• JUMP For Joy! (Bad Puns R Us)

With the JUMP Festa just five days away, Square Enix is pulling out all the stops to make sure Final Fantasy has a strong presence at this year's event.  Hot on the heels of the exciting news about the Nintendo DS title Ring of Fates, Square has let slip some new information regarding their other two surefire portable hits, Revenant Wings and Crisis Core.

The latest issue of Famitsu reports that Revenant Wings takes place above Ivalice in a place called Remless, a floating island chain far above the locations familiar to FFXII enthusiasts.  The island chain is inhabited by a race of Eagle Humes, who apparently live relatively short lives of approximately 40 years.  One of these Eagles, a young soldier by the name of Lluyd, meets Vaan and Penelo on their adventure.

Apparently the game will use the second screen to display additional data, as there will be too much to cram onto one screen.  Gamers will also purportedly be able to switch the screens between top and bottom, and it will be interesting to see how this feature works with the touch-screen interface.

Unfortunately, Revenant Wings will not be playable at JUMP Festa, but a new trailer is a likely bet.

Unlike the Final Fantasy XII sequel, however, Square Enix's long-in-development FFVII prequel Crisis Core WILL be playable for the first time at this year's JUMP Festa!  We'll finally get a look at just how Crisis Core is shaping up.  Even better, Square Enix producer Tetsuya Nomura stated that a demo of Crisis Core will hopefully be available by the end of the year, though no details as to the demo's availability, such as the regions in which it will be obtainable, were announced.
