Nope, I am not talking about Dairy Queen, I am in fact talking about the punny and groan worthy names for the Dragon Quest series. If you're like me, stupid puns probably make you giggle. Square Enix and Sony announced today that Dragon Quest Heroes will release this year in Europe and North America for PlayStation 4. Developed by Dynasty Warriors studio Omega Force, DQ Heroes is being billed as the first full action RPG in the franchise. Dragon Quest X is soon to be released for the Wii U on March 30th in Japan. Hopefully we'll get a stateside representation but as for now a recently released trailer showing off the graphics of the Wii U was shown to fans.
If you don't know much about Dragon Quest X, let me help you there! Dragon Quest X is a MMORPG set in the Dragon Quest Universe. The game was originally released last year for the Wii console but was soon upgraded with updated graphics to the Wii U. Both consoles share servers so regardless of what console you play on, you'll be able to play with your friends.
Unfortunately there isn't any news on a NA or EU release as of yet but there are hopes that this re-release will spark the DQ love again. When it was first released for the Wii, the game only sold roughly 400,000 copies. Compare that to Dragon Quest IX who sold around 5 million world wide, that's really low. Almost a month ago we caught wind of a remake of the seventh installment in the Dragon Quest series. The game was being remade from the ground up, with a complete graphical overhaul. The first screens from this 3DS remake have been released, showcasing the player characters, enemies and locations. And, honestly, they look much better than the original Dragon Warrior VII.
