It is mentioned a bit later in the game. (SPOILER)When Seymour is outed as a villain, I believe he admits to setting it all up. Fortunately for him, Yuna is a dunce & didn't unleash her aeons to attack the hordes of beasts. I guess she was too busy practicing her whistling.

This time on Final Fantasy X HD Remaster: the gang, fresh from the woes of the Tidus laugh, jaunt merrily down the Mi'ihen Highroad. Along the way, they find a wise scholar who regales to them the story of the Crusaders, while he quivers with fear. Then, the party are ambushed by a horde of savage beasts that attack travellers on the highroad, delaying the journey of the group. After much toil, the team arrive at a rest area run by the Al Bhed, where they can regain their strength! Also we make some jokes and have some good banter and stuff.

In this episode, we learn some more about the history of Spira, the reason Sin exists, and how we destroy the monster. Lots of interesting lore! More importantly though, we save some chocobos from an untimely demise. Gotta save those birds.

We are currently travelling a part of the Mi'ihen Highroad called the Newroad. Naturally, that suggests that there is, or was, an Oldroad. The road that runs below this Newroad is the original Mi'ihen Highroad. Hence, the road that Lord Mi'ihen walked is not this road, but the Oldroad. The Newroad was built to replace the Oldroad destroyed by Sin five hundred years ago. But sometimes, standing on the Oldroad and reminiscing about the past can be a pleasurable pastime.

It is not a trap, There has never been another character in any video game where a female main character has been called Elena. not one.
