• Tomb Raider Multiplayer?

There have been many speculations over the addition of a multiplayer option for the new "Tomb Raider" reboot. As of yesterday, it has been confirmed.

The confirmation was given by Crystal Dynamics Global Brand Director, Karl Stewart through Twitter.

No details have been given yet, but it has been said that all will be revealed in the next issue of "Official Xbox Magazine". The retail listing for "Tomb Raider" on the GAME website has stated that the game will feature a "variety of multiplayer modes."

Fans are wondering what these multiplayer options will entail; as it will be the first game in the series to feature them. Some fans are concerned that any multiplayer features may take away from the quality and the intended direction of the game, but many are very excited to learn more about them.

Whatever Crystal Dynamics have designed for this game, it's sure to get people talking and give the franchise a completely new feel.

I can already see the potential for a Portal 2 style co-op mode. That'd be fecking amazeballs.

I know, it could be very exciting!
I wonder how online based it will be!

CAD pretty much sums up my thoughts on the issue. If there is coop, who would want to be player 2? At least Luigi entered the series way at the beginning, and even then, everyone hates him. What other characters are there who could fill the role of Player 2? Her butler (I would so play Henry the butler as portrayed by Chris Barrie, but that's just 'cause I'm a huge Red Dwarf fan)?

The same argument could go for Halo, but that worked wonderfully. I've lived with 4 other people for the past 2 years and at least 1 other person for the past 3. Coop is awesome.

Every time I see more footage of the new TR, a small part of my youth gets softly blowtorched away. First time I looked, I learned it had turned into Gears of War meets Assassin's Creed meets NIGHT, then I learned that gone are the iconic dual pistols in favour of bows and arrows and the game smurfing lights up with a big shining beacon where you need to go next, and now, just when I thought I had cried all my tears...she has some horrible american-trying-to-do-british-and-failing accent. I acknowledge it's a dark and gritty series reboot and all, and the game will probably be good, but...trout. Just...just call it something else...I can't go through Angel of Darkness-itis again.

As for the multiplayer, it'll probably be a 3rd person Unreal Tournament 99. With crossbows and mud.

My memories of playing Tomb Raider are inexorably linked with a memory of getting my finger trapped in a crushing door trap (known to the ignorant as a "letterbox"). As such, any thought of Tomb Raider brings phantom finger ache.

Oh god, that whole thing was worded hideously.

I like the sound of this game more and more. As for "Who would want to be player two!?" - if you haven't played that co-op game Lara Croft and the Whatever Else (Guardian of Light?), it's great fun. I think I play as Whatever Else and Danielle plays as Lara, and we had a great time with it. We should really finish it someday.

I second everything from Manus. This series gave me a bad taste in my mouth when The Last Revelation came out, but I pushed through. Lara Croft is so far from her original self that I can't find it in myself to love her anymore

Making it a multiplayer makes it into an entirely different game. It might appeal to some, but I washed my hands of Tomb Raider a long time ago.

There is a multiplayer option. I mean, Uncharted is one of the best series I've ever played, and it has a multiplayer option too. Which isn't half bad, I might add, but hardly anyone notices the multiplayer as it's primarily a single player game. And some people call Uncharted a ripoff of Tomb Raider, so...

I loved the early TR, and I especially loved Last Revelation.

Angel of Darkness was the worst one I played, the newer ones like Legend, Underworld annnd, I can't remember the other one have also been superb!

I'm looking forward to this take on Lara in all honesty.

I am slightly amused that on the same forum where people openly slate developers for just sticking to the sequel machine and not being "innovative" or taking risks it then turns around and gets upset about a developer trying a new twist on an established IP as if it's defiling some sort of sacred tome. It's like... make your mind up.

There's nothing 'new' about this particular twist.

Sure there is. Now we get to see plenty of cleavage instead of the rotund outline of breasts.

Nothing new. Not like there was a massive controversy over an alleged rape scene or anything like that which is still a fairly taboo topic in video games despite the chorus of 14 year old boys going around saying they're raping each others mothers everytime they kill someone on Call of Duty.

Just read that the girl who is doing this was born in Berkshire, so she's English. Criticise her accent if you like, but it's authentic British. She does have some twangs which I don't know if they are Ascot twangs or her picking up some parts of the American accent, but she still says a lot of words in a very British way. Going by interviews, not the game.

EDIT: Listening to other Berkshire accents on YouTube, I'd say she hasn't picked up all that much of American, they sound very similar.

She's actually British? She honestly sounds like she's putting it on in game. xD

Oh my God kill it with fire. The accent is slipping all over the place. It's like I'm listening to Microsoft Sam.

Just a weird accent, I guess, but that's accents for you.
