Spooky Scary Forest Levels
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Or not so spooky. Sometimes it just involves trees. But trees can be scary, right? So tall and arrogant. And getting lost can be scary, especially if you're stuck with someone like Amarant or... or Amarant. So in early celebration of Halloween, let's take a look at some (not so) spooky Final Fantasy Forest levels!

Welcome to another edition of This Week In Social Media, now moved to Fridays! Why? Because Fridays are the best days! You're probably slacking off at work right now (don't deny it), and we're here to help you fill that slacker time with various social media stuffs!

Most of you know that Final Fantasy XIV wasn't Square Enix's first MMO. Final Fantasy XI was its predecessor. Most don't know that it is still active and kicking! Even though Final Fantasy: XIV Heavensward is coming out, they haven't forgotten about their most successful Final Fantasy. Square Enix released a new video today showcasing the new May update for Final Fantasy XI.

Director Naoki Yoshida of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn had a birthday earlier this past month. Instead of eating cake and throwing confetti with his friends and family, he's been hard at work making the soon to come expansion Heavensward absolutely perfect.
Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward will be introducing flying mounts to this ever expanding MMO. Expected are traditional flying type mounts but even more exciting is that of the overweight, cake loving, Chocobo variety. In a "leaked" screenshot he provided, we get to see our favorite fat Chocobo trying his darndest to fly, of course with the help of dangling cake.

It was announced today at PAX East that Final Fantasy XIV's new Heavensward expansion is set to release on June 23rd, 2015. Not only is it coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, but Mac users are getting the game, as well. Pre-orders will be available March 16th, and fans who do so will be able to access all the new content four days early.
Heavensward is currently retailed at $39.96. Unfortunately, there is still no news available on how much the previously announced Collector's Edition will cost, so fans who are looking forward to the dragon statue will have to wait just a bit longer.
The Final Fantasy XIV YouTube channel uploaded a new video showcasing Ishgard, Dravania, Coerthas Western Highlands, flying mounts and more! Everything about this video is majestic and 4 million players (and counting) can't wait to get their hands on what Heavensward has to offer. What are you most looking forward to in the new expansion?
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn just hit their 4 millionth member. To celebrate they are opening the weekend up for free! Well to some members that is. If you haven't experienced all that is the Golden Saucer because you are taking a break, then fear not! This campaign will allow anyone who has been away from the game to try some of the new bells and whistles out for free this weekend.

Like most “modern” MMOs, FFXIV is based primarily on the endgame, after the player reaches maximum level, they do dungeons and content in order to get new and better gear to do more dungeons to get better gear and so on and so forth.
While this is a tried and tested formula which can be effectively used to increase a game’s level of content, there is the issue of what to do when a player joins late in the game. Often when a player begins playing an MMO after many updates are passed, there is a massive stretch of new gear to get, dungeons to do and bosses to fight. While this may seem good as there is a large hill of content for players to conquer, it can often leave people feeling alienated, as fellow players in their guild are doing much more advanced dungeons and raids, and don’t have time to guide a newbie through content in which an experienced player has no benefit from.
Items purchasable with Tomestones (Item-Level 120)
In order to combat this, FFXIV seems to streamline the acquisition of medium to high level items through their endgame currency

Square Enix recently revamped their online store with a brand new layout and a ton of new items for sale. One of the biggest stand outs for Final Fantasy XIV fans is the announced Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward Collector's Edition! At the time of posting this article, however, pre-orders are not yet available. Fans of the game currently have the option of being put on an e-mail waiting list and being notified when the collector's edition becomes available for pre-order.
Producer Naoki Yoshida presented the collector's edition at the Final Fantasy XIV Tokyo Fan Festival in 2014. The Heavensward Collector's Edition, set to release Spring 2015, will include:

The first High End Raid confirmed for Heavensward is none other than fan favourite series summon, Alexander. It has been revealed at the TOKYO FAN FESTIVAL that the super summon will be appearing in the up and coming expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Another of my initial Heavensward theories has come true! Alexander will be joining the fray as a raid dungeon. He is said to be so huge that the players must enter inside the fortress to defeat him. Ahhh, this is truly the stuff of dreams right here! What will the inside workings of this living temple be like? What monsters could be hiding out - and just how hard is it going to be to take down one of the most powerful summons in Final Fantasy history? Oh my.
Well...
There will be two difficulty levels!
Normal (approx Second Coil with the current amount of Echo)
Hard (Harder than the current Final Coil)
It's Final Fantasy XIV's TOKYO FAN FESTIVAL right now, and you can bet that Eyes on Final Fantasy will keep you covered with what's going on... So far we've seen some stunning new art work for the three new jobs being added to the Heavensward expansion, and they've finally dropped confimation on the new race too... Ooooh, so very exciting!
The three new jobs are...
Astrologian
The Healer
Weapon of choice? Tarot Cards and a Star Globe
Machinist The DPS
Weapon of choice? Guns and flying turrets
Dark Knight
The Tank
Weapon of choice? Great Sword
I cannot wait to be all over Astrologian when it drops... Oh my sweet lord in heaven look at that gown and hat - so classy! I cannot wait! I'm sure many players will be absolutely spoilt for choice with this, I know a few people who will be all over Machinist and Dark Knight. Duty Finder is going to get so thrilling...
New race...
And just what about that new race we've been waiting for ever since meeting Yugiri? Well I can now show you what it looks like, uncovered by a ninja garb... Say hello to the

The Starlight Celebration returns to the realm on Thursday, and there are a tonne of awesome goodies up for grabs to fill your stockings with! The event will be taking place from December 18th, to December 31st so be sure to log in and take part in the quest. You will find the quest in Old Gridania, at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre - so take a teleport there! You will be looking for an NPC called Xavalien - or, just look around to see where the unruly mob of players is camping out!
The Raven has sent forth a correspondent by the name of Xavalien to ensure this year's Starlight Celebration is a resounding success. Intrigued adventurers should seek him out, and join his crusade to spread the spirit of the season to Eorzea's children.
A new quest will open up each day in the major cities. You must complete the first quest in Old Gridania to proceed. For taking part in the quest you will obtain 'Fallen Stars' which are traded in for some goodies... Which is of course, the most exciting part of the seasonal events. So what's up for grabs this time? Let's see.... SQUEE!
