Ellaria Sand cast: 'Game of Thrones' casts 'Rome' actress for season 4 | Inside TV | EW.com (http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/07/25/game-of-thrones-rome-actress/)

Could be the lighting, but she looks waaay too old to be Ellaria.

I liked this actress in Luther and her 2-3 eps in Torchwood, so I'm supportive of her being in the show. I don't remember how old Ellaria is supposed to be, though.
Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed for BenWeiss to not smurf up Arianne's casting.
I think she's supposed to be in her early 30s. This actress looks like she's in her mid 40s.

It seems that she turned 40 a few months ago. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indira_Varma)

Eh, I'll see how she acts the role before I make any other judgments. :D She's bound to be better than Emilia Clarke, at least.

talking about dogs.. do you think Arya and Nymeria (her direwolf she chased away to save) will ever be reunited?
This is seriously the only thing I care about in this show's end game.
What about Gendry? Arya has to grow up to be a super badass assassin and reunite with Nymeria and then they run into Gendry and he's like "Hey let's life happily ever after!" and then they do.

Ellaria Sand is absolutely perfectly cast in my eyes. I know the actress too.
Ellaria Sand's age is never mentioned but it stands to reason she'd be late 30s, early 40s.

Nope. No Acorn Hall. D:
Man, the embroidery is crazy. It makes the costumes ten times more amazing and the characters look ten times richer than they already are, somehow.
Always thought Catelyn's collar looked gross and like it was falling apart. I didn't realize it was embroidery that was making it textured, not the ravages of travel and war and wearing the same outfit for 2 years.

Book Description
He is handsome and a once powerful looking man, but has since turned to fat. He has curly brown hair and cuts his beard into a triangular shape that has white spots within it.
He is a prematurely old and tedious man lacking in political savvy. His sole military accomplishment was the Siege of Storm's End. Though he has tried to use the Battle of Ashford as evidence of strategic brilliance, he actually had little to do with the fighting as the battle was won by his vanguard, led by Randyll Tarly, before his main force entered the field.

Now that I finally got to watch all of season 2 and seen all the different detials added and changes, I'm more comfortable with how the story is going, to some degree. Disappointed with the battle at the Blackwater Bay, but budget must have been the reason it was kept so short.

Great link. This bit about Tommen's re-casting is simply hilarious:
Dean-Charles Chapman is a young British actor who recently had his big break appearing in four episodes of The White Queen as Richard Grey. Before that he played the doomed role of Martyn Lannister on, erm, Game of Thrones. Confusingly, Chapman has been re-recruited to play the role of Tommen Lannister, replacing Callum Wharry who played the role in the first two seasons (most noticeably in the episode Blackwater).
I know Martyn Lannister was a incredibly small role, but it's pretty funny. It's like recycling actors.

That's pretty interesting. It seems a certain big event is going to happen early and the Lords Declarant arc will be happening soon; I don't see them introducing all those characters in the last episode if the second big big jaw-dropping event of ASoS is the penultimate episode. So this season should cover a good deal of Feast.
George better keep writing. They could overtake him by 2015 at this rate.
I think he'll probably be okay for The Winds of Winter, but he is most certainly screwed for A Dream of Spring.

So there's rumors of telltale games working on a Game of Thrones game. Telltale recently said they are excited about their "dream IP" but haven't confirmed.
If you haven't played The Walking Dead game by telltale, do it. It's amazing. Easily one of the best games in this past generations. Not a Zombie fan? Try their new Wolf Among Us. It's based on the fables comic book that interacts with fables, like the big bad wolf(for which it gets its name), in modern NYC. Telltale games are released in episodic portions and focus heavily on character development and player choices. So your interactions willc arry and effect each new installment. They are awesome. Play them.
I hope GoT is part of telltale's line up because with all the shitty GoT themed games, telltale would do it justice. The only reservation i have is the art style may not work well with the GoT lore. But it worked for zombies so what the heck!

THE WOLF AMONG US IS FANTASTIC
The artwork got even better with The Wolf Among Us from Walking Dead. The animation is what interested me in the first place.
Tell-Tale Games seem to like to work off of new storylines rather than ones they are based on, more like they use the universe and some characters to make a game out of it. From what I'm aware of, TWAU is based on the universe of Fables, but it's more of an "after the fact" story from the comics. TWD is similar - same universe and some characters, different storyline than the show (and comics, I think). This would be interesting with Game of Thrones because there's so much to work with.
I will totally play any and all Tell-Tale Games, especially a GoT one.

I see so many things to get all kinds of excited over.
I hope they keep all the dialogue in The Viper vs The Mountain, I'm very excited to see Sansa leave King's Landing, and obviously I can't wait to see Joffrey die. I hope they're able to convey the emotions the way they were in the book--in that moment, he's just a boy dying in his mother's arms. I wonder if they'll get to Lady Stoneheart. That part made me gasp when I read it.

Oh my gaaaaahd.
My favorite quotes of the trailer:
"They know I won the war."
"The war's not won."
"They have a choice, they can live in my new world or die in their old one." (not much of a choice)
"It's tempting to see your enemies as evil. But there's good and evil on both sides in every war ever fought."
"If you want justice you've come to the wrong place."
That last quote and Arya's, "Anyone can be killed," line from Season 2 sums up the series so damn well it's not even funny.

I didn't realize so many people hated Catelyn and Sansa. I was always indifferent to the two. Regarding Sansa now all I feel is pity. And a strong need to punch things... But I always want to punch things in King's Landing.
Psychotic
02-12-2014, 07:26 AM
Yeah I think Sansa gets a lot of unfair hate. She was just a starry eyed child who didn't know any better and now she's trapped in a nightmarish situation.
Catelyn though, ehhhhhfffff. I don't know. I feel an incredible amount of pity for her given what she had to witness, all the people she loved dying one by one. That's horrible and I guess grief does terrible things... but she was still kind of a bitch before then. I'll forgive her the day she forgives Jon Snow :colbert: Game of Thrones needs ghosts. Force ghosts. Ghost King Robert wrecking trout with a spectral warhammer would be incredible. I'm just sayin'.

Kalevala
02-12-2014, 12:18 PM
I think the hate for Sansa comes from people's frustration with her. She's a romantic/idealist character in a world that is anything but those two things. If we were dumped in Westeros most of us would act quite similarly to her (I know I would), but because we exist outside of their universe as spectators it's easier for us to pass judgement. We want her to do well, and we know what is necessary for her to succeed, but she isn't doing those things.
Stay strong, show-watchers. It gets better.
Getting dumped in Westeros would be awful. You'd have to take a trout in the bushes. Smurf that.

2 of my favorites honestly. I just admire how Cat continues on serving others regardless of how much she's been through, she's afforded no time to grieve or mourn. Martin hits home how criminally under appreciated our matriarchs are in our own lives.
I guess a lot of people dislike Sansa because she ratted out Ned and got her entire household in the capital killed. She was kind of a brat in the beginning. But she has the most profound tragedy IMO. Most other characters still have their core values and belief systems driving them forward but Sansa watches as everything she believes in gets destroyed. So much so that she fears hope at many points. It's fascinating to wonder what kind of woman is going to emerge from the wreckage.

Not to mention that scene isn't in the books whatsoever. It was a lovely surprise.
The thing about Sansa betraying her family is...again, she was a little girl. She was taught to revere the Queen and she had a puppy love crush on her--at the time--future husband. So when they asked her to *betray* her family she trusted them. They manipulated the shit out of her. And I think if you were an 11-year-old little girl and an adult you trusted said they were going to help you and your family, you'd probably believe them.
I didn't like Sansa at first, but she has become one of my absolute favorites in both book and series. I think her story is one of the most compelling. Same thing with Cat.
Shaibana
02-12-2014, 10:35 PM
exactly, she just wants to save her family so bad, that she is oblivious to the true nature of Cersei and Joffrey (in the 1st season).
she is a naive young girl who's dream gets shattered. she gets a hard wake-up call and learns the hard way that the world isnt all roses and rainbows and happy endings.
i adore her. i always get excited when i see that the next chapter is about Sansa (im only at the first book yet)

Harsh, but I guess that is how people treated bastards back then. Probably why I never noticed.
Freya
02-12-2014, 11:38 PM
Well she hates him because Jon is only a few months younger than Robb I believe. So she resents him. When Ned left for the war when she was pregnant, he came back with another woman's child. Ned was never in the slightest unfaithful again so she sees Jon as the one bad thing. Plus everyone treats him well and she doesn't like that she's supposed to be nice to the son of some other woman and treat him as one of her own. So she's a super jerk to him.
She's way worse in the book.
Bolivar
02-13-2014, 02:27 AM
^ yeah. It wasn't so much the fact that Ned had a bastard but that Jon was paraded throughout Winterfell as his son and afforded the same training, education, and fatherly attention as her own children. Infidelity is one thing but to be reminded of it on a daily basis for all of your people to see is something that humiliated and ate at her. Catelyn is a central character in the books and Michelle Fairly did a great job; one of the major gripes of readers (including myself) is that she never got a chance to shine while the showrunners opted to tell their own (IMO less compelling) character arcs instead.
ironically, Jon is not actually Ned's son.

I just finished Game of Thrones (book). The first season of the show follows it pretty well! I was impressed.
On to book 2.

Is the set change purely show-based?
I just want to be Euron.

If you can find fanart or whatever for characters who have not yet been revealed, go for it.
Since the show premieres again in April, I'll be changing my set on the 1st~
Are you gonna be Margaery again?
I'll probably follow suit and also change my set on April 1st. :)

Yeah, I read and watched them at the same time and it was good fun. The books and show get farther apart from each other, with character deletions and other characters picking up for the deleted ones... storylines are moved up or pushed back, and lots of scenes are invented for the show. I quite like everything they do though.

As long as you can avoid spoilers.
I'll be Cersei again.
I'll be Cersei again.
OMG. When I was thinking of doing that EoFF parody of GoT you were the first person I thought of for Cersei.

I'd ban you for saying that, but that would just make me even more Cersei.

Would it make you feel better knowing Rastlin would have been Tyrion?
No?
I'll get my affairs in order.

HodorIpsum - Hodor hodor hodor (http://hodoripsum.com/)
I hate it when people do that! Hodor doesn't hodor that much! He maybe says five or six hodors altogether. He's a man of few hodors.
