Cecil Harvey | ||
Job: Dark Knight (Black Knight) Job: Paladin |
||
Skills: ! Dark Wave (Dark Knight) Cover (Paladin) White (Paladin) |
||
Cecil Harvey has many faces. He was assigned the mission to Mysidia, to capture the crystal. He was raised by the king, (with his best friend, Kain) who taught him how to use the dark sword. However, he doesn't know why the king bothered from stealing in the first place. When he brought it up, the king got angry with him, and took his position away from him. He then made Kain go with Cecil to the Village of Mist, to deliver a package. Cecil is the BEST fighter in the game. Even though he has small knowledge in White Magic, you'll be attacking constantly with this guy. Not only is he a great party member... but he is required, so you don't have much of a choice. :). |
Kain Highwind | ||
Job: Dragoon | ||
Skills: Jump |
||
Suddenly, Dragoons are popular. The newest Final Fantasy, IX, has one (Freya), however, it's not a new concept. While Kain isn't the first Dragoon, he's one of the coolest. Kain, Cecil's best friend, grew up in the palace as well. He was urged to take up the Dark Sword, but instead followed his father's occupation: the Dragon Knight. As a character, he seems to want to join Cecil on his rebellion, but he's easily swayed, and many times questions his own loyalty. He also seems to care for Rosa, which creates a love triangle to the greatest proportion. In battle, though, there is no one you'd rather have. His 'Jump' technique boosts him in the air, and coming down a turn later for a lot of damage. He's a great addition to any team. |
Rosa Farrel | ||
Job: White Wizard | ||
Skills: ! Pray White Aim |
||
Final Fantasy IV was made before RPG Female leads were 'tough, courageous people'. In fact, she doesn't fit into that description at all. She's weak, a coward, and has the ability (and flaunts it) to say 'Oh, save me Cecil!'. However, she is good, but only because she is a White Mage. She has some real nice defense skills (this was before time mages, mind you, so white mages had to do all the work) like Cure, Antidote, Haste... you name it! She goes to and from the group (when she is gone she mostly needs your help). Rosa is one of those characters that are in your team because you don't have a choice. Mebbe I'm just being a bit mean, though... I never really liked her. :). |
Cid Pollendina | ||
Job: Engineer | ||
Skills: Peep/Scan |
||
Cid has known Cecil for a long time. He has created the Red Wings, and he likes to dismantle machines and modify them. However, he gets in trouble for not following the rules every once in awhile, and likes to tell high officials EXACTLY what he thinks of something. His daughter normally needs to bail him out. He also can get somewhat... salty... he likes to swear and be a jerk (What? Who the hell are you?) In battle, he is kinda crappy, only able to see other monsters HP/Weakness. This can be good, but makes him next to nothing in Boss Fights. Ah, well... he has a pretty cool weapon. |
Rydia of Mist | ||
Job: Caller (Summoner)
Skills: Call (Summon) Black White |
||
Rydia, caller of Mist, is one of the most mature people of her age. Daring and resourceful, she doesn't pack much of a punch... except for one thing... summoning. She has the power to call monsters from the Land of Summoned Monsters, making her almost indespenible to the team. Every Caller has a monster that they relate with. If this monster dies... the Summoner dies too. Rydia's mother, unfortunately, died when her dragon was attacked and killed. Cecil took her in and protected her. In turn, Rydia became part of the team. With her small knowledge in Black Magic and even smaller knowledge in White Magic, she can really decide the outcome of a battle. |
Tellah | ||
Job: Sage | ||
Skills: Black White ! Remember |
||
Tellah is looking for his daughter, Anna, who eloped with a bard that he didn't approve of. Cecil finds him in the waterworks of Kaipo, searching. When he sees him, he begs Cecil to help his cause and go to Damcyan, where he figures his daughter is. In battle, Tellah is the perfect magic user. A White and Black Mage all in one, he used to be able to cast every spell (except for the legendary Meteo), but, unfortunately, his age has worn him down to where the once great mage can cast very little magic. However, when he uses the skill 'Remember', he can try to cast a spell once forgotten. His spells make him incredibly potent. |
Edward Chris von Muir | ||
Job: Bard | ||
Skills: Sing Hide ! Medicine |
||
Edward, the prince of Damcyan, elopes with Anna when Tellah refuses the marriage. In the end, though, he leaves her to help out Cecil. He has a lot of problems... he's very weak and cries often (making Rydia, the SEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL, telling him to shut up.) In battle, he is somewhat... less... then weak. His attack power sucks, and he seems to want to 'hide' from battle a lot. However, he can help in battles by singing. Singing either charms or silences the enemy, but it doesn't always work, and makes him useless in battle. He can use Medicine by taking a Cure1 Potion and splitting up among everyone. That kinda sucks, since the amount given is so miniscule it won't help. Plus, it uses up a perfectly good potion. But... c'mon... who can refuse a poor coward? |
Yang Fang Leiden | ||
Job: Monk | ||
Skills: Kick ! Endure ! Build |
||
Yang is pretty cool. He joins your group after an attack of his country, Fabul, is made. He is a very good fighter, preferring the fists or claws over the sword, and is very disciplined and mild mannered. He has a happy wife (she doesn't have a name) and has been protecting Fabul for years. He is one of the last of his kind, though - many Monks are gone. In battle, he basically attacks. Yup. Attacks. Unless you got the HardType version, in which he can do two other things (very good, I might add) - Endurance and Build. Endurance is basically the Monk way of casting Protect = halves all physical attacks. Build makes him not do anything until the next turn, in which he lets it all out at once. Personally, Build isn't all that great. Waiting for two turns would allow you to attack twice ANYWAY...might as well do it in two short bursts then all at once. It doesn't matter all that much. He's still pretty cool. |
Palom & Porom | ||
Job: Black Wizard; White Wizard
Skills:
|
||
Palom and his older sister (but only by a few minutes!), Porom, make up the twins. They were raised by the Mysidian wizard and have each taken part in learning a certain form of magic (Palom studies Black Magic, Porom studies White). The two are inseparable, yet very different. Palom is a smart ass, swearing and constantly making jokes (and pretty dirty ones for a 10 year old). Porom, on the other hand, is the extreme opposite - calm, cool, and ALWAYS keeping her manners. Sometimes, she has to keep her brother in line... she occasionally pops him on the head. The two in battle work together. They both know little of their magic when they join, but it grows as time goes on. Palom can use 'Boast', which makes him get better magic power, and Porom can use 'False Tears', which allows the party to escape from battle easier. However, when they work together, they are a force to be reckoned with. To use 'Twin', both of them must be ready and able to fight. They then take a LONG time casting a spell together, but the wait is well worth it. It can go up for 800+ HP! QUITE nice characters... and nice comic relief, too! |
Edge Geraldine | ||
Job: Ninja | ||
Skills: Ninja Magic Throw |
||
Edge is a perv. There. I said it. He likes every woman he sees, but has taking a liking to a certain someone (no spoilers, of course). His kingdom was destroyed and his mother and father are missing. He has something against Rubicant... Edge thinks Rubicant killed his parents. He's dashing, charming, all that good prince stuff. In battle, though, he seems to be ONE OF THE BEST CHARACTERS. He can use Ninja Magic, which is quite good. He has different elemental magics, and has ones that are now stereotypical Ninja stuff, making him hard to hit, and the like. He also can throw items...you can buy items for him to throw, but he's best throwing major, unused weapons... QUITE good. Lemme put it this way: EDGE IS YOUR GOD. Bow down! |
FuSoYa | ||
Job: Sage | ||
Skills: White Black |
||
You know what? He's a spoiler. In every sense of the word. There is absolutely NOTHING I could share... don't worry, he's good. :). |
