For the second straight year, Square Enix will showcase Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children at the Venice Film Festival in the digital movie category. Unlike its previous showing, however, the completed film will be displayed instead of the edited version of last year's festival. The event begins on August 31st and continues until the 10th of September, which means that it may be at Venice that the movie's creators choose to show the completed film to the public for the first time.
Square Enix has plans to release the film on the UMD disc playable by Sony's Playstation Portable (PSP) handheld, in addition to the standard DVD format. The official release date still lies on September 14 in Japan, and prices for both the UMD and DVD versions are listed as 4,800 Yen (roughly $43 US), while the limited Special Edition DVD will cost fans an astounding 29,500 Yen (roughly $275 US).
