Practically, it doesn't really matter whether they're "gods" or primals. That's also assuming we can take what that person says at face value, or that "the eldest of primals" even function the same way as your everyday summoned primal.

If anyone dies, I hope it's Alphinaud or Tataru. I agree one or more people are probably going to die, since Stormblood was surprisingly kind to us in that regard.

Yup, Stormblood felt like a breather episode after Heavensward. And after the breather it's a lot worse than what came before. I put Y'stola on the list of characters I think are going to die, but it's really unlikely. She's the poster child of the game. She got sliced in half at the beginning of Stormblood and was fine before the end of the first story. And by 5.1 she was up and running around.

Or maybe they pull a ARR/FFIV and everyone will die except not really.
