• Project Setsuna confirmed for Western Release

Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna (Setsuna of Sacrifice and Snow) has finally been confirmed for Western release. Renamed I am Setsuna, the game is targeted for a summer release for both PlayStation 4 and Steam. No word on whether the game will be released for the Vita, though it may be due to the game's slow load times on the system.

The game was released in Japan last month to good reviews and the game's developer, Tokyo RPG Factory, have long touted their desire to recreate a game that embodies nostlagic RPGs like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, and Dragon Quest V. I am Setsuna is their first game.

The game even has a Western website now, though I would still recommend checking out the Japanese site for it's amazing samples of the game's musical score. For more info on what the game is about, check here.

I have no idea why, but I can't just hype myself for this. Then again, that was also the case with Bravely Default, and I ended up loving the crap out of that. Perhaps it's just me automatically curbing my enthusiasm so that I can get pleasantly surprised later? We'll see I do hope we get the Vita version as well, though, as the little system needs some more loving from SE.

I also question your musical tastes Mirage. First you slam the XCX OST, and now this? The battle theme is nowhere near a masterpiece, but it's certainly catchy and light. I do like it a lot. i just wish they'd used a real piano.

      Dang, I miss my piano

This seems interesting enough, and I do love snow. I might consider it. I have Persona 5 in summer as well.

It's not bad as music, just bad as battle music.

XCX's soundtrack had a few good tracks, but it was on a whole underwhelming. It was the city themes that left the sourest taste in my mouth. Those two alone are so bad that even 5 good tracks don't make up for them, and there's just about 5-6 good tracks in the game, leaving the total score at at "meh". The rest of it was "ok, but not amazing".

The battle theme actually reminds me of Hamauzu's battle themes. And you guys know I'm a huge Hamauzu nerd.

Looks like the reason the Vita version isn't part of the package is one part due to the game being designed for big screen first and secondly, because Vita sales are still not so great outside of Japan. With all that said, I'm just finally happy to know we'll get it.

Sigh... And here I was happy my Vita would get some action.
