OK...I may take it. Im rusty, mind!

Darkness colluding,
A machination of doom.
Four Teutonic beasts of War.

At the base of a memory
of startling aptness,
I block your way,

Darkness colluding- sounds like smoke or some conspiricy
A mechinization of doom- I would say the Mako reactors....
4 tutonic beasts of war- pointing toward shinra in some way
Head on aint no option- Beats me!
At the base of a memory- Like the origin of a memory I think
Of startling aptness- Don't have a clue
I block your way yet reward your passage- this is definately pointing towards some type of monster......

I mean the first line to be 'working together'.
You are right with machine.
Thats why i refer to the teutons - or their modern counterparts. See the 5th and 6th line.
All wrong on the 5th and 6th line, btw.
Yes, it is.

Ozmoid

It's the weapons, isn't it? ther's four(ultima, diamond, ruby and emerald)
They are machine like in appearnace, you crash into ultima, he drops ultima weapon, and ruby and emerald get you master materia and a gold chocbo.
At the base of a memory could refer to the fact that they come out of north crater, where there is an abundance of Lifestream there. The lifestream has a conection to memories in some way, though i may be thinking of ffix's crystal...

Working Together-Infiltrated the Cetra, worked with Sephiroth
A mechinization of doom-It was called the calamity
4 tutonic beasts of war- it has 4 forms, birth, life, death and synthesis
Head on aint no option- Jenova didn't have it's head on it's body
At the base of a memory- Jenova changed it's shape to accord with peoples memories
Of startling aptness- Jenova destroyed the Cetra by impersonating their dead relatives
I block your way yet reward your passage-you have to fight her often, but once you beat it, you get ifrit, wizard braclet reflect ring, and to beat sephiroth
Is it Jenova?

unfairmaiden
08-09-2006, 11:17 PM
There are five weapons actually: Ultima, Ruby, Emerald, Diamond, and Sapphire. Sapphire is the one that attacks Junon and gets its head blown off by the sister ray.

I agree that the answer is Jenova btw

Darkness colluding, They work together
A machination of doom. Plot evilness
Four Teutonic beasts of War. There are four of them (Reno, Rude, Elena, and Tseng)
Head on aint an option. They block your way

At the base of a memory
of startling aptness, Vincent used to be one
I block your way, You have to fight them
yet reward your passage. You get stuff after they run off

Is it the Turks?

Does it have anything to do with the organization SOLDIER? I was just thinking of a lot of Cloud's memories and it seems to me that most of them have something to do with SOLDIER in some manner of speaking.

You wouldnt make it so easy as to be a boss monster would you LN?

Lenna
08-11-2006, 01:23 PM
I think the head on is in reference to back attacks.

Motorball?

Darkness colluding, - It's night-time in midgar when you fight him
A machination of doom. - created to destroy
Four Teutonic beasts of War. - it has 4 parts which you have to destroy
Head on aint an option. - you start off in a back attack situation

At the base of a memory - cloud being in shinra?
of startling aptness,
I block your way, - it's stopping you from continuing your journey out of midgar
yet reward your passage - if you beat him you pass and get reward from it.

Lost Number
08-11-2006, 04:01 PM
Wrong. Its NOT a reference to back attacks - its a reference to a physical characteristic.
Darkness colluding does NOT refer to night time.
Yes, right on second line.
4 parts you have to destroy.
5th and 6th will be quite hard right now...leave them.
Sort of right on lats two lines.

SilverPhoenix42
08-12-2006, 04:39 AM
Is it the Temple of the Ancients or the Black Materia? In a way it is created to destroy, as it summons Meteor, and you can't exactly fight the temple, which is where Cait Sith comes in. However, I'm not sure about how the four parts comes into play.

Lost Number
08-12-2006, 02:58 PM
If you dont know how 4 parts come in, you have the wrong answer! WRONG.

HolyMackeral
08-12-2006, 10:28 PM
Kinda sounds a little like Bizzaro Sephiroth, with all those parts - blocking Holy from coming and saving everyone from Meteor.

But that seems a little too simple.....

G SpOtZ
08-12-2006, 11:05 PM
At first, I was going to say Carry Armor, but he only has 3 parts. T_T

However, now I'm going to guess that it's to do with the 5 pagoda god people that you have to fight with Yuffie.

Darkness colluding, - All members witness each others' fights.

A machination of doom. - The first four intend on defeating Yuffie, and prevent her from reaching the top of the Pagoda.

Four Teutonic beasts of War. - The first four, defending Godo, might be considered beats of ancient origin, and could have helped fight during the War of Wutai.

Head on aint an option. - To get to Godo, you must beat the first four 1 by 1.

At the base of a memory - "base" may refer to the "home" of Godo, as the Pagoda is his to rule, and "memory" may refer to the fact that Godo hasn't fought there in a long time.

of startling aptness, - Yuffie did not know her own father was the 5th god/beast that resided at the top of the Pagoda, but took it in quickly and fought him.

I block your way,

yet reward your passage - Both of these last two lines can refer to the first four individual Pagoda gods, as you are denied access to the next god if you do not beat the previous. Once you do beat one, s/he congratulates you and let's you move on.
It could also refer to Godo himself, as he (in a sense) blocks the reality of Yuffie's strength, and life. Reward may obviously refer to the prizes you recieve after defeating him.

The only thing I'm good at are wild guesses so that's all you're bound to get from me! and here's another one.

G SpOtZ
08-15-2006, 04:25 AM
Maybe you should hold off on wild guesses and actually take the riddle for what it is: a riddle.

You should probably think about it, because it's obviously thought out, and you aren't taking the hints into consideration. Wild guesses won't work this time, unless you guess through every possible answer in the game.

Dragon Mage
08-15-2006, 04:45 AM
Hey, they're not completely wild guesses. I am taking the hints into consideration, it's just that this riddle has me quite confused. If you read my posts at all, you'll notice that I did list some reasons for why I thought such. I can get halfway to answering all the hints but not all of them. Such as, I don't understand how German, Wutai, reactors and the cannon all meet. I just don't. I'm just saying their wild guesses because I can't pull answers for all the hints and have them make sense right out of my ass, okay? So back off.

Thingfish
08-15-2006, 02:18 PM
Wrong. Niebelheim comes from the Danes, I think. Close.

Close indeed. Derived from the name 'Niflheim', that being the realm of the dead in Norse mythology.

Dragon Mage
08-18-2006, 04:04 AM
I didn't mention Wutai first however. G SpOtZ did, as shown in the quote below.

Darkness colluding, - All members witness each others' fights.

A machination of doom. - The first four intend on defeating Yuffie, and prevent her from reaching the top of the Pagoda.

Four Teutonic beasts of War. - The first four, defending Godo, might be considered beats of ancient origin, and could have helped fight during the War of Wutai.

of startling aptness, - Yuffie did not know her own father was the 5th god/beast that resided at the top of the Pagoda, but took it in quickly and fought him.

yet reward your passage - Both of these last two lines can refer to the first four individual Pagoda gods, as you are denied access to the next god if you do not beat the previous. Once you do beat one, s/he congratulates you and let's you move on.
It could also refer to Godo himself, as he (in a sense) blocks the reality of Yuffie's strength, and life. Reward may obviously refer to the prizes you recieve after defeating him.

This is LN's reply to the former post.

Wrong. I can only say the second line is right, and the 1st line is right but not what I meant.

Since LN confirmed that Wutai had something to do with the riddle, I made that as my second guess. However, I was wrong. I went back and looked at the previous posts connected to this riddle. And this is what I found.
LN said a number of times that the second line had something to do with a machine that is created to destroy. However, here he confirms G SpOtZ guessed and says that "A machination of doom" is actually people, not a machine. This does not make sense and I am a little confused. LN, can you please explain? Because this will throw people off when trying to solve this riddle.

08-18-2006, 01:34 PM
Oh, im so sorry!
A machination of doom - a machiene to destroy, and also prevent progress. Understand? Prevent reaching the top of the tower...thats also right. Wrong tower.
The second line...well,
4 enemies is the closest sense there...I think i got first and second line wrong way round. Um. Sorry. Nothing to do with Wutai.

Helios

Thank you for clearing that up LN.

Now allow me sum up what we know.

We're looking for a monster that is a machine with 4 parts or possibly 4 monsters that you have to kill. This monster(s) is preventing you from reaching the top of a tower. When you defeat the monster(s), you gain an item. There is something specifically of German origin here, but not having to do with Niblehiem. 5th and 6th lines are being left out here.

Is this correct? If not please point out what's wrong.

Proud Clod has 2 parts. Him, and the Junon Armour (sp?)

HolyMackeral
08-21-2006, 06:21 AM
So not the pagoda, not the shinra building, not the 'structure thingy' (sister ray) and not fort condor.

The gold saucer could count as a tower I guess, or perhaps the one in Junon but im starting to get the feeling it isnt a literal tower at all.

Lost Number

None of those have been specifically denounced, except the pagoda.

Dragon Mage
08-21-2006, 06:39 PM
I would have to guess the monsters on the train at North Corel.
The Gold Saucer could be considered the tower. The train will destroy the town if you don't save it. On the train are 4 monsters you have to kill, all of which are machines. North Correl itself is the 'base' of a memory for Barret which he clearly remembers very well. If you save the town, you gain the Ultima materia.
It's a strech but that's what I found.

Is it the Vincent sidequest/Shinra mansion? You have four clues and have to fight Missing Number then when you win you get the Odin materia (very teutonic) it blocks your way because you need to solve the riddle and beat the monster to get Vincent and rewards your passage, you get the key to Vincent's room and the chance to recruit an awsome character

thinking about u saying earliewr references to the shinra were correct, and on the 4 teutonics thing, i'm going to say domnio, the mayor of midgar.

he really works for shinra, and requests a word with 4 letters, and gives you a reward for your efforts (the key card and an item if ur lucky)

not sure how this relates to the german thing tho!?

Dragon Mage
09-04-2006, 03:08 AM

Is it in Cosmo canyon in the cave bit, where you fight that big boss at the end and then Find out that Red XIII's father wasn't a coward, but a great hero?

Darkness colluding, ---well.. it was very dark in there.. wasn't it?
A machination of doom. --- that big boss thingy
Four Teutonic beasts of War. ---he had three little floaty yellow things, didn't he? Or was it two... well, maybe the spiders?
Head on aint an option. ---he's blocking the doorway to where Red's father is....

of startling aptness, ---......?
I block your way, ---same as "head on aint an option"

so r u actually looking for 4 answers here? or one answer that links them all

Three passages will lead you - if ur wanting just a name then i'm thinking it begins with "tri" but can't think of an enemy with a name like that
Past the lupine terror - maybe a neibelheim wolf? ir a midgar wolf even?
And the raptor's claws - got me!? maybe materia keeper?
To salvation or damnation - this line still has me stumped, i'm thinking along the lines of victory or defeat (game over) is this right?

ir ur lookin for 1 answer, i'm goin to say Mt. nibel. there are 3 paths around the materia keeper
but none of them actually lead off of the mountain, although u can get some decent stuff (maybe thats the salvation?)

BG-57

so r u actually looking for 4 answers here? or one answer that links them all

Four related answers. If you can solve one, it will help you with the other three.

Three passages will lead you - if ur wanting just a name then i'm thinking it begins with "tri" but can't think of an enemy with a name like that

That line refers to three separate enemies that share the same name.

Past the lupine terror - maybe a neibelheim wolf? ir a midgar wolf even?

It's a wolf, but not Neibelheim or Midgar wolf.

And the raptor's claws - got me!? maybe materia keeper?

Not Materia Keeper. Think of specific raptors.

To salvation or damnation - this line still has me stumped, i'm thinking along the lines of victory or defeat (game over) is this right?

It's a victory or defeat condition, but defeat isn't a game over situation-just a very undesirable outcome.

ir ur lookin for 1 answer, i'm goin to say Mt. nibel. there are 3 paths around the materia keeper
but none of them actually lead off of the mountain, although u can get some decent stuff (maybe thats the salvation?)

It's not Mt. Neibel.

Lenna
09-18-2006, 09:28 PM
Can I ask, the 3 separate enemies with the same name, do they have the same specific name such as "Something, Something Jnr?" or is it specifically 1 name the same for all of them

if that's the case, the three enemies are Grangalan, Grangalan jr and Grangalan jr jr.

A raptor is a carnivor. a bird of prey, that relates to any flying bird/enemie bird shaped thing in ff7 such as sonic speed, cocatolis, epiolnis etc. It's hard to tell which is which without any specific indication as to what we're looking for.

I'm going to say as my official answer "Cloud, Hojo, and Zack" all involved in the Shinra organizations Sephiroth clone experiment.

Hojo conducted the experiment of course.

Cloud vanished when he was 16? to go join soldier. Tifa knew something was up, but wouldn't tell Cloud directly.

Zack vanished 10 years ago from Gongaga, and Aeris knew but wouldn't tell the family.

Other than that, I'm really starting to dig hard and don't know if I could come up with anything else.

I'm not sure if you mean all nine major playable characters, or just the the party memebers at the beginning of the game. I'm also wondering if 'fallen' refers to a fall from grace instead of literal falling.

I'm guessing Vincent.

He's an optional character, hidden away for years, so his fall is largely unknown to most. He has been punishing himself for his perceived sins all this time.

I've seen it listed both ways. Having never gotten one, I simply guessed (I have the U.S. version BTW).

One resides in water
A victim of fire?

Air - Ultima
Earth - Ruby
Water - Emerald

Enjolras
10-08-2006, 05:03 AM
Although i think My-car-is-faster-than-yours' answer is more likely, there is the possibility it could be the vehicles you use in the game.

Air - The Highwind
Earth - The Buggy
Water - The Tiny Bronco or the Sub.
All of them at some point except the buggy are a victim of 'fire', whether fire from an enemy weapon or the blast of the northern cave exploding.

BG-57

It's a battle that cannot be won by pure strength (Too much power, you miss)

The returns can be endless, and ultimately great (You go until you lose)
Or it can be fruitless, only from your hands escaped (You can win nothing)
To earn something big, it's worth a try
For a few hundred big ones, what am I? (Cost 200 gil to try)

Chained to a trivial master
Victim of its own deluge
Take it for granted and it'll be over
Filth is its home and refuge.

This one should be pretty easy.

Aps.

Chained to a trivial master (Don Corneo)
Victim of its own deluge (It's Sewer Tsunami damages it as well)
Take it for granted and it'll be over (It's a boss -- could be a tricky battle)
Filth is its home and refuge. (Lives in the sewers)

Clogger of shores
These provide great protection
However, they won't come willingly
So you'll have to use coercion

It rhymes, but it's probably really easy.

BG-57

Riddle Repost & hints along with it, so we don't have to flip pages, although I think Lost Number is right.

The ultimate act of spite (kamikaze)
From an abominable foe (A-bomb-inable, bad pun)
For pyrrhic victories (Huge damage to your party member)
Look no further

Hint: The answer is in this post, although not in the text.

If anyone else besides me finds this awful, I apologise in advance.

Remember us? Soldiers are we,
Though we die quite easily.
We'll never, ever look the same,
We're waiting to play that grand game.
We stand at the king's gates,
Take us to the palace, we'll be great.
