Hello! During the weekend, we've just gone through our Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ciddies ceremony on the forums, and throughout the event, we've had quite the number of fan arts created solely for the event! Loony BoB was gracious enough to collect the art for the Ciddies and through BoB, we managed to have a dozen selected for this week's Final Fantasy Ciddies Fan Art Showcase special! I've also managed to gather our Award mascots to give their unique comments for several of their favorite pieces. Who knows what crazy thing they may say!

Final Fantasy IV has been seeing a bit of a resurgence lately! The EoFF classic Ah, The Power of Cheese! is being reborn, Sephex has been livestreaming his playthrough with EoFFers, and an iOS and Android port have been announced!


With all of this excitement, what better time to add a little piece of Final Fantasy IV artwork to your collection? This quite phenomenal piece - pictured below - was painted by one John Moriarty, depicting Edge, Rosa, Cecil, Rydia and Kain facing off against Demon Wall.

Getting back into the thick of things can be hard to do. Having to readjust to the old schedule, and then sticking to it. That's the problem with having a week break, and hopefully we won't encounter another break. Final Fantasy is a diverse series. Each game has its own fans, its own flavour, its own strengths. If there was ever going to be a single, uniting factor though, the soundtracks to Final Fantasy are definitely it. You could listen exclusively to video game tracks or you might throw them on to relax or even to rock out with some nostalgia, but no matter the reason, the FF music is something memorable.

One group of FF fans have combined their passion for music and passion for FF into something great: a Square-Enix tribute band called The World Is Square. The Boston five-piece have put out their first tribute album - No Phoenix Down Can Save You Now - and have been playing live shows all over the place, so you just know they're good.


I had a quick chat with them to find out a little bit more about how the band came to be, what makes them tick and some other quirky facts along the way!

Q: What came first: a love of music or a love of Final Fantasy?
Lauren: Definitely a love of music. We all have pretty varied tastes in music, I'd say music was our all around first passion.

Q: What were the first FFs you guys played?
Josh: The first ones I played were FFVII & Tactics.
Dave: I love Tactics, but mine was FFVI.
Lauren: FFIX, I still love ...

The team over at TheLifestream.net have been very busy preparing something very special. Going by the screen name Pixel both at TheLifestream.net and here at our very own EoFF, one dedicated FF enthusiast Joseph Knight has assembled a team and created audio book versions of the On the Way To a Smile short stories that bridged the gap between Final Fantasy VII's finale and Advent Children's opening act.

You can check out "The Case of Tifa" here, free for download, along with the other short stories. If you've got a long commute to work, this is the perfect way to pass the time. Let your inner FF nerd out a little!

I chatted with Joseph a little just to find out what kind of FF fan he really is.


Q: What got you into Final Fantasy in the first place? Do you love the stories?
JK: FF7 was my first, so it has always had a special place in my heart. These stories [On the Way to a Smile] added so much more to the characters we all love, even more than we saw in the original game or Advent ...
