it as well (as a method of tracking mules or some such)

I personally cannot stand having it on the left tab. It just drives me nuts. There's something about it I don't like because I'm strange. The only time I ever do is Martial Arts Assassins (finishing moves on one and charges on the other) and Paladins because of the aura things. But Paladins suck, so who cares about them

However, I do see you're still using the F keys, which are horrible. Change them to other keys immediately you heretic.

My key set-up of ultra awesome:

ZXCV- skills 1 through 4
ASDF- Skills 5 through 8

This puts them all comfortably right next to each other in a perfect little square. Then B, N, and M, are the inventory, char, and skill screens, as those three letters are right next to my bottom line of skills. Q for the Quest screen that nobody looks at and W for weapon switch can stay the same because they're right above my second skill line.

I also changed the item pop-up from alt to the spacebar so it's a larger button and I don't hit the Windows key on accident. To compensate, I changed the Clear Screen to mouse 3 which works surprisingly well.
Wheeeeeeee~!!

Edit:

It also upsets me that my Javazon is charmed and nobody can see her equipment except for her Titan's. Her later stuff will make her look silly and right now she looks smexy ;_;. So everybody look at her and clap:

I have a few types of set-ups, varying on the type of build.

Ranged:

Skills 1 -5
Caps Lock A S D F

Skills 6 - 9
SPACE F7 F8 F9

Potions:
Q W E R

Switch:
Mouse 5

Inventory:
Mouse 3 (Click of mouse wheel)

Quest:
NA (Don't need)

Character screen:
C

Caster AKA Lazy Builds:

Skills 1 - 8
Defaults

I have my mouse wheel hot-keyed so that when I spin it up or down, it cycles through skills. My most commonly used skill is keyed to the left, and the others are organized to hang in groups, allowing me spin the wheel and click without interruption.

Potions:
Default

Switch:
E

Quest:
Q

Inventory:
Mouse 3 (Click of mouse wheel)

Character Screen:
A or C

Melee:

Very much like Lunar's standard set-up, though I remain true to keying my inventory to my Mouse wheel, switch on G, and potions to Q W E R and Mouse 1 (Q).

I never change Alt.

I've been doing that for a long time. But I still use the F Keys for characters who don't have as many skills. For example, I leave my Barbarian's attack on Frenzy. He only has to cast BC, BO, and Shout. F1-3, with Leap at F4. Problem solved.

Also, can I get a Nat's claw for the Griswold weapon? I know nobody uses Griswold's that much, but nobody uses Nat's claw either. It's only good for attacking and everybody is a trapper. The only trapper set-up I can imagine using it would be full Nat's plus a Chaos, throw up some traps, then whirlwind everywhere. But I have seen that exactly never.

So, while Nat's Claw may be really hard to find, it's also just not that useful. ;( Well, except for me, 'coz I want it.

I was curious about the Fade and hidden Physical Reduction thing. I went to DiabloII.net to see if I could find anything.

Q: What's this about Fade having PDR?

A: Fade has a hidden PDR bonus of 1% per skill point invested it in (whether natural or from +skills). So, an slvl 10 Fade would have 10% hidden PDR. This only applies when Fade is active.

Considering that...

Vampire Gaze - 20%
Shaftstop- 30%
Stormshield- 35%
String of ears- 15%
Level 20 Fade- 20%
Total= 120% Reduction.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this make you completely invulnerable to physical attacks?

I suppose it doesn't matter anyway. No Martial sin is going to choose Fade over Burst of Speed, and the real dangers are elemental attacks in hell. It would be better to get resists on equipment and use Burst, but I still thought it was fun to think about, so bite me.

My new Sin is going to need some pretty boots. If anybody is carrying around regular mesh boots or finds some, I would like them if they don't want them. I'm going to try imbuing them like crazy to find a good pair. Mesh Boots don't have the highest damage, but the strength requirements of higher boots are too much for me to fuss with. Sins need a hella lotta life if they plan on being close and personal, and I can't go spilling tons into Str. And don't even bring up Shadow Dancers and their -20% requirements to me because I'm never gonna get my hands on a pair.

And how much does an Arreat's trade for?

Nominus Experse

Goddamn you Blizzard. I knew it was too good to be true. The Great Jubbah knows the Assassin needs a special ticket to break that rule. If they're going to make her suck, then at least bend rules for her.

Nominus Experse
06-18-2007, 02:38 AM
Consider equipping a weapon that adds stun or slow effects to give you an upper hand. I believe that the Assassin's kicks can reach the second highest attack frame rate, so you ought to be able to survive easily with the right items and planning.

LunarWeaver
06-18-2007, 02:51 AM
Trust me, I have tested this up the wazoo using Zonfire on single player. In a Hell game, with the best equipment she can possibly have and stuff that I will never actually own on Realm, she is still not as strong as most other character builds. And she still dies a lot. Can you imagine being a Martial Sin and stepping into a room full of Souls and Dolls in an eight player game and surviving?

It's true that kicks can do a lot of damage. With the right boots, Tiger Strike and Dragon Tail can reach upwards of 20k. But that's after hitting them three times to get three charges and then a fourth time for the Finishing Move. Sorcs can do that much in one shot and do it faster at a safer range.

And let's look at a skill I like to call What the Smurf Strike:

Phoenix Strike at level 20 with all three Synergies maxed:
Charge 1 - meteor damage: 1074-1230
38: Fire Explosion Damage: 951-993 per second
62: Charge 2 - chain lightning damage: 3-2664
62: Charge 3 - chaos ice bolt damage: 468-528
2: Attack: +148 percent

Lightning Sentry at level 20 with all three synergies maxed:
Lightning Damage: 8-2574
1: Mana Cost: 20

The highest damaging effect of Phoenix Strike is the second charge, Lightning. The other two are pathetic. The freeze on the third is nice and isn't for damage anyway, but then you're just a really crappy version of a Freezing Arrow amazon with a crappier summon to boot.

So basically, your reward for running into a group of enemies then hitting them twice and a third time to set off a charge is doing the same damage as one single trap out of five. Gee, I wonder why more people don't use this.

You could argue Phoenix is the most flexible skill in the game, but really it's just a pain. You actually have to stop and attack slower to make sure you don't go past the charge you want or that she didn't miss and get another charge, otherwise you are constantly setting off a charge you didn't want. While all the Amazons elemental spear/javelin skills are Always Hit, they just couldn't see fit to do the same with the skill that actually needed it.

The only reason I play the assassin is because she happens to be my favorite character. I personally don't care that she isn't the best in the game because I like the challenge, it's just very odd to me how unbalanced she actually is. Even though she gets 3 HP per Vit, her claws require even dex and str and she ends up having fairly low health no matter what. That' s also kind of her point, so I get it; she's fast with low health. She's the "mage fighter" character type. Well, if that's the case, then make her mage fighting do lots of damage and not less than the actual mage.

She might be fast, but she's just not the toughest cookie in the batch, kids. Oh well, I still like her. I still choose her over Hammerdins unlike Chimney other people I won't mention.

You can play on Open Battle.net and TCP/IP. I use the latter to transfer amongst myselves all the time.

That'll be around level 70 for Hatred.

edit: Does EoFF have a Median Server Name?

No.

The primary reasons are because the people who play Median, (me, Maxx Power, and possibly Khaotic) no longer play LoD vanilla. As we are the only major three who have an interest in Median, our demand is not high. Furthermore, all three of us have connection problems, spurred on by distance (Maxx lives several hours ahead of me, and Khaotic is enough of a recluse as it is).

Additionally, I level my characters very quickly. Within a few days, I can have a character from 1 to 120; even if I started a new character, you would play with that character at most, once.

Alright, so I lied - I'm still playing.

If he follows the pattern of addiction that I followed, then his most major loss will become his finest hour. Fresh from the rage of losing that which he values the most in Diablo II, his soul will creep back from depression in utter rage and anger, and fight back against the Man, in an effort to regain a bit of what he lost. This will cause him to switch to hunter mode, and strike down any and everything in his MF path, and in consequence, he will find not gold, but heaps of silver and diamonds.

Chimney, I don't know if you remember, but we were wondering about how good Lycander's Aim would be as an Elite instead of an Exceptional a few days back. I know you want a Faith anyway, but I was testing out the upgraded version in single player using Zonfire for myself and took picture in case you wanted to see the difference.

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/LunarWeaver/Screenshot004.jpg

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/LunarWeaver/Screenshot005.jpg

I also tested out some stuff with boots and kick damage. With the generous lendings of Vietnom and Chimney, I have the entire Nat's Set. I could use this and get great bonuses for equipment none of my other characters will want or need, so I won't have to strip them.

The only problem is Nat's boots are Mesh Boots, which have average kick damage. This is my damage with three tiger strike charges and dragon tail (which my realm assassin is doing) with Nat's boots and the strongest boots in the game:

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/LunarWeaver/Screenshot007.jpg

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/LunarWeaver/Screenshot009-1.jpg

As you can see, the difference is pretty astounding. The Shadow Dancers minimum damage is larger than Nat's maximum. They have high strength, but I'm thinking they're worth getting. I might have to trade for a +1 pair since they'll be cheaper and I don't care about having "perfect" ones anyway.

And Vietnom was right, you cannot upgrade set equipment :( Of course, this means I'll have to make a Phoenix Strike assassin for the sole reason of using the full Natalya set. Phoenix sins are fine enough using Dragon Claw to set off their charges, so I won't be worried with boot damage anymore.

Tavrobel
06-21-2007, 01:04 AM
Which armor are you using? It doesn't look like Nat's Armor. Your best option might be a Fortitude.

And as for your weapons, are those Bartuc's?

Markus. D
06-21-2007, 01:13 AM
Wow~

So many potions in your inventory.

:(

LunarWeaver
06-21-2007, 02:09 AM
Those are upgraded Bartuc's, although it didn't really matter since the damage didn't come out to very much difference.

Really, as far as claws go, I've tried them all and none of them really do any significant damage in a Hell game with other players. Nat's claws against Demons or Undead can, but there's not much point to it. You're only hitting one person, so it's not like whirlwind or strafe where your weapon damage is important to wiping out the whole room. It's all about getting charges as fast as you can and then getting off finishing moves. All I care about are bonuses, and the ones on Bartuc's are the best. And the Ladder only claws are just stupid.

She's wearing a Dusk Shroud Chains of Honor, and if my realm assassin doesn't end up wearing Nat's then I'll take the CoH off my Javvie and put it on her. The javvie can just wear...Shaftstop, or something. The assassin will need the ressies, since I want to dual-wield Bartuc's instead of wearing a Jade (+6 to all martial arts is just too sexy).

Then again, Fortitude does gives some ressies, just not as much, and the other bonuses are fairly nice. I have a four-socket dusk shroud and all the runes but Lo...

I really should trade for another ber and just make another Enigma for my Javvie. I have three socket armor and an Ith and a Jah already. But trading is...silly :yuck:

Wow~

So many potions in your inventory.

:(

:jess:. you could almost call me a...POT HEAD. ROFLROFLROFLROFl... *sits in the corner of shame*

My realm assassin will unfortunately not have that many. She'll be jacked up with Strength and Dex charms. This one has an anni and a sin torch so she never had to worry about stats much. Plus Bartuc's gives +20 to str and dex a piece, so she was pretty set, wheeeeee~

I think that boots work like shields and that a Fortitude won't raise the damage because the game won't recognize it as a weapon. It will greatly raise my claw damage, but like I said, I just don't think it will matter. I haven't checked it, though, but it doesn't work for smiters so I doubt it will work for kickers.

Edit:

Oh, the Ladder is resetting in roughly four days, too.

Diablo II Ladder Reset on June 25!
We will be resetting the Diablo II ladder on June 25, 2007, beginning a new ladder season and providing a fresh start for those participating on the ladder realms. All current ladder characters will be moved to the non-ladder realm, and the ladder realm will re-open as a blank slate where all-new heroes can make their mark. Try out a new character idea, adventure with your friends, and race to be the first on your realm to reach level 99. The realms will be offline for approximately four hours during the ladder reset. Once the specific schedule for the reset has been determined, we’ll post that information in the Battle.net Status Forum.

So, if you have any Ladder-only items to find or runewords to make, I guess you better hurry the hell up :grover:.

Tavrobel
06-21-2007, 03:22 AM

EDIT: Spirit, Infinity, Fortitude, and Insight are all Ladder-only. Make them fast.

Did you realize that there are multiple sheets within the spreadsheet? You ought to be able to see them in the bottom-left hand corner, categorized by type (Armor, Jewelry & Charms, etc...)

Thanks for the thought though.

EDIT: Cim (and whoever else does not have Excel), I converted the sheets to a webpage, and then later a .rar file, so you can use this as well.

Silly me. I guess I truly was just desperate enough to make it since I can't play D2 at the moment. It was the closest thing. Aside from playing D1 on the Playstation. But I vow not to stoop that low.

[Edit: Reads rest of thread.] I hate Bnet. Im curious to see what I will still have on my chars when I come back. But alas, what is one to do? I think I am actually going to start playing Median. It seems much less tedious than the blasphemous kind of way Closed Bnet is nowadays...

Lying Character Screen; I have to keep telling people about this. Numbers shown do not necessarily represent damage done. Diablo II has this very weird thing of the damage being done not actually always being represented. Usually, Fortitude shows damage, but in this case, it does not.

Unles the lack of +skills is taking effect here. I don't know the growth of the Asn Martial skills. It's certainly not exponential, but it could be self-stacking. Have you tried attacking an enemy?
