So about 20 years ago today, FFVI was released in Japan on the Super Famicom. It had the longest development of any FF before it clocking close to a seventeen month difference between it's release and it's predecessors release in 1992. It features the largest playable cast of any numbered FF with a party of 14 distinct characters, only FFTactics has it beat, and Type-0 is tied with it. The game dropped the heavier use of swords and sorcery and instead placed a heavier emphasis on steampunk and technology than any previous FF. Each character sprite averaged 45 different sprite animations and unlike previous FFs, the characters used the same field sprite as they did for battle, allowing VI to feature a more seamless visual transition from story, to exploration, to battles.
The game experimented with different game play features to enhance the players experience including more interactive battle commands like Blitz and Slot, the introduction of puzzle style mini-games in dungeons, a rudimentary RTS mini-game, optional party members to recruit, special playable cinematic events, multi-party dungeons, and even a more open ended second act of the game that allowed the player to freely explore and recruit

I was one of the few lucky US gamers that got introduced to RPGs in the early days of video games. When I first obtained my Nintendo Entertainment System, one of the first games I got was Dragon Warrior. I also remember an ancient version of Dungeons&Dragons for the PC. When I say ancient, I'm talking about my first family's PC without a Windows OS.

These are some moments from Final Fantasy X that have stuck in my head throughout the years. Some encouraging, some sad, all contributing positively to the experience. Who could forget when Tidus was taken away from his fame and nearly eaten by a skeletal fish? Or how about when the group makes their grand appearance from the airship during the wedding scene? There were so many moments to draw the player in, to excite them and make them feel all kinds of emotions. Here, I'm going to share the top 5 moments that stick out for me the most. I hope you enjoy!

This hand of mine glows with an awesome power!
Thief is now available in stores for the PlayStation, Xbox and PC in North America, Europe and Australia. Before even coming out the game has already made headlines for the controversial decision to replace longtime voice actor Stephen Russell with newcomer Romano Orzari because he couldn't do stunts. Thief fans may want to stock up on some vodka.
Square Enix loves Disney characters. Kingdom Hearts is such a popular game and is in fact one of their biggest series – behind Final Fantasy that is. So we’re already used to the crossover worlds of Disney and Final Fantasy. I had a thought recently, it was whilst I was in the middle of my daily Frozen ‘Let It Go’ sing-a-long (seriously, who doesn’t love belting that one out?) I realised that the beautiful Queen Elsa had all the makings of a Final Fantasy heroine, and that she’d feel right at home as a playable character in one of the games.

With the release of FFX/X-2 HD just being a little shy of two weeks away, I thought I'd take a look at the different versions of the game that are being released. As I go through this I'll be trying to decide which version of the game is right for me. Maybe, with any luck, it'll help you decide as well. Let's start with the standard game!

The Final Fantasy series has been no stranger to some weird, wacky, and truly wonderful outfit designs over the years. The characters of Final Fantasy are recognisable by their get-ups, and they’d never really been a changeable feature of the game until Final Fantasy X-2 brought us the Dressphere system.

PHOTO: Newly discovered fossilized chocobo eggs have been found in Nevada.
BULLHEAD CITY, NV--U.S. paleontologists have reportedly unearthed what appears to be none other than fossilized chocobo eggs from an excavation site located deep within in the harsh Nevada desert.
Dr. Odine Leonidas Perrywinkel, lead paleontologist at the excavation site, was quoted as saying, "We anticipate that these eggs will yield a wealth of knowledge of ancient chocobo inhabitants in the area and we hope to uncover much more information about this little-known species. Our discovery expands the known range of prehistoric beasts and may provide a new understanding of life before our time." It could be that Dr. Perrywinkel had more information to offer, but such a thing was difficult to determine between the zany mumblings and noises he emitted, which were clouded in a thick German accent. He then advised that he could not comment further

Have you ever thought "I'm going to dress and act like a Chocobo?" If the answer is yes then Chocolina should be one of your favorite NPCs to have graced the Final Fantasy series. If your answer is no, then you may want to reassess your life's priorities.

You may have noticed that my feature has been absent from the front-site for the last four months. Well believe me, it has been the longest and hardest four months of my life. My journey has taken me to hell and back, literally.
