When I studied psychology in college, my class discussed family dynamics among siblings, middle children were always the more interesting ones to discuss because more than the other children, they have to work harder with differentiating themselves from their fellow siblings. This concept couldn’t be better illustrated by the middle child of the 16-bit era, Final Fantasy V. Like FFIII before it, FFV has a very different reputation within Japan than it does in the West, largely due to the game being released years later abroad than in its home country. Yet, I feel it should say something to the sheer craftsmanship of the game’s overall design that unlike FFIII, which will always be relegated as a relic entry of the series along with its other 8-bit brethren, FFV has actually managed to find its own footing among the fanbase just as a middle child will also find their own identity to separate themselves from their siblings.
FFV begins an interesting and powerful transformative time for Square. This is the last Final Fantasy game Hironobu Sakaguchi personally directed before he moved into the executive producer role for the series. Hiroyuki Ito returned as the battle planner and designer but afterwards would be pushed into the director’s

The North American PSN store is having a Final Fantasy sale on right now. This is your chance to pick up Final Fantasy XV if the normal price tag is a bit too steep, or maybe you want to get some old classics or try some you haven't played before!

Final Fantasy has some great tracks over the years, and while creep and horror are not exactly the first words that come to mind when thinking of Final Fantasy, let alone it's sweeping scores of passion and adventure, the series has had it's fair share of tracks meant to unsettle the player.
To make this more interesting, I plan on taking only one track per game.

Getting a head start on celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Final Fantasy Franchise next year, Square Enix has opened a site dedicated to it at http://www.finalfantasy.jp/30th/. Unfortunately, the site is entirely in Japanese, so unless you plan on brushing up on your Nihongo, then the most you'll get out of it is watching the promo video and listening to the sweet tunes that play in the background. There's no word yet (in English anyway) on what they plan on doing to celebrate the big 3-0, or if they plan on celebrating it world wide (they may wait for the western release anniversary to do that, however, that won't be until 2020).

FF Character Corner - Lenna!
Welcome one and all to the Final Fantasy character corner. What we will be doing here is taking characters from Final Fantasy and finding real world stuff inspired by them. So get out your wallet and your oven mitts and send both of them to me because I like those things! And while you're at it, check out some of this nifty stuff inspired by Final Fantasy V's Lenna, or Reina, whichever you prefer!

You know what RPG series is awesome? Final Fantasy. It's got Fantasy right in the title, and (almost) every entry gives us a new story to engage in, a new world to explore, and new characters to love. However, one thing I have sadly noticed, is that many times the cast of these games tend to center around one or two central characters: Everyone centering around Zidane, Squall, etc, while the rest of the cast, well... they may not always interact that much. Lulu and Auron don't talk that often, Freya and Garnet barely speak, Selphie and Quistis don't have much going on. But Final Fantasy V is different.

Spooky Scary Forest Levels
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Or not so spooky. Sometimes it just involves trees. But trees can be scary, right? So tall and arrogant. And getting lost can be scary, especially if you're stuck with someone like Amarant or... or Amarant. So in early celebration of Halloween, let's take a look at some (not so) spooky Final Fantasy Forest levels!

The beloved wacky installment in the SNES trilogy is making its way to PCs in less than two weeks via Steam! Freshly announced by Square Enix, the Steam version of FFV is a port of the iOS version released earlier, meaning it will have all the extra features added in the GBA release (more jobs, an extra dungeon), as well as enhanced graphics, with sprites redrawn by Kazuko Shibuya - series veteran responsible for creating character sprites throughout the whole series.
On top of that, the game is supposed to have very low system requirements, which means it will be accessible to more players. Furthermore, developers promise FFV will be optimized for peak PC performance.

Many fans who’ve been with the Final Fantasy series from the earliest days consider the 16-bit era “The Golden Age” of Final Fantasy games. The games had a much more fleshed out narrative and more complex characters. Despite how great we remember them, if these games were ever to be remade, these are the things we’d like to improve in each of them.
