• US Collector's Edition revealed for Lightning Returns: FINAL FANTASY XIII

Square Enix revealed today that there will be a special collector's edition available for the upcoming release of Lightning Returns: FINAL FANTASY XIII. The boxed set will only be available exclusively through Square Enix's own online store.

The box features most of the pretty conventional collector's edition contents such as some exclusive box art, DLC and an 80-page hardcover artbook that touts some exclusive, never revealed before, artwork.

    The artbook features:
    • A foreward by series art director Isamu Kamikokuryo
    • An introspective look at the world's and architecture of Nova Chrysalia
    • Tetsuya Nomura's original artwork and sketches of the characters
    • A "nostalgia section" that showcases crossover costumes, Chocobos and Moogles.

The Piède de résistance of this collector's edition is a silver embossed pocket watch featuring the Lightning Returns ensignia and a DLC code for the Aerith Gainsborough's "Midgar Flower Girl" costume, which was previously only available as an exclusive bonus in Japan.

This collector's edition has only been confirmed for release in North America right now, on 11th February 2014 and will set you back $89.99 plus shipping.

If your appetite needs further whetting then, as always, Square Enix have made a video to show off this exclusive edition:

Pocket watch looks pretty sweet. I don't think I'd buy this, but it's nice to see something more tangible than the standard art booklet in the CE.

Welp, time to cancel my preorder and get this little ditty. I'd spend that for the pocketwatch alone, but I'm a sucker for collectable trout.

Yeah if this does show up for EU I might actually get it. Mostly because I'm a sucker for CEs xD

I can't give Square my money fast enough. I am going to get this one.

I wanted to get the pre-order of the Cloud Strife outfit, but I'm sure you can buy it from the online store. The exclusives in this one far out way that.

      This looks amazing

I hate SE. I'm poor. Have less cool stuff so I don't feel so bad about being so poor and being unable to get it :/ THAT WATCH.

Agh...I'm short on money. What's worse, I don't even plan on playing the game but this collector stuff gets me almost all the time; got the CE for XIII-II and this one looks pretty great too. & that watch is cool.

Also, aerith's dress for Lightning? I never liked this whole cosplayer theme for the game.

A decent silver pocket watch'll cost you upwards of $50 dollars anyway, so one might as well buy the whole set.

I like that this post implies you are some sort of connoisseur of fine silver timepieces when you're really a scrumpy drinking loon from Somerset.

I hope we get this in the EU as well, or at least one that's similar . . . with a pocketwatch!

I hate FFXIII, I hate Lightning, but the nerd in me is still going "holy trout that's cool."

I almost wish I cared about this game now.

Just pre-ordered this a few hours ago. I was relieved to see that the Cloud pre-order bonuses come with this version as well
