• Square Enix's 'Bravely Default' to come to US and Europe

On April 17th, Nintendo announced that 3DS hit, Bravely Default - Flying Fairy would be swooping on over to the US and Europe for a release later this year. This little RPG has been immensely popular in Japan following it's 2012 release, having sold well over 300,000 copies. One can only hope it will have a similar success overseas too.

The game takes place in the land of light and shadow - Luxendarc (sounds a little bit like 'light and dark' right?) There are many other countries in this world, like Gardisra, a scenic country and Lakrika the land of wind. Follow Agnes, Tiz, Edea, and Ringabell as they travel the world - each on their own personal journey and joined together by fate. This game has been hailed as a true Final Fantasy, just without the name of course.

Bravely Default has a unique battle system, one in which players can opt to skip a turn to collect battle points. These battle points will then allow the player to use "Brave" an attack which deals several stronger attacks once they've been stored up. Also similarly to Final Fantasy, the game requires you to assign a job class to your characters. Included in the options are Black Mage, White Mage, Monk, Ninja, Chemist, and Thief. As well as jobs from Final Fantasy, Bravely Default has some unique ones of its own such as Superstar, Vampire, Devout, and Valkyrie (pictured below).

This game looks like a whole tonne of fun for fans of the RPG genre. It is a whole host of chibi, fantasy, 3D fun! With a rich world, beautiful art, and an apparent 60-70 hours of gameplay. You'd be a fool not to pick this up when it is released. I for one wish I had a 3DS to join in on this action!

Eh...the battle system doesn't sound "unique". It sounds like FF:4HoL, which was fun but frustrating after a while. Not gonna lie though, I'm still excited.

Apparently this one acts almost as a sequel to that!

I think this is the first article I've read where the readers are threatened with being called fools.

Yeah it does sound like a spiritual sequel to 4HoL. I liked 4HoL but it had its flaws. This game sounds pretty fun though and I'm glad it will get a release here.

Hmm, this interests me. I may buy it for my cousin so I can borrow his 3DS and play it.

This game echoes shades of Final Fantasy III DS, with its classic FF feel, Akihido Yoshida artwork, and that it pretty much sealed the deal that I'd be buying Nintendo's current handheld in anticipation of it.

I'm really excited to play it and thankful that they brought it over!

Dream Drop Distance and now Bravely Default.

I give them points for being creative and unique though.

Square Enix does not seem to pander towards Western audiences when they choose the name for some of their games. Bravely Default and Dream Drop Distance sound like they might be perceived as fairly fashionable if you don't speak English at all. Dream Drop Distance at least has some alliteration.

The name is a little strange, but I like the graphics so I'm probably going to pick it up when I buy a 3DS.

I still don't comprehend what madness would compel someone to title a game 358/2

I assumed it was trying to create a name that cleverly sounds like Final Fantasy.
