Following the release of the images of the location called 'The Dead Dunes' Square Enix have also released images of some of the shops and inns in the game. Shops are an important staple in Final Fantasy, with players being able to buy and upgrade their weapons there, and also to buy those all-important potions and Phoenix Downs. ...

Good morning everyone! For those who don't know, I've been an onsite reporter at PAX East this weekend! This post will be a quick preview of much, much more to come! So hold onto your hats and let's get going!


At PAX got some time with some hands on and hands off demos. These include the newly rebooted Tomb Raider, the just announced Deus Ex: Directors Cut, Square Enix's new MMO-FPS-Strategy Hybrid Heroes and Generals, and who could forget Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMIX! My time with Tomb Raider was limited it mainly consisted of me sneaking up on some unsuspecting Deer with my bow. For more information on that game I recommend continuing to read Locky's various reviews. However with the rest of the lineup I did get some quality time with each of the games and I will have respective articles on my time with each!

Square Enix have unveiled the official PAX East trailer for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX showing off various aspects of all 3 parts in glorious YouTube HD!

In the event that you haven't yet found the light and are still lumbering around in the realm of darkess, let's bring you up to speed. Slated for a Fall 2013 release in western territories the title features full HD remasterings of Kingdom Hearts FINAL MIX, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories and cinematic scenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. How's that for a mouthful?

Unless you happen to celebrate your birthday on March 21st it may seem like any other day of the year to you. But, did you know that it's actually the birthday of one of the most famous names attributed to the Final Fantasy franchise? The man responsible for composing countless hours of moving scores and invoking melodies. That's right; today is the birthday of Nobuo Uematsu! He's still young at age 54.

For this very special edition of Eyes on Final Fantasy Soundtracks let us take a trip down memory lane and reflect on Nobuo Uematsu's life so far.

A few years ago Square-Enix teased a remake of Final Fantasy V. They have no just released the first screenshots of the this game...


The game is apparently going to be a graphical remake of FFV Advance but using a graphical style closer to Final Fantasy Dimensions. Not much else has been released concerning any other new content but the GBA port of FFV did introduce four new job classes and a new super dungeon. The game still uses redrawn Amano character portraits to show who is talking in dialogue sequence.


The game is slated for the end of March for iOS and Android in the summer. Eyeson will have all of your coverage for this remake of a timeless class. Until then, enjoy one last screenshot!

Hello readers! Perhaps by this point you were already pretty geared up for the HD release of Final Fantasy X? Now there's even more swirling in the rumor mill to get excited about.



Rumors have been churning that Final Fantasy X-2 will be included in the same disk as the FFX HD title. This rumor has seemingly been confirmed by a screenshot of Jump Magazine. This exciting news states that the game will also be available on the Vita, on a different cartridge.


Although there is still no official release date for this game, it is good to hear information continue to trickle out after months of silence. This is the first mention of the X-2 being included in the remake! Could this last bit of information be the precursor to an official announcement on the game? Time will tell! Until then discuss if this affects your view on purchasing the FFX HD bundle on our forums!

The beta for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has now been out for a couple of weeks, and the lovable producer Naoki Yoshida has released his forty-fourth Letter from the Producer to give us some new info.

First, Yoshi-P apologizes to the beta testers for sever congestion problems. FFXIV apparently now has 100,000 testers, and there have been server load issues that needed fixing, and are still being adjusted. Is it just me, or does 100,000 sound like a lot? And this is just phase 1! ...

Welcome back to the Final Fantasy Sexism series, after a bit over a month off. When we last left off, I went over the beginning of the PS1 era with Final Fantasy VII and VIII, which saw a return to the emphasis on gender roles and sexist stereotypes after the temporary improvement of Final Fantasy VI. This part will focus on the end of the PS1 era and the beginning of the PS2 games: Final Fantasys IX and X.

Remember the Bechdel Test that I referenced in Part I? The purpose of it is to criticize the use and depth of female characters in film; too often women’s roles are minimized as they revolve around more central, male characters. That principle, if not the exact test itself, can also be applied to video games, and FFIX and X are classic examples of otherwise strong female leads being minimized to fit into the classic role of love interest for the true main character. ...

To kick-start this week, Square-Enix have released some images of a location in their upcoming epic Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. The location has been revealed as being called the Dead Dunes, which does a good job of conjuring up all kinds of imagery.
