• Final Fantasy I and II to be remade for PSOne...

Square has announced that Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II are to be remade for the PSOne.

As you may recall, Square has remade the two games for Bandai's Wonderswan Color, however, the portable system was never released outside of Asia and, as a result, the remakes were confined to Asia as well. The Wonderswan Color games were very similar to their NES counterparts, but received graphical updates.

The PSOne versions of the games will include updated graphics, sounds, and additional events and scenes. In addition, Mode 7 graphics (similar to Final Fantasy V, 3D-esque) will be used while riding the Airship. FMVs in the introduction and ending of the game will be added as well.

Though the two remakes are to be released seperately, Square is also planning to release a compilation of the two games—Final Fantasy I & II Premium Pack, which will include action figures, picture labels, a monster picture book and an art book.

Update: Final Fantasy I & II for PSOne will be released in Japan on October 31, for 3800 yen each. The Final Fantasy I & II Premium Pack is also available for 8800 yen. There is still no word of a release outside of Japan.
