With the multiple versions of Final Fantasy II out there, several of the bosses have different names in each one. As such, the boss names here follow a format:
NES Name / GBA (Dawn of Souls) Name
Sargeant / Sergeant |
|
140 |
5 |
None |
200 Gil, Mithril Axe, Mithril Helm, Mithril Armor, Mithril Bow |
Have your fighters attack, while anyone who has it should open with ice. Have Mihn use safe and then dispel. After that use two curers and two attackers. |
Adamanti / Adamantoise |
|
450 |
0 |
Ice |
500 Gil |
Blast him with Ice attacks and make sure to keep your HP up. |
Borgan / Borghen |
|
240 |
20 |
None |
400 Gil |
A joke. Attack and tear him a new one |
R. Soul / Shrieker |
|
540 |
35 |
None |
100 Gil |
Really hard. All elemental magic heals him, and he casts level 8 magic on you. Keep your HP up and attack. After 4 turns he runs out of MP and physically attacks you. If you make it this far, you can win buy chiping away at him. |
Chimera (x3) |
|
640 |
80 |
None |
600 Gil |
Kind of hard, but like a wimpy version of R. Soul. Concentrate on one at a time with physical attacks, while keeping your HP up. |
Q. Lamia / Lamia Queen |
|
1290 |
370 |
None |
10000 Gil |
A real tough fight beacuse of her charm spell. Basically, hope she doesn't charm a strong attacker as magic does next to nothing to her. Try to keep your HP up, and fight with your remaining attackers. |
Behemoth |
|
1620 |
0 |
None |
0 Gil |
Magic is useless against him, so go hand to hand. If you've been keeping up with your stats you should win this brawl easily. |
Gotus / Gottos |
|
2000 |
80 |
None |
2000 Gil |
Could be hard or easy. If he uses drink and haste, watch out as he could kill a character in one hit. Otherwise, just use the standard attack and heal strategy. |
BigHorn / Gigan Rhino |
|
1140 |
0 |
None |
1000 Gil |
Attack while keeping your HP up. Notice a pattern yet? |
Worm / Barrel Worm |
|
2000 |
0 |
None |
2000 Gil |
I'm not going to write it out. Guess what you need to do here. |
F. Gigas / Fire Gigas |
|
1800 |
240 |
Ice |
Flame Sword, Flame Armor |
If you have a high level Ice spell use it. Otherwise you have to go hand to hand. Persevere for 3-4 rounds and you should end up on top. |
I. Gigas / Ice Gigas |
|
2000 |
240 |
Fire |
1000 Gil |
Blast him with fire, or go hand to hand like with the Fire Gigas. |
T. Gigas / Thunder Gigas |
|
2500 |
370 |
Aero |
1000 Gil |
The hardest Gigas. Use Aero or the Evil Cane to het some sort of an advantage. If the spells connect it should do massive damage and you can finish him easily. |
Dragon / White Dragon |
|
2500 |
140 |
Fire |
10000 Gil |
If your stats are high, not too tough. Use Ice attacks and then shift to hand to hand. |
General |
|
1800 |
0 |
None |
2000 Gil, Diamond Gauntlet, Rune Axe |
Too simple at this point in the game. He can't kill you before you kill him. |
G. Dragon / Green Dragon |
|
3000 |
190 |
Bolt |
10000 Gil, Fang |
Much tougher than the last Dragon. Use bolt if you have it, as his physical defense is real tough. You need one designated healer every turn to counteract his damage as he does a lot and you do little. |
Emperor, Corpse (x2) / Royal Guard (x2), Golem / Wood Golem |
|
1290 |
190 |
None |
None |
Take out the corpses and Golem first, as they pose a serious threat to your party. Keep healing to counteract their great strength. With them gone, the Emperor is a sissy, and he goes down easily. |
Shade / Fallen Emperor |
|
3000 |
240 |
Cure |
None |
Use cure or the Rune Axe. Watch out for his death spell though. |
B. Dragon / Blue Dragon |
|
3500 |
240 |
Poison |
10000 Gil, Dragon Armor, Holy Javelin, Fang |
A concievebly tough boss, however, you should be strong enough to finish him in a couple of turns, negating any threat he might have been. |
Mega Behemoth / King Behemoth |
|
5000 |
0 |
None |
0 Gil, Yoichi Bow, Power Gauntlet, Power Armor, Spiral Helmet |
He has a real weak physical defense, so you should have no problem hacking him to pieces. |
R. Dragon / Red Dragon |
|
5000 |
450 |
Ice |
10000 Gil, Dragon Shield, Holy Javelin, Shoes, Dragon Armor |
The toughest dragon in the game. Ice magic works here, but you want to conserve MP, so use Ice related items while attacking. He should go down after a while, however without too much trouble. |
Z. Borgan / Zombie Borghen |
|
2500 |
370 |
Fire, Cure |
2000 Gil |
Still wimpy. Use the Masamune to haste the party, and then tear him a second new one. |
Tiamat |
|
5000 |
450 |
None |
10000 Gil |
All elemental magic heals him. So, you should haste your guys with the Masamune, and then let loose with attacks. Be sure to keep curing to recover from his strong magic. |
Satan / Beelzebub |
|
5000 |
450 |
None |
10000 Gil |
Attack quickly. Try to kill him before he gives you too many bad status effects, or it will be real hard to win. |
Asteroth / Astaroth |
|
7000 |
540 |
None |
10000 Gil |
A hard fight indeed. Use the Masamune, and cast Ultima. Then attack, alternating between healing and casting Ultima. Hopefully Astertoth wont hit you too hard, and you'll win. |
Emperor |
|
10000 |
999 |
Blood Sword |
None |
If you have blood swords, just attack, you should kill him really quickly (1 or 2 turns). If not, use haste with the Masamune and Berserk with Yoichi's bow to boost attack power, heal up if necessary, and then let him have it, watching your HP. |
