Amidst the flood of good news provided by Square Enix in the last couple of days, the video game goliath mixed things up with the announcement of a much less positive piece of information - Yasumi Matsuno, long time Square employee, has decided to give up his position as Producer on the much anticipated Final Fantasy XII due out in the first quarter of 2006. Taking his place will be Akitoshi Kawazu, esteemed director of the SaGa series of games.
Matsuno has said complications with his health is the reason for his decision, and Square Enix made a statement saying that Matsuno has indeed been been under the weather for some time now. This announcement is likely the result of rumors flying around since before E3 regarding Matsuno's absence. The good news is that Matsuno will stay onboard as a supervisor for the FFXII project. We hope he gets well soon.
